No one mentioned how incredibly clean its engine is, and how precisely its main guns are calibrated?

Also, Donnelly, talking to Gabby after the new shields are installed, says specifically Normandy is a hit-and-run weapon, but cannot stand in a stand-up, attrition fight. Against any council race it makes a great First Strike weapon. It could probably sneak in undetected and fir her Thannix cannons up the Ascension's exhaust pipes while its shields are down. But if anything bigger than a cruiser main guns gets a lucky shot at her...

if only they could install back turrets it would become even more deadlier ,well since each time the normandy is in a fight there are always someone firing at her behind , back turrets would fix a bunch of problems

For it's size, it's a bad ass mother ****er considering the damn thing blew a collecter ship apart in two shots.

It is the most powerful vessel in the galaxy. [because Reapers are currently outside the galaxy :P yay technicalities]

I want a SR3 dreadnought. Its time for an upgrade. http://halo.wikia.co...hadow_of_Intent

The SR2 is basically a mini-reaper, with Shepard's charisma being its version of indoctrination.

Good point:devil:

Now the only thing we need is the ability to detect other stealthed ships, as there is now a whole series of Normandy class ships that the alliance uses. Then the SR-2 would be unstoppable.

I'm not so worried about the alliance having stealth vessels as I am others.

The Normandy SR2 is probably able to take on any frigate or light cruiser in the galaxy and come out on top. Against a normal crusier it would be a bit harder considering crusiers pack quite a bit of firepowerand engage at longer ranges. I really don't think that even the SR2 could take on a dreadnought, or a reaper, or the destiny ascension (assuming its still alive). Of course, EDI is a wild card, I'm not sure how often she can hack another ship and bring it down from the inside.

The SR2 is a combination of the best tech from every species in the galaxy.

Its got Asari armour

Turian guns

Human stealth systems

And what I can can assume are Quarian shields considering you get them from tali

So yeah, it could kill anything short of a dreadnought

I'd say if someone didn't know what they were fighting, it could probably do serious - possibly fatal - damage on anything upto and including dreadnaught class ships. Based on ME2, that's mostly because of EDI - if the Normandy can get as close to a dreadnaught as it did the Collector vessel, it'd be able to wreak havoc with the cyberwarfare suit, and the Thannix guns would mean it could blast itself a nice little, turret free spot to do it in.

If someone knew that's what they were facing, specifically - probably not so much. It seems like it would be vulnerable to smaller vessels - the stealth system wouldn't be worth a damn once it was in visual range, so anything which could match it's manoeuverability would probably be a danger to it. Of course - thanks to the stealth systems however - it can run whenever it wants to and no one can catch it.

That's actually true for any ship with FTL.

Sure until ME3 where it'll get one-shotted by Harbinger to make way for the SR-3, now with lounge and go faster stripes.

Don't forget, Joker will get you spaced again, this time because he won't leave without EDI.

EDI is part of the crew. No one gets left behind.

Which is why I don't expect an SR-3. A refit to SR-2 to add an area or change some places inside? Maybe. But I don't think we'll be changing ships again.

Exactly. Leaving the ship is one thing, but leaving EDI - no way. A destroyed ship is just that - a ship. Expensive, but replacable. EDI, however, could be killed off for real, so if there is a slightest, the most insane hope of saving her - I'll try.
So I really hope that Normandy won't be shot again in the third game)

You could always take the AI core with you when you get an SR3.

so we have pretty muched reached 3 conclusions

1) anything short of a dreadnought is going to get owned!

2) shep can act all cool get close to a dreadnought EDI can hack it then they use the main cannon and run and hide

3) EDI is awesome!

She's hardware too, some of which is composed of salvaged parts from Sovereign, which are irreplaceable. I suppose taking her quantum bluebox would preserve her personality, but it wouldn't be the same.

you could just move all her bits to the new ship i dont understand what would stop them from doing it afterall she wasent even Fully integrated with the ships systems till recently

This thread reminds me of all of those "RAMIREZ" macros from MW2

@The EDI thing thats why you have back-ups, just stick her on your usb stick, either that or do a Geth/Rommie(Andromeda)/Cylon Reserection and allow her to download to a Physical Form.

The SR-2 is a very powerful ship. Exactly how much is pure speculation based on the Codex and the few space combat cutscenes we have from both games - which isn't much, especially since the devs said that the Battle of Citadel in Mass Effect wasn't faitful to the Codex fluff.

I think it would be very interesting if the Alliance and the Turian create their own upgraded Normandy, or better yet, a fleet of SR-1Bs (or similar) and the Council declares you rogue. So you get a dozen SPECTREs, each with his own Normandy-class vessel, trying to hunt Shepard down.

That already should have happened in ME2 if you told the council to **** themselves.

Except!!! The first game shows us, just how hesitent the council is to send even you as a Spectre into the Terminus Systems, by grounding you when you tell them you want to go to Ilos.
