that one point in barrier is for "i cant get a lock" and against enemies you cant charge, ymir/praetorian for example, as well as the enemies up on ledges. vanguards cant pop up and shoot, no tech armour/adr rush/cloak/drone distract/curling powers, this means that you cant stick your head out and shoot for long without dying.

Or you can just reave them.  Works for me just fine.

yeah i know, i have reave most of the time with my vanguard, im just saying that the pt in barrier isnt stupid, its thought out and has uses. it also frees up enough points enabling you to get pull field, which because of lightning cd and a warp from a squaddie is a very powerful tool.

barrier is useless on insanity, no matter how you slice it.

Enemies cut through shields in 2-4 shots max, x multiple enemies anytime you pop up,

x 12 sec (can be lowered to 9ish) global cooldowns and its not worth it, much like combat drone loses alot of luster on Insanity.

I'm sure on other difficulties its adequate.

only real use is insta shields if you dont feel like waiting to take that last shot

Fully leveled barrier does not get cut through shields 2-4 max.

Besides, having a shield regen is still critical for enemies rushing you.

having a 1 point barrier however, is extremely n00b when you already have charge.

try playing insanity champ.

I am playing on insanity. The whole point of it is insanity.

Effectively having almost 2000 shields will last quite some time in Insanity.

Insanity takes down shields in seconds, wether or not you have barrier.

I won't argue the subject further as I have the game.

Try this build and you will not argue with me:

Assault Armor
Guardian
Heavy Barrier

And stack up your N7 armor for at least 15% shields.

I've told you how it works, the bar won't stop recharging until its full even under fire. Your effectively invincible for 3 seconds. Plus the shields themselves take a good amount of damage before ripping off.

Besides, I'm not the one putting only 1 point into barrier as a VANGUARD. Everyones here thinks reave makes a better bonus talent i know i'm not in the minority.

I'm not playing a vanguard and neither was the OP

This just in: there are different classes.Image IPB

If it works for one specific niche build I wont argure, however for the vast majority (every other) of classes its not good at all on insanity.

Edit: someone else started spouting jibberish about Vanguards, not me.

Fine. and i'll even concede that you should wait til late game to try a build like that because of upgrade constraints.
