Being Irish, any spices would usually be too spicy for me, but my tolerance level has improved. Don't like it when my lips are on fire after eating.

What she said.  although... I like a little bite in my food. Just enough to notice it? but not to much to feel the burn..  <_<

Sammy.  Did you know, the more spicey hot food you eat, the faster you kill your taste buds. Which in turn, means you need more heat to taste anything. Also means, you do not actually taste anything over time due to the damaged taste buds..   :D  "other than the burn" which is not flavor ftr.  it is just burn

well, my mom was allergic to most kind of spices, so i grew up in a household where spice was mostly never used at all, so i think i have some more years before my taste buds start to crumble than normal people :D

Of my three sis, two of them developed the same malfunction as me and fell in love with spicy food after they moved out. Wonder why ;)

My mom wasn't allergic...just Irish and never really used spices (and still doesn't to this day). It as only when I moved out I realized, hey food has flavor.  lol

That is the beauty of food though. there are soooo many herbs and spices, and fresh ingredients that make up a nice marry of flavors. the trick is, not to layer to many flavors.. then it becomes confused food.   lol  I am really good and combining flavors to compliment, and not drown the food.

Blame the Corrs... I used to be a huge fan of The Corrs which led to me getting interested in other Celtic Folk music and eventually let to me being interested in Ireland and Irish things hehe! :)

No dice for me. Mom learned to cook from her mother-in-law, also Irish, also an aversion to spices! lol

Then i see why you love Morrigan, she is Irish too (no kidding). Shame the only one of the Corrs was willing to pose for Playboy, specially the only one no one wanted to see so that shooting never happened

I somehow manage to this automatically too, I still need to explore further however! :) Always want to learn about more spices etc... though often scared of trying them, always affraid of ruining the food hehe! :)

This btw is often something that I notice with tv chefs etc... they seem to think every dish has to be complicated and always need hundreds of ingredients. Seen trained chefs that struggled making simple normal dishes! :)

Yes - want to go to Ireland some day. Friend of mine is getting ready to go to England and he's thinking about stopping in Ireland, too. He's been there before...I'm so envious.

Love Celtic music - it really does speak to my soul.

I share your pain (if it's pain, for me growing up it was lol)

But we are no Irish, so we have no issues with spice. Though my grandmom was an exception to the rest of the family, her use of spice was a little bit over the top compared to the rest of the family

I have to many nationalities in my bloodline (the fate of being a immigrant, I was born in South Africa ) Irish (from my mother's side, she still has a Irish passport), Cornish, Welsh, English, German and Norwegian that I know of, and then there's the South African influence.  As food goes I like both spicy food an milder kinds, depends on the  day and what's right for it :P

hehe had a huge Andrea Corr crush too... always (and still hold onto the hope a little) considered I was going to marry her even if she didn't know it yet! ;) hehe Posted Image

btw, one of the main reasons I like Morrigan is her sarcasm and "****y"-like nature... I think it would compliment my calm and sometimes too nice nature very well! :) I also often cheer for the evil women in movies hehe I'm weird that way! :)

For food, simple & fresh always better. That's the key...the freshest food possible. Grown in own garden or from farmers' market simply the best.

Very true! Unfair.  If I have to stay out of the sun because I have only 2 shades (white & red), then I should be compensated with a cool accent!
