I actually feel sad ending a great book. I get to the last chapter and feel the sadness setting in knowing it is going to end. I am able to relate. I am just really good at moving on..

Yes... same thing for me....
I remember when I finished "IT" from Stephen King, my favourite book ever.. It was so sad say goodbye to all characters... And how he finished the story made the fact to finish it even more sad

Ender's Game for me. I loved that book so much, I read it a few times. hehe
EDIT: Guess that also explains my multiple runs in a game too..

That's why it's so fitting, expresses me feelings after finishing the game for the first time, just to scream at Mr. Lead Writer. And Kirk is always cool

Yeah, with some friends from high school. Once or twice a month.
Sounds awesome, i really envy you. I didn't have time to play pen & paper for years. That was so much fun, i just like good storytelling
It is awesome
I missed it for some years too, due to time constraints, some people moving, etc. Same old story. I don't know how much it will last this time but I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

btw,, I've never played PnP... My imagination is active enough "obviously" but I am terrible with learning rules. I think my twins are way to chaotic to play PnP lol
Just don't play d&d. There are many games whose rules can be explained in a couple of paragraphs.
For example, I play this one.

Yeah, it's always difficult to play on a regular basis when you're not longer in High School. Maybe i should do some phone calls, i still have a bunch of stories stored somewhere that just wait to be told
Edit: you don't even need rules. I occasionally played p & p for beginners without any rules. Just me storytelling and single decide i used to determine the outcome, to get the people accustomed to how it feels to play p & p. Also a good idea if you want to play a surprise story, cause without rules, you have more space and freedom to really surprise the players with a story and twists they never expect.
My players always liked that kind of stories of mine

what can i add. nicely said. Hopefully BW recognizes this too. They have proven with BG that they are capable of doing this, and DAO reached a new peak and has tons of potential that can either be used to produce some pure gold and something outstanding and memorable or be completely wasted into something that vanishes between all the other games on the market and will soon be forgotten
You can say what you like about BW, but one thing is for sure: they're not stupid. They know the market for continuing with these characters is there. That means money.
As I've said, I'd be very surprised if they don't follow this story and characters in an expansion or in DA2 (actually, my vote would be for DA2). But, it takes time. A lot. The technical difficulties are great, you can't do it in half a year.

Where have all you good people been the last months? After finishing the game, most people on the forums where either mocking my fan addiction (it's hard for a grown man being mocked by some High School kids for behaving like a fan boy, you have no idea
I occasionally lose my hope despite being an optimistic person, and before all people were telling like "no continuance, BW does not care, to difficult, boring and so on.
Finally people wo cheer me up with their opinion and make me feel better. Would have made the last forum months easier. So thx Kenrae and the rest here.
Anyway, the stand alone game that is rumored in 2011 is said to be published in the first quearter of 2011. And i guess you all heard of the mysterious release date in the press release copy of Awakening:

Link
So it won't be long after the release of Awakening before we get to know what this is all about

I believe that to continue romances, dialogues and so on with 2d text dialogue like in BG is much more easy, and much less expensive than 3d dialogues, interaction and so on...They were able to do this in the past because it wasn't technically difficult.. Now they have to face this.. I am sure it's not a problem of creativity or willing, but just a technical problem...
Edit.. and also a budget problem.. with 2d text dialogues you just have to write what you need, with 3d interactions they have to create cut-scenes, pay the dubbers, and so on....

Beware, it hooks you more than cocaine and heroine combined
DA:O "drinks" from that source more than anything, you know

Nah. 3d dialogues, interaction and so on are more expensive, but those will be there on any single game they do from now on anyway. It's something completely dettached from continuing romances or not. The added difficulties are comparable to BG2, except that we have many more choices in DA:O than in BG. It's difficult doing it in plain text too, the tree of possibilities explodes. It just requires time.

Seems i was a bit too quickly with my praises here
But seriously, i believe this is no issue at all. Back when BG was developed, gaming was mostly done by small independent companies of gaming freaks. Today it's an industry with all it's merits and flaws. They have ressources at hand the producers of BG 1 & 2 would have never dreamed to have at their disposal one day.
Just watch the credits of DAO and takes note of every name or company that was engaged with the game itself (no voice actors, management or other people, just the ones who worked in one way or another on the game itself). That alone makes more than 200 people to the very least. They can do things in a completely different timeframe than ten years ago.
Sure, making a game is different than it once was, but the ressources are too.
