no.. you have also 2 pisces here.. me and Bri193... Image IPB

Husband is a Pisces on an Aries cusp, so I'm used to Pisces...really, not too much different than Geminis!

As I said before I am both... Gemini is my Ascendant... multiple personalities.. so fun !Image IPBImage IPBImage IPBImage IPB

Ok...so everyone was chaning their image, so I changed mine. She looks better onscreen than I thought. I have the unfortunate tendency to make all of my characters look alike. I've tried to make them look different, really, but I keep falling back to the same old look. I prefer my characters to be brunettes because blonde is just so cliche` - no offense to blondes - my husband is one, but I prefer the dark-haired beauties... :)

I know Grey Wardens are supposed to give up everything including titles, but many people died in the past protecting the royal bloodline and at the moment Alistair is the last (okay perhaps Morrigan as well but we don't know this).

I have to say that I'm selfish when it comes to this, although I feel partly justified.  I mean, no one told me the consequences of being a Grey Warden...not that I still wouldn't have become one, but it would really have been nice to know what I was getting into. So, since I'm only going to live for another 30 years, if I'm lucky, I think I should be happy or as happy as I can be with darkspawn all over the place. So, I usually go for the love, titles & since there's a slim, slim, slim chance, a child.

Indeed !!! In my own opinion the Joining is really a - may I say it? I don't know if it's a vulgar word - screwjob!
I believe everyone must know what is going to do before he decide if to accept or to refuse it..THIS is true heroism..
My character during her origin wanted so much to become a Grey Warden and was really disappointed when her parents didn't allow it... But after I knew about the taint, I get really pissed off

Hmm true heroism...  I would consider this to be a vast opinion

Wouldn't accepting your post fate after the joining, trekking on and doing your best, be the heroism? Not because you "knew" going in.. Because you chose to take the duty regardless?

But see, as a Grey Warden, after The Joining you pretty much don't have a choice.  I guess you could leave, but the damage has been done. Your blood is already tainted, so you'll be having nightmares, body changes, etc. So, actually from that perspective it's easier to stay. Duty and heroism can be mutually exclusive. A hero can be one who knows the consequences, even if dire and still decides to make the sacrifice.  That's why, in my opinion, the US ending is the heroic ending, the others really aren't.

Thanks!  Have you tried the look where their face is screwed-up and they look quite insane?  I laugh at that, but couldn't look at that pic for the entire game! Image IPB

Very valid points. the US is bitter sweet imo..  However.. I don't want dead GW's in my next game   LOL So must have that selfish side.....

Oh, I completely agree.Image IPB   The survivalist side always kicks-in.  It took me 4 full playthroughs before I did the US.  I needed to be mentally prepared for it.  Silly, really as this is a game...it is a game, right?Image IPB

I may give you a "real" example of my "heroism thought"
Once, when I was in the army many years ago they made me escort some people which were at high assassination attempt risk...  it's a pity that they told us this thing only when we were on mission...not before
Do you believe if I had to suffer or to die by an attempt in this case I would consider myself as an hero? No.. because I had no choice... My only goal was to save my life.. and I didn't care anything else...

Everyone else would have considered you as such, as the term "hero" is thrown about so carelessly. I'm glad things worked out for you, as I would have missed meeting you and sharing in your conversations. But, your scenario does illustrate my point.  Note: my husband is a veteran of the Navy and I believe he has the same opinion as you, Max.

Not in my point of view... I like playing games in the way that story must be "my story".. doing only the thing I feel mine... I'm not interested in doing things that doesn't belong to my nature or my point of view just to say "let's see what will happen if...".
Here is the reason because I'll never do the US, or just for an example will defile Andraste's Ashes...  I am not interested in them because they are not mine...

I am mostly refering to the role-playing sense of it all. Which is easily an alter personality. I for example have a very hard time being evil in a game. I can however, do some not so nice things. Purely evil though? It is just not in my wiring.  hehe

in DA:O

I killed loghians men in lothering..  I usually do not. But this last run, I did.
I also gave Lel a hard time and forced her to chase after us before leaving
I have let Isolde take the blood rutial..  puplic serice imo.  lol
I have made the deal with the desire demon. but relaoded and recreated the final scenario.
I broke some hearts.
Killed the bartender in Redcliff..  he was asking for it.  :P
Killed Connor once.
Allowed Loghain to live and do DR using him.

These are not all from the same game. there also may be a few more. None of which are my true nature. Well. maybe Isolde... she is too annoying to live.  :D I did them though. for the RP aspect..

@Liso

I always kill Loghian's men in Lothering! Cannot see any point in letting them go.. I always let the highwaymen go, though ... after they have given the Warden's a suitable payoff...;)

I killed Connor in my 1st playthough, but will definitely have Isolde take the ritual next time..;)

4 for me and then it was a HFN who was all about duty above all else.  It was the rp aspect that made me finally choose this ending.   Otherwise, I'm pretty much of a survivalist.

And I do have one playthrough where I did not harden Alistair, put Anora on the throne and he and I went about restoring the Grey Wardens.  This was a mage who was so enraptured with leaving the tower and the confinement that had defined her life that she understood why Alistair would feel the same and want to escape it all.  Since she was free, she felt it only right that he be free as well.

I haven't been able to get that ending, yet.  When I pick Anora over Alistair. he gets soooo mad!  I must be making some wrong choices in dialogue somewhere...

Anyway, need to run...hope everyone has a good day / evening!  Will try to check back later.  Toodles!

Yay, back from grocery shopping...my least favorite "chore"  Image IPB

He isn't mad at all if you don't harden him during his personal quest.  And if you don't harden him during that quest and have his approval just right, he will also thank you for being there and tell you that he loves you.  Always nice to hear.  I do this anyway, just to hear him say it, then reload and harden him, usually.Image IPB

well.. just finished cleaning, cooking, doing the washing, ironing.. I'm a little tired

I envy so much women's resistance in doing all these things...
