I comb these forum's trying to see if anyone was in my situation with some members not loyal and having completed the suicide mission with no death. This is my 3rd run through 1st (sentinal, Ash faithful) and 2nd (inflitrator, tali LI) both paragon, had no deaths. 3rd is Engineer, Maranda LI, paragon (playing now).

Don't know if this is a glich, I did Zaeed's mission as a paragon just like my other run throughs but notice he is not loyal. what? So, ok figure game plan take him with me on suicide mission, he actually is powerful to me, but leave him out with the last Reaper fight hopefully he survive. Then I realized Grunt too is glich somehow. Now he is loyal, and change his armor to the cool black color, but his loyal power is not unlock! what! no fortitude for Grunt now! So game plan have him on my team also with Zaeed and swap him out for Reaper which wasn't my plan. I wanted him for Reaper fight. hmmmm

So anyone had this problem? I should also say, I tried playing as a Renegade in the beginning, it wasn't for me. It could be I didn't have any paragon/renegage (blue/red choice) so had to settle for the netural choice when talking to Zaeeed. We saved the worker's instead of going after Vito. Grunt I had paragon choices and did them all. Both loyal mission summery had info that they are loyal. Hmmm. help....

I've had Jack and Zaeed unloyal and they came out alive. So yeah, it can be done.

Having them in your group won't necessarily save them if they are not loyal. I tried that method to with a non loyal Thane and he died at the end of the mission.

Don't pick nonloyals as tech specialist

Always choose a good, loyal leader to be 2nd fireteam (Miranda/Garrus)

Do not have them in your squad vs the Reaper battle at the end. It is the one point where your squad can be killed.

yeah they can. my last play through i got thane and legion through and they weren't loyal. just don't pick them as specialists or team leaders. ironically on y first play through with everyone loyal i got legion and thane killed because i picked the wrong people for the job.

alright good to know it can still be done. The good thing the "specialist" are loyal for those special mission. And figure from what I was reading, leave the non-loyal team out of the Reaper fight. The only thing that does bugs me is that Zaeed is not loyal after I did his loyalty mission and that I can't get Grunt's loyalty power even though he is loyal to me. I tried talking to them but of course Z just want to talk about his war prizes for this battles and Grunt just keeps talking about his new clan. yeah, yeah, I was there Grunt, remember? I'll re-post later see what happen after the suicide misson, Right now Maranda want to go back to the illum for some shopping.

I got through with only 2 casualties(Tali- tech specialist/unloyal and Mordin- boss fight/unloyal) when I only had like 3 people loyal in the entire squad.

It means you didn't have enough Paragon points to Charm his loyalty back after letting Vido get away.

That's a glitch, but I think he'll still be treated as loyal.

The only thing non-loyals should be doing to survive is holding the line. Zaeed, Grunt and Garrus especially are good at this, even when non-loyal.

I had a playthrough where I went in expecting my Shepard to die, but non-loyal Zaeed and non-loyal Samara survived holding the line (they were the only ones, too).

its possible, but you may have to roll the dice a few times.



dont assign any specialty roles for the non loyal people. leave both of them for the last part holding the line. make sure to also leave garrus with them. use "weaker" teammates like mordin to escort the crew.



samara and legion are considered "weaker" by the game even though in reality they are two of the strongest in the entire team. bring them to fight the reaper (they compliment each other in combat perfectly anyway).



even if grunt and zaeed were loyal, you should be leaving them back to defend anyway, since the game considers those guys the "strongest" as defenders.



in the end its kind of a gamble. it may work, it may not work, just reload the save if one of them dies and try again.

I had an unloyal Jack and Zaeed on my first completion, didn't bring either of them in my group or use them for any of the ending events, but everyone survived.

miranda is not loyal for me because of a bug ( i have 90% paragon and i cant get her to change her mind about jack!) hopefully she wont die on my 2cnd run

She should be fine, just to be sure, I would advise leaving Zaeed, Grunt, Garrus and some of the other 'combat' (non-squishy) types in the door defence team alongside her.

well, mission accomplished. All Specialist was loyal so that went well. 1 team, with Shepard included Zaeed (non-loyal)/Grunt (glitch loyal) which we just plowed through. Maranda lead 2nd team while Tali was the Tech. Was much easier with those two on my team. 2nd misson with Samara as Biotics, Thane, Garus with Jacob leading the other team. Sent morden to escort the crew back. Reaper fight had Zaeed and Grunt stay with the big guns to hold the line, with Shepard was Thane and Samara with proved a very nice team for the reaper fight. Everyone survived, maranda pop champane in my cabin, jack still says F##U to me so we cool.
Now off to Hardcore with a Soldier or Adapt.

Free DLC team member. Once installed acquisition is meeting up on Omega and saying hi, but comes with a loyalty mission as well.
