No she doesn't.

In my game she loses all of her quirkiness and just constantly plays the "stay positive" role. Maybe she did something else in your game.

Edit: Plus, Hope kind of steals some of her thunder in that area as the game rolls on, so she can't really get by on her cheeriness alone like she could when everyone was mopey.

I was trying to be as absolutitst as you. I don't really like Vanille.

Lightning is my favourite. Worst birthday ever, indeed.

<3Lightning<3 <3Vanille<3 & Rain + Serah I dunno yet, but look likely. :D

Gamespot has me worried though, did they really bugger up Vanille's Voice, or are they just making fun of a 'girly' kinda voice?

Honestly, FFXIII sucks in my opinion and this is the first and only FF game that has disappointed me so far.

Eh, to each their own. I'm loving the characters and the story so far.
And the combat and leveling systems are easily the second best of the series. Only FFXII did it better.

Every single Final Fantasy game has its share of "disappointed fans".
I predict that FFXV is going to have people screaming that it's a disappointment and doesn't feel like previous FF games. You heard it here first!

It wouldn't be FF game otherwise.

People should really start listing off what they really want in a Final Fantasy game. All the nonsensical bashing Square-Enix gets could use a little more meat and potatoes.

FF XIII sucks after playing an actually GOOD, ORIGINAL and REFRESHING rpg called Mass Effect 2.

Seriously, FF XIII is way to retro for my likings. A linear turn-based rpg... in the year 2010? No thank you.

I don't have problems with other people liking the game but i feel this game lacks a plot direction and i found only 3 characters likable in the whole party.

In fact i'll just post my rant here :

Quite honestly, being a fan of FF for a very long time, i had high
expectations for this game(Thats right i played
FFIV,FFVII,FFVIII,FFX,FFXI,FFXII and FFXIII) and i was let down with
FFXIII.

The previous FF's at the least had a direction the
story was heading, like stopping sin in FFX, preventing an all out war
in FFXII, stopping Sephiroth in FFVII  whereas the story seems to be
heading nowhere at all in FFXIII(only thing is being branded a l'cie and
figure their focus, other than that the story doesn't really propel
forward.)

And then theres the lack of conventional towns, what
made me disappointed in this regard is that conventional towns in my
opinion with NPC interactions(which FFXIII lacks) makes the world feel
more alive and there is nothing much to do except run from point a to
point b in a linear fashion(FFX was linear but you know where you're
heading, you know what you're suppose to do).

The world doesn't
feel alive in FFXIII ,the mythology isn't fleshed out very well and
it felt like a series of disparate level strung
together with
cinematics, rather than an actual world.

There is also the lack
of a central villain which in my opinion, for a final fantasy game at
least is very important. In FFVII it was Sephiroth, in FFVIII it was
Edea at first till Ultimecia, in FFX it was Sin for the most part , in FFXI online it depends on which story arc you are trying to complete and in
FFXII it was Vayne Solidor.

Overall FFXIII lacks a proper
story direction, it lacks interaction with NPC's, it lacks an actual
atmosphere that makes the game feel alive and it felt like a grind fest
and combat after combat with cutscenes and cinematics slapped on for the
most part.

Not everything is negative as the music seems to be
pretty good while the battle system rocks.

Personally i felt X and XII were the best of the series and i expected XIII to surpass that, instead XIII in my opinion became one of the weaker games in the series.

After playing the game I think this thread is full of Irony. Yes, FFXIII did fail me, big time. I have a 4 pages long review if anyone bored enough to read.

http://social.biowar...4350/blog/3390/

But you know why it fails? Because it changed too damn much that I don't recognize the majority of FF's hallmark elements. And Square sure wasn't kidding that the pacing of Call of Duty "inspired" them. If this is the changes people is yearning for, I'm sure as hell don't want it. So yah, irony is that now if it fails, I think it would have the opposite effect the TC desire by sending a clear message that we don't want change, heh. :crying:

As for "wishing" the game to fail to have my point taken across? Not really, and I think it's kinda an apathetic attitude to have. If it still score big, then there are enough people liking it, in fact, I think I see enough people like FFXIII now and I don't have problem with them. If the majority like FFXIII as it is, then good game for them and Square, I'll just take my money elsewhere. However unlike most regular JRPG bashers as I mentioned in the review, I know more or less the full scope of the JRPG and under no illusion that a few flagship tittles represent the entire market. There will always be tittles that carter to my taste and pocket, no need to get so bitter over one or two companies, unless of course they're the only one you know

^ This. ★

Watch without bias or skipping.

That one relatively-short sequence of Final Fantasy XIII conveys the feeling of something more intense and epic transpiring than Dragon Age did in its final few hours, even with that kind-of-forced twist with the sacrifice and the loophole.

You'll notice the flawlessly-seamless integration of battles and cutscenes, the camera's movement during those, along with the events scripted into the main play engine, like the explosions etc. All coming together to form a noticeably more intense sequence than the last couple hours of DA:O, IMO (especially near the end of that video where you can definitely get a sense of something epic transpiring even if you may not understand what they're saying. DA kept falling short of the tension required to generate such a rise, except during the encounters with Loghain and where the other Warden fails, and maybe the BM build-up in the DR.)

oh and did I mention the memorable music? ♪ <3

Just watched it, boring weeaboo trash.
Let me guess, you own a $2000 replica katana with a blade made out of pot metal?
LMAO.

I just read your entire review and i have to agree with everything you said. FFXIII for a final fantasy, is utterly dissapointing.

You forgot to critisize of the lack of a central villain though.

I agree with JigPig.

Also, FF13 fails to give a sense of a serious and epic war (yes, even in that video). I never played DA:O (yes, shame on me, I know), but after playing games such as Mass Effect 1 and 2, I just can't take this whole stereotypical Japanese bull**** anymore. Well, I could take it for granted if the gameplay or story was any good, but they aren't!

Don't waste your time on FFXIII if you dislike JRPG's.

However if you like western RPG's you may want to try FFXII, it may be classified as a JRPG but the overall feel of the game feels very westernized, even the majority of the characters look european and the voice acting in english is incredible.
Even the japanese population preferred the english version and western feel of FFXII.

That was the FF that made the scale of battle huge, something which XIII failed to do.

Final Fantasy XII was great and I wonder why it gets bashed so often. The voice acting is indeed incredible, especially by Gideon Emery who plays Balthier. Compare the voice acting to Final Fantasy X. It sucks balls even if the cast is pretty good. I believe they edited the voice clips in post-production because of the different timing in English. Whatever they did, it wasn't good.

Personally I think Final Fantasy XII's combat system would have worked better on the PC but oh well, Square likes consoles so much and the FFVII PC port was a disaster. :P

I wouldn't call Final Fantasy XII a western RPG though, because the difference between WRPGs and JRPGs is that there's actually role-playing in WRPGs, something Final Fantasy lacks.

I agree with SithLord, I enjoyed FF12 a lot! Mainly because the gameplay in FF12 was actually good and original, unlike FF "13-in-a-dozen".

Whhaaaaaaaaat?

That battle system is easily the second best of the series! I agree that XII had a better battle system, but XIII takes some of the best elements from two of the best systems of the franchise.

Crystarium works similar to the Sphere Grid in X, and the Paradigm system is very similar to the Gambit system in XII. And the encounters in the game work exactly like in XII. The only difference is that you switch to a battle screen instead of having menus pop up and combat in the open. I would have prefered no battle screen, but it's still close enough to XII to be really awesome.
