Hi Sir Sam!

I thought i'd mention. I used one of those re-spec books with Oghren, I completely changed his skills and he quit being a target for gashing wounds all the time. I can not stand two handed warriors. I've yet to figure out how to make them effective and not dead all the time.

lol I did the same today and went even further and commited the ultimate Dragon Age sin!!! :) I respecced Oghren to be a pure tank and dressed him in Cailans armor!!!

Never figured out the gift system this time - have very little idea who likes what.

This is a big problem with the new conversation system... I was talking to Twiggles yesterday and she mentioned a gift to me for Velanna and how she responded weirdly. To me Velanna responded the same but I had an answer that made her completely turn around and be nice about it... Twiggles missed a conversation with her and did not have the answer... TERRIBLE SYSTEM!!!

BostonVamp wrote...
Did you know the cat had some special powers? Not sure what it was, but he was clickable once he was given as a gift.

Well if you click on the item in the keep, then you hear Anders playing and talking to the cat... Not sure if thats the special power! :)

I wasn't even thinking about that (although I might now be paying more attention - thanks for that...grrr.). It's just that developers have one set of goals and writers have other sets of goals and they aren't always compatible. I also get the impression he may offend easily.

I agree! :) The man is a genius when it comes to writing and developing characters and stories but he's not very strong on the forums. Although he has the ability to step in and clear up a confusion in 1 post... HE does anger too quickly to control the masses.
He also likes to zoom in on small things, like zooming in on the fact that one person used "we" in a post and that he interprets that as if she thought she spoke for everyone when there where multiple interpretations possible. He also comes forward as "rigid" sometimes, Bioware for example stated they where testing this new conversation system which means they want feedback, however he started shooting most of it down to fight for the current system... Testing means you don't fight for something you just listen and perhaps give a hint here and there, if you've already decided this is how its going to be there's no need for testing...

IMO, Bioware kinda painted themselves into a corner with DA:O. The way I see it, there are only 3 options: maintain the level of DA:O (which is hard to do), exceed previously attained goals (again, hard to do) or fall below previously met expectations (which is very easy to do). Having to do this in my job, the first two are very challenging and imo harder than creating anything new from scratch. Most things unfortunately fall into the 3rd category. I wish Bioware all kinds of luck to try and stay in option 1 or 2.

Even if DA2 wouldn't be as great as DAO it can still end up being a very good game... If you look at movies, the 2nd part is almost never as good as the first, however its still good and close to the quality... I would be happy with that too! :)
What Bioware has to watch for is not to get ****ey... They produced a winner now, but the mighty can fall very quickly and from the posts sometimes I get a feeling as if they don't really remember that its the fans that make them big.

Okay Character Opinions:
Nathanial Howe: Not had much chance talking him yet, my first character let him go free and the rest I haven't played beyond the keep yet hehe! :)

Anders.: Quite funny and yes he reminded me a lot of Alistair! :) Loved it how he handled Oghren in banther! :)

Justice: Not got him yet, still working on the game hehe! :)

Sigrun: She's my 2nd favorite character, she's funny and highly innocent... Loved it when she told Anders to burn that bush over there cause it was an evil bush hehe! :) Agree though that she comes across as a child, like I said innocent... That however made her funny for me...

Oghren: He was... well Oghren... Some of his banther was funny especially when he tells Velanna about why Dwarves say they come from stone... but for the rest he's still the same Oghren, if not worse than before.

Velanna: I liked Velanna, she was my favorite companion in the game... not that that says much since we barely got to know our companions so really having a favorite is hard. Velanna I think was well done, but I agree she's not even close to Morrigans shadow... She does remind me of Morrigan every now and then how her facial features react to certain answers so in that case she was good to keep my wardens eyes on the only really important goal... MORRIGAN! :D

Mihiari: Don't even get my started, I won't spoil anything but this one really has my knickers in a twist!

@Stealthmaster: Yes, I've read both The Last WIsh and Blood of Elves. Really enjoyed them both. The stories are so familiar, yet twisted. Makes me laugh.

I think I was waiting for the English translation. I forgot all about those!!!  "Must Order books"  :D

That's all I've been able to find in English. Keep trolling through Barnes & Noble's web site to check for any new releases - nothing so far.

Yeah those are the only two published so far in English not sure when they will get around to getting Time of Distain (the next novel in the saga that started with Blood of Elves) translated into English but we'll see (the stories you hear in Witcher about Geralt's death and about the witcher/sorceress Ciri - though they don't mention her name in the game - concern the rest of the plot of that saga).  Anyhow, not sure when anymore will come out in English.

Oh my grocery shop isn't that far from me at all, so it's no trouble usually to get it in :)

Completely agree - if quality of second is close to the first I'd be happy. Just don't want it to plummet.

What pet do you have Stealthmaster? Besides your own twin...  :)

I have a leopard gecko called Arthur (I used to have 3 others, Rex, Rapor and Trask but after many years they have died now, with just Arthur who's around 14-15 yrs old now left) :)

If that's going to be the US title, thanks for that!  I can search using that name. I can never spell the author's name, so I usually use keyword Witcher to find them.

oh!! I used to have Geckos!!  Also a VERY temperamental iguana that lived around 12 years, got to be around 5 feet long with tail, and could whip the heck out of you with it!!

Just googled them (*makes the secret GoogleHead greeting towards Twiggles*) and they look very cute! :)

Talking about pets, coincidentally I mentioned my turtles this morning and one of them has awoken and was sunning like he owned the place this morning... Weirdly enough its the redcheek (called Nessy) that awoke first... Still waiting for the yellow cheek to wake up (which is called Bulldog because his face is "painted" a little like he looks angry like a bulldog hehe)! :)

I went into the ratings for several. Verizon got top rating in CS.. hmm which possibly means they all suck?  hehe  I like the new package I have with Verizon better. And my signal is not nearly as chaotic.. AT&T. it would jump up and down all the time, and or lose my calls!

I would say bring him by to come look at them in the summer, but its a rather long trip hehe! :)
Just in case he ever begs for a terrapin, besides the fact that they need quite a large basin to swim in and have a place to sit on the dry and sunbathe... They smell terribly when the water is a week old... So if you are serious get a good filtration system hehe! :)
I only had mine inside the house for 2 years so never got a real basin for them but built something myself (since they where rather small, about an inch when I got them, they didn't need a very large place) and every week when they needed to be cleaned the water smelled terrible and if they pooed in the bucket I put them in to wait for the basin to be cleaned, the whole room where they where smelled like a waste disposal plant hehe! :)

I will consider such pets when he is old enough to help care for them. Also, when he has the concept that they are not toys!!   hehe

My yellow cheek is sometimes a little bit confused and thinks he's a dog, he wants to be taken for walks around the garden hehe! :) We have a net over the pond to prevent frogs from entering (brown scream frogs are a plague here and my dad can't sleep when they're in the pond since they make a terrible noise) so the yellowcheek pushes himself into the edge of the net almost every day for us to let him out, put him on one side of the garden and let him walk to the other and repeating this several times hehe! :)
