My public service for the day...

In case you have not yet noticed, there is a thread called Patch 1.03  that goes through some of the issues with this patch...

I have not yet installed it, so don't know if it reduces load times on my machine...

EDIT:
Also on this thread Dragon Age: Origins Patch 1.03 released for PC and Xbox 360 , there seems to be a few concerns ... Usually argie-bargie over what it does not fix and what it 'nerfs' ... Gads, everyone likes to complain about something ... This is the patch included on the Awakening retail disc, and you definetly need it installed to run Awakening ... For digital downloaders, seems 1.03 is now available on Steam, don't know about D2D...

Some people had problems with DLC after 1.03, but this thing happened also with 1.02

I haven't installed it yet because I am not playing in these days...all my playthroughs are ended. Therefore I'll install it just before installing the xpac...

Goodmorning everyone! Posted Image

I see you guys n gals wrote quite a few pages last night! :)
Better get started replying hehe...

MaxQuartiroli wrote...
she loves so much Andraste... therefore everyone should respect it...
would someone offend my beloved? Posted Image if so.... KAPUT!!!!
I spared Morrigan just because she restrained herself
mmm... maybe I am just a little overprotective?

hehe if I would apply that same rule we would be having a holy war considering that Morrigan is rather anti-Chantry and therefore rather anti-Andraste! ;)
So lets just say we let our lovers bicker amongst themselves about that topic shall we? Posted Image

As we discussed the relationship of men and women recently and have someone among us who likes quotes of Oscar Wilde, i just randomly posts some of his famous quote i like

hehe some of those sound a lot like Lord Henry Wotton's advice to Dorian Grey... ;) Which led to... well several unfortunate events! ;)
To be honest I only read "The Picture of Dorian Grey" by Oscar Wilde, but I did love that one! :)

MaxQuartiroli wrote...
How is the original dialogue in English? In italian they translated something like
"Let's go to bed"

Been a while since I romanced Leliana, but I think the player can ask "Lets go to bed" and I believe Leliana's answer is "I thought you would never ask".

MaxQuartiroli wrote...
What you can say/do with other characters in the camp when romance is completed? I just know from my friends that Morrigan become "cold" ...

That kinda depends on the timing, basically you can do exactly the same things with Morrigan after all the major relationship stuff as you can with other characters, like kissing her in and out of camp (in public) and asking her to sleep with you... However Morrigan has been told by Flemeth that love is a bad thing, like a desease it makes you weak and therefore Morrigan fears love, so when she comes to the conclusion that she is head-over-heels for the warden she basically asks for some time to figure things out and even asks you to break up with her (however she doesn't break up with you either so she secretly really wants to be with the warden), when that conversation has passed however she will still kiss you and be romantically involved with you, but she will no longer sleep with you. Her explanation for this is that she needs time to figure things out.

As for the things she says, well if you get her up to a certain approval rating you get: "Tis cold in my tent", for which there are several dialog paths... Morrigan is also the only character that has two dialog paths if you ask her to join you in your tent, there's the option to let her decide whether she wants to come to your tent, which she sometimes denies you as well just for the fun of it... But there is also the option to tell her: "Get in the tent woman" which became my personal favorite since the replies are always darn funny (she replies with random answers like "NEVER! You will have to carry me!") and it always gets her to sleep with you.
Kissing in public also triggers a party response, which for me somehow differed per character, with one of my characters Leliana always states: "Oh All right you two go on" to which Morrigan replies: "Ohhh, you hear that we have approval".

hehe I'll have to learn them quickly then to keep my geek factor up! :)
Would "Revenge of the Nerds" and the Porky's trilogy be a good source of information on Geeky Kisses? Posted Image

I think I'll wait with patching until I have to hehe... Don't really have many problems with the game besides the exceptional weirdness in dialogs. :)

Just for your curiosity... Here's the review of Awakening by Game Informer

"The Archdeom is dead, the Blight is quelled, and peace is restored tro Ferelden. For a Grey Warden who specializes in saving the world, what else could you possibly accomplish? As a full expansion to Dragon Age: Origins, that's the question Awakening is called upon to address. Unfortunatley, the answer seems to be "not much".

I'd be the last person to complain about getting more Dragon Age; I still love the core gameplay, so Awakening's additional quests, skills, and items are all the reason I need to start killing darkspawn again. However, as an expansion, Awakening doesn't contribute much beyond simply lengthening the time you can spend as a Grey Warden. It feels like a direct-to-video sequel, shuffling the core components of the Dragon Age world to create a new story in a familar skin.

With the major darkspawn threat neutralized in Origins, you're left with clean-ip duty in Awakening. By importing your old character or creating a new one, you'll assure the position of Warden Commander in Amaranthine and deal with the aftermath of the Archedemon's death. The darkspawn that didn't retreat have begin fighting each other, and you need to get to the bottom of the conflict and restore order to the region. The premis is cool-especially since you are essentially the feudal lord of the Amaranthine- but it doesn't evolve the basic formula.

All of the features where Awakening could have built on the Dragon Age foundation are sidelined, like the team at BioWare knew where to expand but didn't have the time to flesh them out. Building up your base at Vigils Keep is just a handful of simple upgrades. Governing the region is handled in a single sequence where you mete out justice. Unraveling a conspiracy against your rule is a brief sidequest. Maybe a 15-hour adventure isn't enough time to dig into these concepts, but they feel pretty hollow and unsatisfying as implemented.

Despite some disappointments, Awakening is still worth playing for the devoted Dragon Age fan. The tactical combat is hasn't gotten any less entertaining, and the story reveals an interesting twist on the world's compelling lore. Awakening enriches the rniverse with new revelations and characters (two of the new party members are particulary awesome), but only makes half-hearted attempts to improve the basics."--- Joe Juba.

Good Morning Lion... No holy war.. don't worry
I was just speaking about "rules" and "discipline" in my party...
What I say/think is law.. therefore also what Lel think/says must be considered "law" from other companions... If some of them doesn't respect that rule.. Here comes the punisher  Posted ImagePosted Image

I'm obviously joking Posted Image

Thanks for posting the review Max ...

As in most things, it will be up the the individual gamer to decided if the expansion is worthwhile or not... My game-play style is very slow, Origins with all DLC's took me 122hrs on my first play-through... The Awakening 15hrs will be more like 25-30hrs for me ... No doubt some will hate it, and others will love it, and we can expect a bloody big raging debate on this until the next expansion is announced and released....

I pre-ordered Awakening yesterday, so no going back now ... :)

The only thing I can understand from the review is that some features of the game, due to lack of duration, would be more and best implemented in a longer game.. but I have to say you that if this is related to management of Vigil's Keep and political government of the reign I would be VERY VERY happy !!!

If you read my previous posts you will see I didn't like in the past these "politicial and management" moments into  games.. I really hated moments such as "Crossroad Keep building" in NWN2.. I am an adventurer, an errant knight.. not a politician, therefore the shorter these feature will be into Awakening, the happier I will be !! Posted Image

Game Informer review was here - but it's a lengthly quote so look above for it :P

Hmm, that sounds pretty sad, I'll keep reading all the reviews coming in, but if the review is right it sounds like a pretty cut down expansion that is somewhat light on the story and doesn't exploit it's potential.

Hopefully it's not the case, but I suppose allot of us have had the feeling it was rushed a little, I hope this reviewer isn't completely right, otherwise it will be a disappointment

The review isn't very clear in what the reviewer is missing, which makes it rather abstract... I must say I also don't put much faith in those review sites, since they often seem to love games I hate and hate games I love...
For example most review sites I read about "Red Steel" where stating how badly the game worked and what a bad game it was, however I played it and thought it was one of the best games I ever played hehe...

we should also consider which were the expectations of the reviewer..
If he was expecting something that could be as more similar as a sequel instead of an expansion.. something like Throne of Baal...he would obviously be disappointed.
To be honest I am already expecting a game like the reviewer said.. a short adventure who doesn't exploit the full potential of the game of the story of Dragon Age World... and the potential of the game itself, with some good ideas that are reduced to a single quest or to some dialogues lines...
Therefore this review doesn't surprise me at all...

Your right, we shouldn't really have expected more, I guess the days of expansions like ToB or Mask of the Betrayer and the Hordes of the Underdark are truly over, it's kinda sad when economics actually cause games to go backwards in some ways.

At least here in the UK the PC version seems cheaper then the US price, so at least I'm not paying over the odds for Awakenings

Still worried about the xpac i see? Remember, given they promised two years of new content for DAO, Awakening might not be the only expansion.

I got mine at Amazon.co.uk and it's currently costing me £14.73 at the moment (I choose Super-Saver delivery so that won't cost me anything, but I'll likely have to wait slightly longer then 1st class, around 3-5 days for delivery)
so it's not to bad, and hopefully the cost might reduce even more slightly by the release date :)

Correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't it said that Awakening has 5 new companions + a former one, which makes six in total?

Not if you look at this page, there are seven slots. That is either a mistake (which i doubt) or there will be something like a secret companion along the way

I never buy over internet with my credit cards...
I use only PaySafe Cards, but they are not accepted everywhere.. Luckly Bioware accept them so I had no problem to bought DLCs..
So I would have to find a online-store where they deviler in Italy, accept PaySafeCards for payement ecc.ecc... too much work... It was better open my door go into commercial center in front of my house and order it...Posted Image

Max, the weather here today is terrible .... very windy, driving rain and cold, damp ... ugh!

Our mensa is in another building, and walking outside today is a major discomfort ....
