The SR-2 is a very powerful ship. Exactly how much is pure speculation based on the Codex and the few space combat cutscenes we have from both games - which isn't much, especially since the devs said that the Battle of Citadel in Mass Effect wasn't faitful to the Codex fluff.

I think it would be very interesting if the Alliance and the Turian create their own upgraded Normandy, or better yet, a fleet of SR-1Bs (or similar) and the Council declares you rogue. So you get a dozen SPECTREs, each with his own Normandy-class vessel, trying to hunt Shepard down.

That already should have happened in ME2 if you told the council to **** themselves.

Except!!! The first game shows us, just how hesitent the council is to send even you as a Spectre into the Terminus Systems, by grounding you when you tell them you want to go to Ilos.

Still should have. They're morons.

*shakes fist* Shepard, you are a traitor, we will get you!!!!!!

Okay, in the meantime, I'm gonna go shopping on the Citadel, hang out with Captain Bailey, get some drinks maybe, tell off a cop who is bugging a quarian and um, I dunno, I'll probably be back to the Citadel in a couple days..

its a bad ass ship and probably most advanced ship built around that time... I wonder the Alliance is building another Normandy since they lost one and they know how valuable it is.... may be in ME3, the alliance gives Shepard a even better SR-3 .... bigger and more powerful and probably optical camouflage stealth systems with mass effect stealth ... making it most stealth ship ever built .... anything is possibly..

Aside from reapers, of course. And I don't mean the most powerful either, but the most dangerous.

The fully upgraded SR-2 has:

It's stealth systems which allow it to venture into places other ships simply cannot, dropping off Shepard (most lethal person in the galaxy) and her team anywhere necessary.

The most advanced and cutting edge armor in the galaxy, constructed using carbon nanotube sheets woven with diamond Chemical Vapor Depostion.

It possesses Multi-Core Shielding, a relatively new and powerful shielding technology that, instead of simply acting as a barrier, actively slaps aside debris and incoming attacks.

The Thanix Cannon, technology ripped off from the turians (thanks Garrus!) which, as we know, is horrifically powerful. It's even scarier if you understand the science behind it.

And last, but far from least: EDI. While the rest of this technology comes together in a combination probably unheard of: the cannon is turian technology, the armor I believe is asari technology and the shields, I'm not sure where Tali got those. Wouldn't surprise me. Stealth systems were a human idea, constructed in an initial joint venture with the turians. Maybe she invented them. But with all this incredible technology, we have an incredibly sopisticated, AMICABLE anbd TRUSTWORTHY AI who can attack enemy ships with REAPER VIRUSES, shutting down their gravity, life support, power plants.. overloading their systems.. who kows what else.

So.. Considering all this.. the SR-2 is the most dangerous ship in the galaxy aside from the Reapers themselves...

Agree.. disagree..?

the thanix cannon wasnt ripped off, humans and turians worked on it together

This thread reminds me of all of those "RAMIREZ" macros from MW2

@The EDI thing thats why you have back-ups, just stick her on your usb stick, either that or do a Geth/Rommie(Andromeda)/Cylon Reserection and allow her to download to a Physical Form.

Hmmm... EDI avatar (same as Rommie) will be great idea :o.

And AI have superior ability to multitargeting , so i think EDI could actually hack middle sized flotilla by simply redirected ships firing computers to fire on eachother.

Like Adams says once right now large ships don't rely on visual scans (aka windows) but on electronic scans so all what EDI need to do is simply "blind" them so even Dreadnought will be defenceless like duck in middle of the pond whit broken wings.
However i really hope that i would not need to test EDI's cyberwarfare ability on Alliance and Citadel ships.

Overall though the Normandy isn't going to win a real fight against a Crusier [...]

Against a cruiser, oh yes it will. That's what the Collector ship was. Was.

You snipped out the rest of the quote. A real fight isn't just going to be a Crusier v the Normandy it's to be possibly several Crusiers and escorting Frigates against the Normandy. It becomes a slugging match which the Normandy can not win, it's a precision strike ship not a "proper" warship. All the fights shown in ME1 and 2 are complete rubbish, they are there for cinematic effect and contradict just about every codex entry about ships and fleet warfare.

It's all speculation, I remember having similar arguements on the ETW forum over how anyone could believe the USS Consitution could stand up to the HMS Victory. One is a massive ship designed to take the fight to the enemy and slug it out, the other is a fast moving fragile(ish) strike vessel that out classes other ships in it's own class.
