@ Max MacFluffies.. I know you have said us "Alistair" fans are lucky we at least get our little cameo at the beginning.. Honestly? I rather have not had it at all. After it was over.. It felt empty end pointless. It also felt very cheap and unreal. Anyone that got to know Alistair, knows he would never have left his wife/love like that. Eamon was his regent.. he would have left Eamon in charge and joined the efforts. So, I'd have rather them have not bothered at all.

EDIT: Much like Lel and Zev.. Same thing. they would have done anything to stay there with your pc.. Many may argue about Zevran. Once that saucy son of a w.h.o.r.e fell in love though? He was in it for keeps.

@Twiggles.. There was a lot of things they would have done. We was complaining for weeks before the game exit about all these things..

I had my first blow with ME2.. now with this one...

I just hope they are going to reward us for all this pain in future releases...

Funny 5yo follies

My little one and I are playing pretend fish, with tank, food etc... oh! and one of the fish are named Michele!! haha. now what is truly amusing about that? If you tell Adam "my" name is Michele. He will argue and say "No, she is mommy" the fish can have my name. but I can't.. :P

Just out of a curiosity..there is an interesting topic on main forum where people is talking if it would be better to continue with our warden or if it would be better to begin with a new character...

I am sorry for Sam, and I know he won't like it.. but I am for the second option
I posted my opinion on that thread which was this

Everyone should consider another thing....

A sequel is not an expansion. As a stand-alone game he must have 2 great duties:

1) To be good - if not more - at least as good as the first game
2) To not penalize all players who want to play it without having played the first game

Therefore, forgot they can do a thing like "new origins for new characters + import old characters" This thing under a technical/financial point of view just cannot be proposed

So the available scenarios if they are planning to continue the adventure with the first character would be just:

- Import the old characters and for newbies playing with a presettled character

What would happen with this thing

1) You have no more origins which was one of the best innovation of DA:O
2) You have a limited history because if you want to give a little continuity you have to force the story into some specific way and you lose all freedom you had with DA:O
3) You penalize newbies with a character with small background

Summarizing.. a game which is worse than DA:O

Second option

- Force a canon ending (or a canon begin if you prefer) and therefore you can create more variables and freedom in the story

What would happen with this thing:

1) You still have no Origins
2) You screw nearly all of the players if you force them to forget all the decisions they took in first chapter

Summarizing: A game which is worse than DA:O

Here are the reason why in my opinion we have to hope for a new story with no direct continuation from the first game

SD Would you be happy if in order to let you play your old warden they decide you are no more married with Alistair, he disappears, you are no more queen and so on?

EDIT.. You had the best ending ever.. Queen - married with the love of your life.. What would you may ever hope of better than this?
Sometimes it is also right saying "Yes, I loved these caracters but now it's time to close the book because they did everything they had to do...and be ready to open a new book, hoping it would be even better than this one"

Goodevening everyone! :)

Regular monday which means that everything goes differently than planned! :)

I'm also for continuing with our current warden and I'm not sure I agree that continueing and still allowing new players would be too hard, look at Mass Effect 2 they did it and the word is that Mass Effect 3 will continue even further! :)

Would say I don't mind a new character in DA2 as long as they finish our story up in an expansion, but looking at Awakening I doubt they would be able to pull that one off in a satisfying manner! :)

Okay going to catch up quickly! :)

You cannot compare ME with DA

In ME you are Commander Shepard.. stop. No other choices

In DA you may be a lot of things really different from each other.. You may be a human noble or a dalish elf rogue a nobil dwarf or a mage.
Relationships with npC in ME are not in-depth as in DA
Important choices and consequences on the ending of the game are many many more in DA than in ME

We can't just compare the 2 games because ME was much more easy to continue, and they had still troubles in doing it, expecially with the romances.. and there was only 3 romances with no different endings inside the same romance while in DA you may have differences even inside the same romance from a playtrough to another, therefore...

And ME2 is a full game with a bigger budget than Awakening.

Oh well. Tales from the Sword Coast was kinda crappy too, and then they used that money to make BG2...

yes but theres still so much that can be done with our warden like maybe heading to orlais and invading them its only fair they did it to fereldon and whats stopping history from reapeating itself and if my wardens married to alistair she sure wont allow him to meet the same fate maric reached plus theres antiva to explore and tevinter why cant it be with our warden afterall its still part of thedas all the devs need is some great plot twists and a continuation of a storyline it may be difficult but its not impossible and i thought most gaming industries were all about challenges and doing something new that hasnt been done before that would appeal to alot of gamers

wow. some interesting stuff made. btw, ME 2 is still commander Shepard. However... it is also a stand alone game.. You do not need to have played me1 So.. regardless, you can do the same with DA2. Either be a new character joining into the history of the story.. learning about it and making your own future.. or an old character continuing on.. I refused to believe this is so impossible.. The only way it is impossible, is if they do another rush job.. which seems to be the case regardless

EDIT: Also keep in mind, like all great games or bad ones.  This too shall end. We will move on to another game at some point with our memories of the old. Like VtM - Bloodlines. I break it out once a year or so and do a memory lane play though with new patches from the community... DA will end up much the same.

Too much to read and to comment, so i'll just gonna adress Max.

You are free to vote for or against continuation as you like of course ;)

But as others pointed out, ME 2 did it, it is possible. And i seriously don't get while people always say it it possible in MAss Effect, but Dragon Age is so much different. That is, sorry to say that, simply crap.

Most of the choices in Origins: King/queen, mages, dalish, dwarf only affect Ferelden. If a new game plays outside Ferelden, no one cares what you decided in Ferelden some years earlier. Really no one. If they want some kind of continuation, they can easily wrap this up in one or two different codex entries.

The things athat matter are:

1. are you dead or alive (if it's the former one, you either make a new one or start within a different timeline like in ME 3).

2. What are your romance options (this was also done in ME 2)

3. what is your Origin (thta in a smaller amount also plays a role in Me 2 and can be handled).

The new game will not be about a blight, not play in Ferelden, the only continuance will (if this really happens) some characters that will return, that is it. And that can be easily handled.

The same is true for Awakening. Origins had many different epiloguies. But Awakening has not. Whatever the Warden does, in the end, it is all the same: "he/she disappeared and no onw knows where and why, but it is sure that was not the last we heard of him/ her".
They can simply let you reappear somewhere and say "so, here you are, after you got lost, you spent the remaining years doind this and that and so you end up here". And it would fit for every Awakening epilogue.

I hate to disagree with you, Max, but just because I'm married doesn't mean my life stops. I have a job / career. Yes, so being Queen is a career, but hey, I could go to work as a Grey Warden and then come back home - I don't see a difference and in fact, see it as an enrichening experience for my character.

Eek haven't been here for 1.5 days, so long catchup... Bear with me people! ;)
BostonVamp wrote...
Good morning / afternoon, everyone. I see chatter has slowed down yesterday. Life must have gotten in the way...pesky real world! lol
hehe yup, had a social life for a change on Sunday (nah nothing relationship or romantically unfortunately), the kids my mom often sits came over with their parents and we basically had fun chatting until the evening! :)
Today ... well it was Monday, does one need to say more? hehe
Liso66 wrote...
2) Same with Leliana and Zevran... No word? No mention of why or what they are doing?
hehe well to be honest, was there any variation besides having Alistair / Anora greet you? Ahh yes nearly forgot, Wynne was in Amaranthine or not depending on if you killed her or not and if you didn't kill her she punishes you by making you an errant boy!!! :)
allix22 wrote...
Mhairi annoyed me ..i was like " die die die please die " and when she died " YEES , take that B****"
now i kinda regret it Image IPB
I was really pissed about that, she was the only out-of-the-box tank you got at the start of the game. Though story-wise I could somehow get over the fact that she died (though I was really just starting to like her cause she dissed Oghren!), but the main fact why I got pissed was that she was introduced as a companion. She never was a companion, she was a temporary companion. They never introduced Jory or Daveth on the Origins page either and they where with you longer!!!
allix22 wrote...
Oghren. He's one of my favorite characters Origins included.Liso if you have a character near the sacred ashes quest take Oghren with you when you go .. his impression in the Gauntlet is what turned me from hate to love.
I did that and it made no impression on me, he just states exactly what you already know... Granted its his only depth in entire Origins and also the only line of him in the game which doesn't include an alcoholic beverage or fart jokes.
Curlain wrote...
I was also very dissatisfied with the first Joining
Didn't you also notice that everyone after the first joining, joined the wardens but where just all of a sudden wardens without any mention of the joining or ever partaking in it?
Curlain wrote...
And Oghren - why? Why is he here, I don't see anywhere where he as yet is playing a 'important' or vital role in this story, which is what we were told by the devs, and he seems the same as Origins but worse. To be blunt I'd rather now they had left him out and allowed us to keep the character we arrive at Vigil's Keep with, she seemed to be interesting and have potential. But then again, that would bring me back to the problems with the convo system, and having what look like interesting characters but being unable to interact with them.
Oghren's vital part was to keep the percentage of fart jokes and cheap comments high up and to keep our promillage (alcohol percentage) high enough to be drunk enough to actually consider Awakening a story! ;)
And I agree with you I would have preferred to get to know Mihairi, she seemed like a fun little character! :)
Curlain wrote...
Also the lack of any continuity is slightly irritating, we where told we would have some acknowledgement of our romances, and yet I have not found it yet (the character I'm using romanced Leliana), and apart from Alistair being on the throne nothing else is referred to here.
Besides Romances which I could half-way live with, there was no continuity besides Alistair / Anora and Wynne being alive or not!
Liso66 wrote...
Okay.. I am not as good as Lion with the catch up round up.
*Blushes*
Liso66 wrote...
Cancermeat  - DOG!!! I would rather have had the dog too. :)
Same here, you can at least have a good conversation with dog, besides the new Convo System would work perfectly with him! He likes every statue you click on as a potential peeing target! :)
allix22 wrote...
I don't get it why you people hate Oghren so much Image IPB..i know hes a drunk tool and'all but i feel sorry for him instead of hating him. Please especcially you Twiggles ..give him a chance and take him with you to the sacred ashes "Gauntlet"Image IPB
I think he's either a character who you love or hate, there's several comedians and actors in the world that are the same. Oghren to me is cheap humor and I hate that. :) I was hoping they would give him some more depth and tbh I was hopefull with his family and all but they managed to make him even more shallow than in Origins.
(Mentioned this before but did the Gauntlet thing with Oghren and to me it didn't add that much more depth to him, just more stuff we already knew).
BostonVamp wrote...
It would have been great if when you arrived at the Keep, the seneschel stated that your companions arrived before you and were out recruiting, per your instructions. Those they found who were the most promising would be sent to the Keep. BTW, whoever was the love interest left this note for you and then you'd have a physical item that you could read & re-read. This explains why they aren't around, but it does give a bit of closure.
I love this idea! :) Perhaps for Morrigan a note from the Alistair / Anora to inform you she was spotted somewhere or something! :) Perhaps besides just a note also a gift, a necklace or something and for the Morrigan people perhaps a piece of cloth or something you could wear! :)

If Orlais would invade Ferelden, or Ferelden would invade Orlais Grey Wardens won't do ANYTHING.. because they are a neutral army which minds only about Darkspawn.

In Dragon Age Origins we save circle of mages, we help dwarves, elves, humans, kill demons, decide who is king and a lot of nice thing, but just because there was a blight. If there wasn't a blight we won't mind a heck about elven's problem with werewolves or help dwarves to decide their king...
