@shedevil... I'm fine thanks.. It's a cloudy day here.. I have to clean my house and I don't feel like it

@vamp...maybe a $40 expansion foresee that you have to play it more than one time in order to discover anything.. if it wasn't so, and it needed just 1 playtrough to discover anything it would be more cheaper.. don't you think so?

You would think that given the price point, but I'm not sure I'm convinced.

You/we are not convinced to play again because, as I said before, we know it's a stand alone adventure... Therefore we know that whatever we missed, playing it again won't change anything for a future game, but only some small thing for the game itself

There are really 2 big choices and they are all at the end of the game.. Therefore if you want to change something you don't need to play again the adventure but just reload one of the last saved game and change your choices

In DA:O there were a lot of thing also in the first moments of the game which you could do/not do and which could change the ending of the game, and we knew that ending might be really different and that depending on how we ended the game a future game should react in different ways...now we miss this "curiosity"

I agree with you though, and noticed the same thing. He came unglued "lack of better
word" by personal attacks. I am not an advocate of personal attacks,
they are pointless and counter-productive. Why he did not address the
real constructive comments was beyond me. Just my opinion, but he
avoided those with a good point. Embraced those who agreed with him, and
retaliated with those that attacked.

I agree with you on personal attacks - very counterproductive. However, expected in these forums - can't really avoid it. I have no doubt that the life of this series has already been outlined. With development for 5 years, they didn't just concentrate on DA:O. The next chapters are already decided and most likely have been in some sort of production - even very early stages for a while. (I'm thinking story arc here and not necessarily the mechanics.) Hopefully they will take into account the positive and helpful comments as the traits that make this game so unique seem to be the ones that are on the chopping block.

I'm not entirely convinced it's a stand-alone, but honestly I have no idea what to think.

I am really good at defusing or escalating a situation on forums. I've had a lot of experience in this. Similar to OEI when SoZ came out, the devs were whiney and lashing out against the criticism. which of course fueled even more chaotic behavior on the forums. I do not comprehend not using a good community PR for these tasks. It is always good to see the dev's post... However, when it comes to defusing a situation, they are probably better off leaving well enough alone.

I can understand that. If you're working on something that's your baby and you think it's a great product then come to find out people disagree, it's hard. You put so much blood, sweat & tears into it. Plus people are not very good at giving constructive criticism. It's easy to get distracted by the negative. It's really hard not to take negative comments personally. That's why I usually walk away and give it some time. Your first reaction on an emotional level usually doesn't help the situation and then it becomes this feeding frenzy...not pretty.

I have also decided that speculating DA2 is far to much stress. I will be waiting to see how the convo system and reviews are this time though, I will not be pre-ordering anymore DA expansions or DA2 until I see how others react to it.

Alpha Protocal and New Vegas are out this year as well. So I have other games to keep me busy,..  hehe

There is another reason I am evaluating now, before to decide if to put my copy of Awakening on the library or to play it one more time.. It's just a little pity I played all of it in a single play session of 16 hours.. It would be better to play it a little slowly.

Maybe in 4-5 times..

Agree with you there.

IMO, Bioware kinda painted themselves into a corner with DA:O. The way I see it, there are only 3 options: maintain the level of DA:O (which is hard to do), exceed previously attained goals (again, hard to do) or fall below previously met expectations (which is very easy to do). Having to do this in my job, the first two are very challenging and imo harder than creating anything new from scratch. Most things unfortunately fall into the 3rd category. I wish Bioware all kinds of luck to try and stay in option 1 or 2.

I could not go through this expansion 4 or 5 times.  I am slugging through my second run as it is..   I even went to all the places to pick up companions first. Which btw! is most of the game!   "sighs"

Indeed.. and I have two playthroughs of ME2 to finish, both of them before half of the adventure
I bought also Jade Empire last week...
Therefore I believe I won't think about Dragon Age for a lot

Indeed Vampy. I understand that a good RPG "true" single player RPG is big money in terms of production. todays standards with all the VO, new engines etc make it even more so. I VERY much appreciate those companies that have not done the FPS only or sports games to make the quicker buck. Seriously. they are lucky to eek out 10-15 hours and charge the same price for a new game.

The companies that are known for their RPG's must stay a cut above to pull in all player types. It is a very wicked b.i.t.c.h to create the type of gaming enviroment that pulls in several different gamers..

I still have some achievements to get in DA:O. Plus seeing what's happening with Witcher2 - haven't looked at any news on that for a while now.
