Save me your defensive attitude.

Ever wonder WHY it was removed? Maybe that it was being problematic and HAD to be removed for one reason or another? Maybe it would have delayed the release for a comparatively frivolous addition that caused more trouble than it was worth?

I can't imagine any other reason as to WHY BioWare would remove such a feature. And seeing the outcry it has caused so far, I wouldn't be surprised if they were already working on it. What bothers me is the sense of entitlement to changes being made to the game.

Basically, you've already bought the game. You don't deserve anything else. Anything more that the developer does for us is a favor, not a requirement.

In this era of network gaming and the increasing advent of patches for console games, I ask for changes. If I get them, good. If not, oh well. Disappointing, but not defeating.

All of that is speculative. Maybe this, maybe that.
Unless you know there were problems, then speculating that there might be problems is useless.

As far as entitlement over this issue, I don't see it. This is nothing more than another thread with general ideas.

I don't know that there were problems. It is only speculative. I'm just saying that there must have been a reason for its removal, not that BioWare did it out of spite or negligence.

The reason could be rushed development which still irks players and causes torches and pitchforks to come out.

Like you told the other poster, he couldn't speculate how easy a toggle could have been added. You can't accurately speculate that the reason the toggle isn't there is technical.

Funniest thing is you can drink with a helmet on.

It is not really about realism, but more about seeing your own character. With a helmet on, it just feels alienated. MasterChief is different because Bungie wanted the players to put their own face behind the visor. Anomosity defines MC.

I feel that that is a possibility. EA is infamous for putting pressure on its developers to get anticipated projects out the door.

Let me give you some counter-examples.

Because an entire movie where Judge Dredd or Batman or Spiderman never take off their mask would be dull. For dialog to work there has to be something more than a disembodied voice.

There are exceptions, of course; Rorschach being a great example. Such examples still need other faces around to provide contrast.

What fail arguements im reading here about not wanting others to have a helmet toggle or full removal option.

It's there with the N7 armor, and they just got really lazy with all the DLC armor, I feel kind of stupid for buying the collectors edition / pre-order armors after realizing the helmet wouldn't come off, and this is before I found out about all this stuff like drinking / kissing through it.

There was a UK armed forces reqruitment ad, which featured an angry man shouting at the camera, until you (ie. the camera) took your sunglasses off, at which point things turned civil.

This was to illustrate how (yes, for real) covering your face up, when conversing, creates a distance to the person you are talking to and make you appear as a machine trying to boss people around. We speak as much with our face- and body language, as we do with our words and voices.

For this reason, I found it somewhat amusing, how there was a comletely enclosed helmet, in the game, which magically improved your persuasion abilities - maybe if it had only been intimidation options, it does look rather scary.

..and of course a helmet is utilitarian, not something you wear casual.

furthermore, i think the idea of retooling me2 in a patch so these 5 stupid armors can be unhelmed is a poor use of resources. i would rather see bioware release new n7 pieces than untoggle helmets from dlc armor.

I disagree. I'd say making changes that improve immersion is better use of development resources than adding even more stuff that won't be used by players.

Garrus: Shepard.
Shepard: How the hell did you know it was me? I'm wearing a Collector Armor that doesn't look at all like what I used to wear before, and you can still tell it's me through my mask?
Garrus: Well, I knew it was you from the way you walked?
Shepard: Right. Oh, and you know what? I tried a trick last night, I was able to drink through my helmet! And when I saw Liara, we starting kissing, but guess what? She kissed me right through my mask! Unbelievable!
Garrus: Got to try this sometime...

Wait. So are you arguing for or against wearing helmets? You have contradicted yourself so much it doesn't make sense anymore.

Do you guys think they're gonna fix this? Bioware seems to care less and less about its fan and customers recently, especially when you look at how they handled the dragon age DLC and patches.

sadly I think they are going to wait until ME3....and then they may drop just Shepard and bring in Master Chief. But seriously, they seem to just ignore these threads with no regard for the fans of ME1. (DLC) iis sadly just a "what could've been" gladly pay for helmetless armor. I know sad to say but If

Who knows.

Heck, DICE (also owned by EA) released the latest major patch for Battlefield 2 four years after the game was released. If the devs know that it's something that is desired by a lot of players, they may well take the time to do it.

Besides, showing that you support the basic game is a pretty good way of building good will if you want people to buy future expansions/DLC.

I like wearing armor that covers my character from head to toe, tho that is only with my main male shepard as he is based off of my SWG Character (^_^). I dont use the blood dragon armor on my female shepards as I dont want to cover the pretty face :3.

Lol and besides, maybe when shepard drinks with a full face helmet on a little slot opens at the mouth piece?

Would be totally funny if he has a dark helmet moment when drinking. Space Balls was a funny movie. :P

I like to be able to see my character's face and expressions when she's talking. It's why I haven't taken out the Dragon armour yet, and stick to the Cerberus armour which at least allows you to see her face.

I'm on the "FOR" side, I perked my brow mighty high when I had Shepard take a drink and she just splashed her alchoholic beverage over her faceplate, though a point I'm gonna make is that when you [any ol developer] make a game too good... people will pick the HELL out of the smallest details (not referring to ME). I haven't seen this 'kissing through the faceplate' scene but now I'll endeavour to find it. It did seem odd that Tali could tell you were Shepard straight away after two years while being concealed behind a collector helmet... and I confess until the Cerb armour came out I was content to use a visor or what-have-you so I could see the facial expressions at work.

To remind everyone, in ME1, you could toggle your helmet any time, except in inhospitable conditions.

In normal conditions it would show the helmet with a clear visor and nothing around the jaw, so you could see the face, and would convert to the full helmet in none-breathable atmosphere.

Couldn't that be done? Or at least put back the 'toggle helmet' button.

It basically forces you to either A.) Not use a helmet or B.) Only use the N7 Helmet and Visors.

One day I will make an album. This album will consist of songs with Mass Effect related titles to express my geekery. The first single will be called "Why Can't I Take My Helmet Off? (It's Hot In Here And I Want A Drink.)"
