OK, now we have troll-on-troll melee action. Heh.

There are only 4 non-troll posters in this entire thread.  Care to guess which ones they are?

I think it is hard to create a game that appeals to a large audience without losing its identity. Especially after the success of the first title. Most people seem to forget that ME1 sold rather well and it scored well in reviews.

I predict that we will see three major improvements in ME3.
1) The crew member recruitment/loyalty missions will be better integrated in the story.
2) The conversation topics will be more fleshed out.
3) There will be more active talents (to allow levels 31 through 60).

These issues pop up the most often on these forums and no doubt that BW is going to do something with it. Number 3 is something that is not happening because of people's wishes but it has simply to do with importing the ME2 characters and their stats in ME3. But I could be off here. This is what I think... Currently the level cap is 30, so the number of active talents has been kept low: 3 (plus one after the loyalty mission) for crew members and 6 (plus a bonus talent) for Shepard. In ME3 the level cap will be 60 and  I think the number of talents is likely to double. That would bring the game back to ME1 levels.

You... you're making logical arguments in a troll thread!  :o

I believe why ME2 failed for a good portion of us is because of Bioware's focus on the mainstream crowd though business wise it is prefect for making quick money but overall you guys lost some of your die hard fans on this switch of focus. I'm a fan of you guys and I love your work but ME2 disappointed me and many others. I hope on your next project you guys focus on giving your die hard fans a great game than trying to please every crowd out there.

ME2 is a great game but its not as great as its predecessor for the fact that the focus was different.

It's only trolling if I don't mean it.  I absolutley believe that was pathetic and this poster could in fact cause him or herself bodily harm should they continue.

And why do you always have to be a little ****.

IM going to say this gain. This is a hybrid RPG. Hybrid Rpgs do not follow the same "rules" as standard rpgs.

So you're saying ME1 didn't have Dice rolls (which it obviously does have)?

Im saying it has differnt rules. Also me2 does have dice role if you pay attention. Hold the trigger down bullets go everywhere = dice role. Moving target you have a chance to hit it = dice role target moves from cover to cover you use a ability = dice role.

Fan of BioWare since BG1.  Loved ME2.

I wish the "true fans" would stop making these threads speaking for the rest of us.

KOTOR pretty much defined the reasons I want to play video games, and I love ME2. It's hard not to think that the people posting stuff like the OP just somehow can't handle the lack of a "traditional" inventory system and not seeing little XP numbers pop up on the screen whenever they kill something. I know they all say there is so much more to it than that. No way to prove them wrong, I guess.

you need to speak for yourself because I am so sick and tired of you so called Mass Effect 1 elitist spewing your anti crap. I mean its about high time you and the rest of the Mass Effect 1 fans deal with the changes and STFU.

If you're tired & sick of ME1 fans and their opinions then why not ignore this topic and/or avoid ones that are like this? Btw I alike all of yous are free to express your opinions and telling one to shut up is like telling yourself the same thing so if you don't like my own opinions then fine but telling me to shut up is rude and mannerless.

Mass Effect 1 was a poor shooter

I agree but it really wasn't all about the darn shooter aspect of the game is was about the Story

there is a story in Mas Effect 2 as well

Yes I know but the story took a backside to the combat in ME2, what I am trying to say about the series is that in ME1 I didn't cared about the darn shooting aspect of the game because it wasn't what the game is about it was about the story but ME2 did a 180 and made the shooting aspect the main draw to the game which is why I am blaming mainstream audience because gamers these day are more into shooters than games with great stories. ME2 Imo lack story for a better shooter

Well, for someone who have never known me you seem remarkably informed about my activities. Let me tell you that I have been playing virtually every PnP game system there is for 30 years, including many free form and LARP systems. I know that main stream RPG has been locked into the xp/level/loot form ever sice Dungeons&Dragons (I played it before 2nd ed). But that is not what makes an RPG to me. The term is 'RolePlaying Game' not Character Buliding Game.

Yeah it was actually more but the last time numbers were mentioned all the trolls jumped on the same source of sales numbers which put ME1 at 2.3 million and ME2 at 1.3 (funny).  So it's an inside joke and yer not cool enough to get it.  Feel smart now don't ya?

Responding to a troll in anyway makes you lose. If you want to 'troll a troll' just don't respond. Either they'll give up or get progressively more aggressive until they put their foot in it and make an e-fool of themselves.

As for the level system, I preferred ME2 because it required you to actually have a squad with different talents. In ME1 you basically made your own Shep Jesus and the other two were just for achievements.

Lift and any other class was win.

Sure it does you just aren't very smart.  The accepted definition of trolling requires the troll to hold disruption higher than their own opinion.  Since my opinion is more important than upsetting some random retard over the interwebs I can't be trolling.

Here I guess we can only agree to disagree. I think the story telling moments in ME2 was on the whole was superior to that in ME1. I will allow that ME2 was more about many stories, rather than one main plot, but for a part 2 of a trilogy, that was fine with me. In terms of emotional impact ME2 overall was better than ME1 imo.

The story in ME2 is more personal, that doesn't make it worse than ME1. How come you didn't care about the shooting in ME1? Most of the game you spend shooting things... just like ME2... you can't be serious...

To clarify by die hard fans... I meant the RPG folk.

You can spin it around as much as you want. People here ARE RPG folk. This is BioWare forum mate.

RPGs like ME are now more about Playing a Role rather than statistics. If you want the former, play ME. If you want the latter, play Baldur's Gate. BioWare has RPG folks covered either way.

ME1 is/was both Statistic and Playing a Role, ME2 was just playing a role which to me makes ME2 a RPG Lite (aka a Shooter with RPG elements) and ME1 an RPG (With Shooter elements). so I don't know how you can say ME as a series wasn't once a statistic game.

REALLY? All this time I thought ME2 was a real-deal, remember-to-drink-water, old-school RPG and I LOVED it. Now you tell me it's "RPG lite". Where's my dungeon master? I need pen and paper so I can write a letter demanding my money back right after I throw this POS game in the trash compacter.
