All men are exactly like Mike Tyson. Why just yesterday I bit off someone's ear. This is a regular daily activity for men.

If somebody head-butted me then acted like they didn't, I'd bite their ear off, too.

The only romance option I get any satisfaction from with male PCs is Morrigan. Leli sets off the psycho alarm. That could well be my own fault, however. I find it hard to stay in character with male PCs and end up viewing everything though my own RL experience. I do plan to keep trying though. It might help to really flesh out a back story for my next one before I even start the game. I haven't tried a relationship with Zev yet, so I need to give that a shot as well.

On a side note, if someone comes up with a mod that makes Ser Cauthrien a romance option, they will be my hero for life.

The whole romance thing, and the game in general, has been much more enjoyable with female PCs.

My human noble is starting to warm up to Zev despite her initial reaction. She is beginning to think there is a lot he hides behind all the bravado and is becoming rather intrigued. Alistair she finds annoying and is starting to lose patience with him. Coming from a family where the men are confident and comfortable with leadership and command, she doesn't get Alistair at all. Especially since he's a Grey Warden and all. He might be more tolerable as a companion after hardening, but I don't see any future for him as a love interest. She really wanted some time alone with Duncan before the battle, but modding that in would be totally against Duncan's character. I can't see him taking advantage of his position like that.

My mage, on the other hand, fell for Alistair right away. She loves his sense of humor and sees all the potential he can realize with a bit of prodding. The way he fumbles for words to express his feelings is really charming as well. Zev was annoying right from the start and she had to put him in his place. Leli hitting on her was flattering and has her imagination going full blast, but she hasn't pursued it any further yet as she knows that it would break Alistair's heart.

My city elf was really affected by the whole origin story. I already knew she was gonna have a bit of a chip on her shoulder from living in the alienage, kind of a Kara Thrace attitude to life. (I even got her face to somewhat resemble Katee Sackhoff. Need to try out the Toolset and see if I can perfect it.) But that origin story. Just...damn! Kudos to the writers. I haven't been hit like that from a game in a long time.

Anyway, back on topic, she is really having a hard time not gutting every human on sight, especially males. Morrigan, however, is an exception to that. The whole mission in the wilds, with human males no less, was very uncomfortable. She was more scared of them than darkspawn at the beginning, and viewed them with contempt by the end. Morrigan putting the “little boys” in their place was very satisfying. I think she fell in love with Morrigan right then. Image IPB  After travelling with Morrigan for a while now, my poor little elf is definitely head over heels in love with her. I tried starting over with the mod to allow a female relationship with Morrigan but it kinda fell flat, so I've gone back to the original game. Probably because the mod makes her think you are male. The whole experience is a lot more satisfying with the unrequited love thing going on for some reason.

The whole male/female wiring this is a big generalisation indeed.
I'm a straight female, but I'm pretty butch by a lot of people's definitions. I have long hair and wear make-up but I train with heavy weights and have a huge muscular back that I'm very proud of. I like action movies, despise chick flicks, never, ever wanted children despite people saying I'd change (I'm 42 now so that's not going to happen) and whilst I do have a bloke in my life, I need a LOT of space. I did one of those male/female brain tests and I'm fairly balanced but tending towards male. I have a hard time multitasking as well and get distracted very easily.

I do play male and female characters but my favourite playthroughs have been male (romancing Zevran). My blood mage enjoyed his fling with Morrigan but my favourite was my human noble who ended up with Anora. I could really see him falling for her, and agree I'd have liked to see more of a developed relationship there.
Perhaps DA2 will be more like ME2, with a lot of relationship options to choose from.
Leliana I don't really relate too - she's too girly and too religious. I only really enjoyed romancing her with my lesbian elf.
I still haven't romanced Zevran with a female character but he's great in a gay romance.
