Hey people.. I am reading the topic on main forum about patch 1.03.. it seems to be a crap !!!
They have reduced the loading time but people is complaining about:
- frequently random crashes of the game (someone said also 20 times in a session !!!)
- frequently and abnormal lag
- "strange modification" to Shale's looking
- pickpocketing partially broken
My suggest therefore for now is "don't install it"
And... yes.. Curlain you were fine:
Awakening installation will update the original game to this patch !!
Yeah I've heard some worrying stuff about it so I've left the patch for now, waiting for 1.03a or maybe even b

Installed the patch yesterday, and haven't played much. For half an hour yesterday and about 15 minutes so far today, but for now, everything is working fine.

If you consider my game became much more worse when I updated from 1.01 to 1.02 I am going to wait this time...

I like that. The more i think about it, the more i realize my previous statement is untrue. I like Twiggles very very much.

After 1.02 I had crashes in Lothering, in Denerim and in warden's Keep and the only way to avoid them was playing with the lowest video resolution...

I've never had patch problems, but it sounds like I don't want to risk it - especially on a laptop! But, if the patch is required for Awakenings, won't we need to download?
As far as i know, the required patch will install itself when you install Awakening and haven't installed it yet

with my laptop after 1.02 I begin to have random crashes to desktop.. this never happened when I was playing with previous versions.. I made a full playtrhough without suffering a single crash

Always played on lowest setting due to laptop which explained why everyone's eye color is black! hehe
I have had the weird Shale change at the end of the game if you don't do the US ending. Shale looks normal and then morphs into this very huge rock-like thing. Doesn't look like a golem at all, so I don't think this is a 1.03 patch issue.

Could be an issue that they had to reduce Shale's height, which is why he was dlc content and scrapped out of the original game (and make a funny joke about in in-game)

Before 1.02 with my laptop I played with high resolution everytime... after 1.02 I have to change it depending on the areas.. I can play deep roads in medium resolution, brecilian forest and haven/ruined temple in high resolution, Lothering and Denerim in low resolution...

I didn't know that. So when he talks about being shrunk via a chisel, it's an inside joke? I learn new things every day.

Laptop doesn't crash, but hangs-up and I have to Alt+Ctrl+Del then Cancel to get back into the game - sound runs, but video doesn't. This happened with Witcher, too. Upped the memory to 4GB which is all it can hold & upgraded to Win 7. Move resolution past low & will hang-up, so I've just concluded that laptops can't handle games too well. Need to get a new desktop just for gaming.
Well, i recently did, just for DAO. No, not really, my old one has broken down, but hey, i'm not complaining that i can play DAO with a decent resolution and it's running smoothly

Yes.. I believe that for DA2 I will buy a desktop in order to play
btw.. I believe instead of updating your laptop to win7 it was better downgrade it to WinXP... While Playing DA:O on XP I had only two sudden crash to desktop, but after them I restarted the game and after 10 seconds I was playing again...

May I ask which computer you bought? Or did you build? I'm trying to decide and need advice. I want something that will run great, but don't want to pay too much for it.

Yeah, Shale originally had the height of any golem you meet in-game. After she was finished, they suddenly realized he was too large to pass any doors or hallways and therefore a bit useless as a companion if only available outdoors.
That's why they reduced her height to that of a human, and yes, her talk about Willem shortening her is kinda of an Easter Egg for those who know, since his wife complained about the same thing and that's why Shale is short now to the in-game story
