Why the heck are we talking about Loghain's plan at Ostagar in the general discussion forum, anyway? Definitely spoiler territory with potential for more.

In RTO DLC the quest giver actualy tells you that Cailen knew the battle would be lost. So did he know of Loghains treason ?
But yes the battle lines were wrong and no military leader in their right mind would of placed their troops like that.
The lay of the land reminds me of Azincourt during the 100 year war where 6000 English troops destroyed 20000 - 30000 French knights and men at arms. The French lost over 6000 men while the English lost around 450 men. The difference between the two forces ? The War Bow that the English used. Cailen and Loghain both fools for discounting this useful weapon that nearly every peasant uses in Fereldan.

Sounds like my kind of place....
As I recall, the Darkspawn appeared well ahead of schedule, and in far greater numbers than believed possible. Seem to remember folks still speaking of waiting for Orleasian forces and other support, but suddenly it is nightfall of that same day and battle is met. While some games may allow for artillery placements and such, then having battle commence, this is not such a case.
As for me, I would have had the mages toss more Grease spells, as the Spawn were bearing a whole lot of torches that night....

Both sides were pretty stupid. How come no one was using magic? Mages are like the heavy artillery of fantasy worlds. Walls mean nothing to mages.
