A few Kasumi questions (not release date)

Assuming Kasumi becomes available at some point, what powers would you like her to have?
Also, what kind of unique power could she have? (what isn't already covered by someone else?) - but more importantly, what kind of power would you like her to have?

Personally I'd prefer it if she has warp and overload, as for the unique power, I just don't have any ideas.

As she's supposed to be a shadowy thief style character, I can see her being somewhat like Infiltrator Shep. However not a sniper specialist as there's already loads of those (Thane, Legion, Garrus possibly Shepard) so I think she might break down somewhat like this;



Weapon skill: Heavy Pistols, Machine Pistols

Skills: Disruptor Ammo, AI Hack, Incinerate

Special/loyalty Skill: Sabotage (Unlike ME1 skill. This works similar to Overload except also works on Biotic barriers and deals damage equal to the barrier/shield loss to nearby foes in splash damage)



It's already shown in a video that Kasumi can be the Tech specialist in the suicide mission so I'd expect her powers to have a tech slant.

Assuming the video can be trusted, Kasumi has AI Hacking and Overload, and can use Assault Rifles and Sniper Rifles.

@Sockwolf: Super unlikely that she'd get a tech ability that affects barriers. It's been pretty distinct that tech is weak against barriers and biotics are weak against shields. Also, have you counted your squad mates powers lately? How many of them have more than two non-loyalty powers?

Hoping for Overload, Cryo Ammo for non-loyalty powers. Passive I'm sure will be just like everybody else's with +HP, Damage, possibly power recharge reduction (theres none in the current cast that have cd reduction for tech). Hopefully her unlockable will be something useful, maybe like a smoke bomb that causes confusion and makes enemies target each other temporarily or panic :P

As Miranda's the only Tech/Bio user (sentinel) in your team I think another would be both useful and fun. Pull would be a useful power for a thief, as would any hacking ability, and there's potential that tech and biotics could be used together to achieve stealth.



I wonder if an omni-tool could be used to steal/burn an enemy. Also, the video @spocklives mentions, really must be fake.

I'm all for losing Incinerate and adjusting the effect against Barriers if it would affect game balance.



If she gets to use Assault and Sniper rifles and has tech abilities, why take her over Garrus? My intent was to design a character that fills a role we don't have.

Worth noting the 360 version's power wheel has 5 slots for each squad mate, despite them being limited to 3 powers ATM. There's a possibility of more powers as DLC, but with 12 characters to support they're unlikely to be specific to the individual.

Hacking/Overload would make her pretty pointless unless her bonus skill is impressive, even if they make sense for her type of character. I don't think there'd be a lot of use in Not As Good Garrus. Cryo ammo is the only non-unique skill that isn't available via squadmate, so that'd be my first choice. Not sure about loyalty power; something that functions like damping in ME1 would be cool, basically disabling all enemy powers for a short period of time. I don't know how effective that would be in practice since most enemy damage outside of Scion shockwaves and Harbinger deathballs is via bullets, but it does seem like that's one of the few attack types we're missing. Maybe reuse the tech armor pulse animation and have it affect all enemies within the pulse diameter or something, which'd be particularly nice for big battles with Eclipse and Collectors.

As noted earlier, she might have overload and AI hacking. But i don't believe that actually, since every other squad mate have all 3 powers visible including their unique.

So if i where to hope for anything, i would hope for disruptor ammo and cryo blast for unloyal talents. Then her loyal talent should obviously be something new and tech oriented, preferably something that is good vs armor and shields.

Overload and AI Hacking would make a lot of sense... and another Overload character would be great. AI Hacking is very useful when you do happen to be against mechs.



How about something like this for her loyalty power:



Smoke Bomb

CD: 6 seconds

Impact Radius: 3m

Reduces enemy accuracy for 5/7/9 seconds.



Evolved Forms:

Area Smoke Bomb - Increases impact radius to 7m.

Choking Gas Bomb - Increases duration to 12 seconds.



Affects enemies regardless of defenses, since it merely lowers their damage and doesn't fully CC them.

I really doubt the final version of Kasumi would be able to use both Assault and Sniper Rifles, if not for the fact that she's a female thief then because Garrus, Legion and fellow DLC companion Zaeed already fill that role.

As I said in the thread I made about her possible bonus power: Engineers could really use a skill that is effective against barriers and possibly stops biotics from using their abilities.

I've been looking at the ME1 talents, and I think a revised version of proximity mines might be a fun/cool loyalty power, plus no one else has a similar power.

It would be neat if we saw the return of dampening - it would keep enemies from using powers and maybe have a brief stun or stagger effect.

Like I said in a previous reply, this won't happen.  Engineers can't damage barriers and Adepts can't damage shields.  It's their respective weaknesses.

If you really want an anti-barrier power, take Reave as your bonus power.

Skills : Cryo ammo (only ammo power unavailable through squadmate), Cryo Blast



And a biotic loyalty skill that debuf ennemies somehow like Damping in ME1

Maybe something that won't work against Shield and Armor but could damage Barrier and temporary disable unprotected ennemies tech or biotic abilities (Sentinel are after all the perfect mix between biotic and tech users so if someone could bend the rules a little that would be them)



As for the last skill, I think they all look too much the same.

A bonus to shield, a small one to power duration or power damage and one to melee damage.



It's maybe a cliche but when I think thief and asian girl, I imagine a close combat expert or at least someone who could silently incapacitate a guard for example.
