Well that there is an epilogue stating that she is not seen for years could hint at a continuation at a later time which would be quite interesting, or ofc if you want to be pessimistic about it hints at an abrupt ending to the story. Still in other games like baldurs gate they seemed to give more definitive endings to the lives of the characters so I think the open endedness of that is a good sign that the adventures of the warden are not over permanently.
Still not out on steam though, the waiting is bloody well killing me xD
Actually, it take it as a good sign for a reason. I think we can expect the next chapter of DA will not be about a new Blight or whatever. It might involve the Darkspawn, but the main plot will be different. So if your characer has stayed with the Warden's, became Commander in Vigil's Keep and Hero of Ferelden, that would make it extremly difficult to place him/her in a story outside the scope of the Warden's.
Now, after he/she get's lost, they have a cover up stories for any different epilogue the Warden can get (cause as far as i know, in the epilogue of Awakening, they all end lost and unknown in the future, so suddenly the same epilogue for everyone), they can let him/her appear wherever they like, and as he/she is no Grey Warden or at least no longer in service, he/she can also be engaged in different kind of plots. And moreover, it give them an excuse to start with level one - it's the generel excuse of RPG of that kind "oh your hero hasn't done a fight in years, many things have changed, he/she has forgotten so much". In short, for all these reasons, i think that is a rather good than bad sign to assume the then-no-longer-Warden can return in DA 2
