It's a good thing I knew the Silverite mines quest was bugged as hell and I saved my game just before it, without overwritting it.

ALL of my equipment gone. Only one Blackblade armor piece appears. Not cool.

@Shedevil: so, i thought a bit what you might like and what not, and i have some ideas.

1. My favorite fantasy author ever is Terry Pratchett. He writes pretty funny and satirically fantasy. He mocks all common myths you encounter in fantasy and also very satirical about common social and political phenomena. He books are incredibly funny and entertaining. It's not everyones cup of Tea, but if you like that kind of books, there are more than 25 of them, so there is much to read if you like. There are all very good, but if you are willing to try, i can send you the titles of some of my favorites when i'm home

2. An author i really like, especially his old work, is David Eddings. His first two series, first the Belgariad series and afterwards the Malloreon series, are very good and entertaning. Both series consist of 5 books, and you will see the same characters return in the second series. He has written more book, but i don't like them that much as i like the first two series.

3. An author that seems to be pretty good is Roger Taylor. I only read Dream Finder and liked it. He wrote much more with different characters aqnd all final series to wrap them all up, and as far as i know and as i have heard, they are all pretty good. But i only read one, so i can't say for sure.

4. A series i liked was "Eragon" from Christopher Paolini. The books is intended for young people, but it can also be read by adults (maybe a bit like Harry Potter in that respect), and i liked it.

That's the one i can remember at the moment, if you want to know more, i can look when i come home. But that might take some time.

I hope there are some books you might like. If you have any questions, just ask.

Terry Pratchet is great!

Tad Williams is another fantasy author I recommend. His "Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn" series are marvellous and very original for a fantasy world (unless we compare it to, yes, A Song of Ice and Fire :P). Oh, it's one of the few books I've read where the protagonist is my favourite character.

The Witcher by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski are another amazing series. Dark Fantasy in its purest form. Yes, the videogame is based on these books. I don't know how many books have been translated into English though, all of them except the last one are already translated into Spanish ;).

And, I can't say it enough, A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin.

Hart's Hope by Orson Scott Card is interesting. It's his only fantasy book I think, unless you consider the Alvin Maker series fantasy books. It's curious, this writer has some books I consider fantastic and many books I consider crap... Ender's Game, Speaker for the Dead, Hart's Hope and, specially, Songmaster are really good books. I'd stick to those.

And then there's science-fiction if you like it, but there are too many great books to name them. At least compared to fantasy books where we don't really have that many.

I liked Fevre Dream by him. Searched all over for it because it was out-of-print. Found it in an old bookstore and paid pennies for it.

Hey, you're all discussing books! Maybe you can help moi! I was wondering if any of you knew the name of a fictional war series with dinosaurs/dragons and modern technology elements like machine guns and cannons, etc. That's the best way that I can describe it, since I saw it a crapload of them in some corner of a library a couple years ago. Its name escapes me.

@SheDevil: If you like horror, I recommend Poppy Z. Brite, especially her books Lost Souls & Drawing Blood. I think she's a fantastic writer. Love the way she puts a sentence together and weaves a story. Quite envious of her talent.

It's Boston...it's always bad. I swear, people on the East Coast have no idea how to drive. I've lived in the Midwest, the South & Texas and really, these people are the worst. Traffic all the time...

Lost Souls is vampire. Drawing Blood isn't, but is in the weird horror/fantasy mix.  I'm such a snob when it comes to vampire novels, I really haven't liked anything since Poppy.

Pyrex is right about The Witcher series. Only 2 books in English right now - Last Wish & Blood of Elves. Loved both books - made me laugh out loud at the perverse twists on the Brothers Grimm fairy tales.
