So I've played through ME1 a few times now; love it. Just started a new game mostly to import into ME2 with different decisions from my Paragade Canon shep. I'm tired of being low-level again and having no good armor or weapons, especially since I'm playing on 'hardcore'.

SO quick question - followed these directions to access the cheat box in ME1...

First, enable the console by going to Documents>BioWare>Mass
Effect>Config on your computer. Then open BIOInput in Notepad. Find
the line [Engine.Console] and under it add the line ConsoleKey=Tilde.
Then when playing in game simply press the tilde key (above tab) to
open the console, then type in the desired cheat.

My question is, does it have to be the ~ key? Can I make it something different?

That is all. :D

There's no reason that you can't bind a key other the 1 left of 1, ¬ on my keyboard.

Everyone binds that key because that's the key that's been bound for the console on most games for the last 15 years!

Hmm k. I can't seem to get it to work. I make the change but when I go in-game and press it, nothing happens.

in:
BIOInput.ini
[Engine.Console]
ConsoleKey=Tilde

is the default, that key is  ¬  on a UK keyboard, but other key names work as well. I've just tested it with

ConsoleKey=F8

and it works fine...
