So after my first play through of ME2 I was so disappointed and discouraged I just had to walk away, play some DA:O, try some player mods, and in a cyber sence, drown my sorrows.
So now some time has passed and im ready to start on some saved games, setting up ME3.
Things not so bad this run through now I know im not playing the intellectual progression of ME1 but a shooter with a story.
Probing still sucks huge and for life of me cant understand how Bioware thought ANYONE would enjoy that aspect of the game?
But rather then focus on all the bad, and there is alot, even with toned down expectations. I fiugre ill ask a few questions that seem to have gotten over looked in the initial negative responces about game (the majority).
1) Why join cerberus?
Reason I ask is seems to me one of the aspects missing in ME2 is factions working against each other.
In ME1 you had the alliance, the specters, Cerberus, Shadow Broker, plus indipendant mercs. This created a world, a universe alive and working.
'In ME2 you have Cerberus, Blue Suns, few other mercs, and really thats it, everything else so absent from story it doesnt matter if its even there.
I think I much prefered Cerberus as this human only organization working towards same goals with vastly different means that you had objection with and came into contact with, both positive and negatively.
2) Speaking of Shadow Broker:
One of the things I was really interested in seeing how it played out was the info you could give to Shadow Broker in ME1. Thats all but been forgotten about in ME2 it seems. That was a disappointment.
3) Why close up all the things from ME1 in ME2?
Im wondering if you (Bioware) now regret offering so many open ended choices in ME1 as you seem to close them all up in ME2 and offer no new ones?
These choices are what made ME1 so great. Each play through was a new play through.
I gotta tell you, im almost to Freedom mid way point in 2nd play through and it feels so linear in comparrison to first play through.
Smae choices, same conversations, same everything. Like I have done all this before to the same outcomes (oh I have)
Anyways, 2nd play thropugh not as mind numbingly negative and hope crushing as first play through but game is still way to linear, not enough choices or ways to impact your surroundings (havent gotten to romance yet but since im planning on staying true to Ashley this run and setting up HOPEFULLY some pay off in ME3, I guess you can guess what I think of ME2 romances in general).
I find myself wanting to like this game. I really do because Space is so unexplored in RPGs that a good sci fi RPG is due. But sadly, no matter how positive and upbeat I try to be, the negatives in this game just to plentiful to ignore.
Ill get my save game files (if it kills me) for ME3 but Bioware, you really do have to deliver much much much much more in ME3. Thats not a threat or anything, just the simply truth for me to stay a fan. Deliver the RPG goodies or tell me upfront you not going to so I can go elsewhere and not get hopes up! Cause ME2 just doesnt deliver the goods Im sorry to say!
So just now replaying ME2
