Did Bioware kick majority of their writing staff from ME1 when they made (and failed) with ME2?

Considering how basic the story has become (compared to last time) and the fact that shooting is 90% of the game.

But then again you don't need to have a logical story, have a good lore (like the 1 created in ME1) or follow established laws of physics to attract the shooter crowd, who doesn't care about anything but shooting.

For me, I wanted a good RPG sequel who builds (not destroys) on lore from the original, as well as making a good and fresh story.

What I got was Mass Effect 2.. Lame <_<

Have you really listened to the story... The genophage is fleshed out in much greater detail giving it more horror and legitimate reasoning. Cerberus as an out of control organization is really detailed, just think about how many people have been badly affected by its hasty decisions. The council has stayed with its head in the sand. The reapers continue to move. This is story telling by bits and pieces. Where the details of the characters tell you much more about the whole atmosphere. It is not the same sweeping epic feel but a much more personal story dealing with an epic problem. Shepard is currently the only true force standing up to the reapers. He does it with the aid of enemies while friends ignore him. He will not back down and let us fade into history. What about that is lame?

Probably a troll, but i'll give it a snack anyway.

I actually enjoyed the story- was perhaps a bit fragmented, but the gameplay was fun, and the fragmented nature of the story let you have more of a say in what you did. Though being forced into the main story-arc was irritating sometimes.

In fact, the story that was there was much improved in my opinion. Even side missions had decent stories, compared to the 'investigate base where people died' story repetition of ME1.

Exactly. It's a stepping stone between ME1 and ME3 so the story has to be detailed in different ways. ME1 set the scene with the impending doom and ME3 will conclude it.

Oh, hey, and appeal to popularity!  Do I need to explain why that's not an argument?

Or that the game isn't 90% shooting unless you skip everything else you possibly can?

Or that the game's plot is all about building your team, and preparing for the toughest mission of your life - either of them?

Or that the plot is very good at being that?  Or that the characters are very good for driving that?  Or that the game's structure is clearly and blatantly built around that?

I mean, really?  Do I?

To say it with Captain Anaya:

Yeah, that!

The internet. When nobody knows who is arguing with who and with what tone, but will damn well argue with them anyway.

Oh please, not this again. Why do you have to start a new thread? Aren't your old ones good enough?

And I don't see any difference in the laws of physics from Mass Effect to Mass Effect 2. Surely it cannot have changed that much from the first game?

Did we play a differnt ME1/ The plot in ME1 was just as simple as the plot in ME2. Also ME2 is hands down the better game. If you want old school RPG, go play Dragon age or Kotor.

I heard they wanted to sack a small handfull of disgruntled players, but got in a fight with some consumer rights organization over it.

Actually ME2 is pretty dumb, and has many holes in the story. I bet ME3 gonna be just like ME2 (where the old team scattered all over the place) in terms of charectors (you get new people in ME3, even if your team survived the suicide mission in ME2).

Anyway is it true that Bioware sacked majority of the writers before ME2..? I heard this rumour.
