Yeah - the people in this thread are really cool people that have brains & manners. A joy to exchange thoughts, ideas & just plain randomness. Even when we disagree, we're polite about it. Image IPB

I guess that countdown has something to do with ME2 not dragon age.

aww, in all those years as a game master i would have loved to have female players, we only had one, and she showed up only occasionally. That was so sad, and none of my players was willing to play a female.

But on the bright site, we might be making a new group for a one-shot story i have been writing for years, and we will have 2 females. Two. I can't believe it.

Weekly games - showed up nearly all the time. It was disasterous if you didn't as our party argued constantly. After a few minutes, DM would say "ok where is everyone standing?" and then we knew we were in trouble.

I remember playing a healer and one week I couldn't make the game. When I showed-up next week, she had been petrified, had fallen over & was pulverized!  I was really hurt - they killed me off!  Fortunately, someone had a wish and I was put back whole, for the most part (was missing an ear, but my long hair covered it up). I take new post for that.

Without wanting to build any excitement, but today, for an unknown reason, a mysterious countdown has appeared on both the offical Mass Effect as well as the Dragon Age Origins website. You can go and check for yourself.

I have checked everything that should be released or announced around that time that i knew of, but nothing hit's that date. Whatever that is it's a mystery for now. Especially remarkably is that it is advertized on both gaming sites, so it has to be something bigger than a new weapon for Origins or ME 2.
Of course, one could speculate BW will reveal details on that mysterious release date next year. Feel free to voice your own opinion.

Edit: mi thought i could be related to the MMO, but that countdown is not listed there, so that is pretty unlikely.

Curlain.. your point of view may be right. But if DA:O writers would had this idea, and these reason beside Cailan's behaviour you may be sure they would have EMPHASIZED this thing in the game..
No one in the game, not even Alistair tell something like "Here's the reason why I wasn't in the battle.. Cailan saved my life" and there are a lot of moment when he's complaining about he's lack in the battle instead of Duncan

Therefore I am sorry but I believe the only reason beacuse you are still alive is just by chance.. And thanks to Flemeth.. don't forget if she wouldn't help you still die in Ostargar..
You are alive thanks to Flemeth, not thanks to Cailan

And now I am really going...
Bye

That is not completely true. When he reveals in Redcliffe he is a royal bastard and says he should have died instead of Duncan and he it just alive by pure chance, you can answer him that this can't be what he truly believes and he admit's he does not.
So he seems to be aware that he was sparred exactly because he is a royal bastard.

Just another random thought...do you think that most of the conversations here (in the forums, not just our thread) are, for the most part, civil because of the Mature rating of the game and that hopefully there are more adults around with the capacity for rational conversation & debate?

I believe we are talking about different forums Image IPB

I never seen in my life a forum full of trolls, ill-mannered kids, arrogant and flaming people like this one.. 99% of my posts are in this thread because is one of the few places into the forum where are all people talks in a civil way and like true friends...
If I would be a moderator I believe I had already banned at least half of the people who write in Bioware forum Image IPB

Well they seem to be filled a lot less with childrens: "THIS SUCKS" replies... there are some of course but yeah I think we seem to have a lot more players on these forums that are mature and know how to deal with problems... I think its because this game has a lot of text and dialogue, most younger players just want constant action which this game doesn't offer hehe! :)

MoSa09 wrote...
you do not real much in these boards outsite this thread, do you? There is not much maturity out there, many people behave like... well not mature.
Though this could also be the internet-effect. Many people, given the anonymity of the net, tend to behave completely different forget all kind of manners when online

hmmmm most of the conversations I've had outside this thread have been quite mature, granted there have been some children but overall the standard was a lot higher than on most forums at the very least! :)
Not that I still leave this thread here very often for the rest of the Bioware forums, kinda stopped defending my ideas on Morrigan on the forums, cost too much time! ;)

True the towns in Oblivion seemed more alive... Loved Oblivion (although the story was terrible!), but personally I prefer DAO, but its a personal preference! :)

As a game master in AD&D Ravenloft  I HAD to be CRUEL
When you open the Ravenloft Handbook the first thing they say to you is "Hey master, the FIRST thing you have to explain to your players is that in Ravenloft's World there are no epic battle to win, great rewards, land to conquer and so on.. No, in Ravenloft the only mission of the player is just to SURVIVE.. If they reach this goal they must be happy no matter anything else" Image IPB

I doubt that. As it is advertized on both websites, it has to be something pretty big. A new IP, a new expansion, something along that lines, bigger than a dlc (at least all dlc before was only advertized on the related website.

The only two things that comes into me mind are that stand alone game in February next year or the new IP BW is rumored to work upon for some years. Of course, it could be anything we do not know, but whatever it is, i am really curious

A countdown to an announcement?
I don't remember well but shouldn't countdowns be only for releases?
But it's possible there is a release they didn't announced?!

IP is the abbreviation of Intellectual Property and within gaming, means a new gaming series that has not been there before. So if BW announces a new IP, it will be a new series of games (or just one game) totally unrelated to Mass Effect, Dragon Age or any other previous BW game, but the first game of a new series

well, a new franchise is just one possibility. The only things i would rule out are new dlc (not important enough to be advertized on both) or MMO related (cause the countdown is not present there).
Apart from that, it can be absolutely anything. We only know it will be something rather big.
Maybe the explanation of the 1.2.2011, maybe the announcement of ME 3 or a complete new franchise are just the three things that come into mind first.

Well, then we should kill every person born before the 16th century if they were still alive. Just saying.

And yeah she uses you, but we also use people in the game! ;)

Maybe. Both are rumored to be released 2011.
I do wonder, though, such countdowns are generally only used for release, not for announcements. It's the first time i ever heard they used a countdown for an announcement. One user suggested it might be the romance pack for both Dragon Age as well as Mass Effect. As always, i want a time machine

Better be an idiot than a traitor who sacrifices the son of his friend because of his fears. Think about the letters of RtO.

ANd idiot who sacrifices others for his own glory and his place in history, by the way.

He did sacrifice his king cause he knew that his daughter was most probably barren and Cailan was to dump her, and that Cailan was maybe ingaged with a woman form Orlais. He was not caring for his country, though me may believed that, he was caring for his own unreasoned fears and hsi believes (like he did with MAric) he always knows best and can shove other people around to do what he wants or kill them. He deserves nothing better than he got

Of course he deserves it. Nobody is discussing that fact. But that's not the issue, even if he deserves it, ending the blight is far more important.
