Seriously. I tend to play tanks as I really like to get into the middle of the fighting. I think I'm not sophisticated enough in my character builds to use each of them to their full potential. But, perhaps I should read up on each and give the different types a try.

Never played a rogue, but it sounds like I may need to do so. Other than the ability to pick locks, what's good about them?

They're agile, avoid a lot of dmg... Deal lots of damage... :) Pick Locks... And considering the name I never manage to play without being a bit cheeky and usually mine are womanizers! :)
Ranger specialisation is fun btw! :) Lets you summon a beasty! :D

I've always liked rangers...usually play that in NWN.

So can you be "cheeky" and not "evil"?  I've tried to play evil or make the "bad" decisions and I just find it boring.

After skimming the link.. they better beef up other classes. Or the rogue will be even more over powered... hehehe

Seriously?   "blinks"
They are smooth as silk.. fast, accurate, wicked finesse. they come with several multi classes. such as bard, assassin, duelist, ranger...
They are hard as heck to hit! if you spec full rogue with at least one specialty.. they can even stealth during combat! Which btw rules!

Yeah, what Liso said! I have always loved this class, and DA:O does rogues soo well!
I only play rogues in DA:O .... My one and onlycomplete playthrough was with a ranger/assasin full archery spec'ed rogue ... Graet fun, but over-powered ... after level 15 or so, she could solo the Deep Roads .. I usually left the party on hold at the transations and would scout and clear out entire areas.. I used the party only for major boss battles, i.e. broodmother, Branka, etc ...

Well, armed with my Helm of Asylum, the Gauntlets of Cleverness and the Sword of Truthiness (no "I Love Me" jacket as it makes it hard to hold the sword), I venture forth into the world to tackle the issues of the day. Be well, my Asylum comrades...check in with you later. "waves"

I usually end up playing a tank as well... :) Its the armor I think, I just prefer my guy running around in heavy armor! :) Though I must say I'm currently playing a HNF which is a dual wielding warrior, also fun! :)

I would say yes... Its mostly in the replies and some of the decisions... :) My rogues are usually not evil and usually avoid doing bad things, however they do follow the smell of money and treasure. If you want to play a good rogue you would for example not defile the ashes but do the stealing / break-in quests in Denerim. Mine also did the bar tender quests and the Crows quest... With cheeky I also mean you can steal some kisses from maidens (if you're a guy) or some equivalent if you're a female. It would depend on your own decisions what you would do with the hunter kid in the Dalish camp but I could expect a rogue to sleep with him or the girl.

I'll tell ya.. Tanks are fine. but I find them boring. Also.. there is not one tank in the party that can take my rogue! Alistair behaves because he knows she can kick his ****.. lol I took Loghain down in seconds with my rogue! However, when I used Alistair? Eeek!! Took for what seemed forever to get that battle done.

I usually play more chaotic / 'neutral' type characters, and this fits well with the rogue class. Also I like doing all the utility things - disarming and setting traps, locks, etc. It breaks up the hack and slash you always do as a warrior. And stealth is just so cool ....

Loghan?? poor bugger didn't have a chance with my roge archer .... all over with 3 shot: Arrow of Slaying, then Shatter shot, then Crirical shot  and he was done. He didn't even move or draw his sword ...

I enjoyed my two mages. One Arcane warrior and one primal/shapeshifter.  they were fun. Nothing beats the feel of the rogue for me though.  The sheer speed and finesse is almost a high watching her battle..  So smooth....

I am enjoying the rogue DW animations this time around ... The animation delivering the final blows to the oger in the Tower at Ostagar was very cool .... ;)

@shedevil
I did the mage origin, but never continued on ... didn't really get into the class, and though it might become to much of a click-fest, clicking spell after spell .... I might give it another go after I have exhausted the rogue class

I believe the most-boring character to play should be mage-healer... I don't know anyone who tried a playthrough playing a Winnye-like character...

I think the animations are bound to the weapons you're carrying not the class... If you have a dual wield warrior it has the same animation as a dual wield rogue on the ogre.
