I bought ME 2 foor the 360 and have enjoyed it like hell during my time playing, but after looking through threads on this forum (especially the mod thread) I get this feeling that I have bought the wrong version. Since we have so few basechoices with armor and casualclothing, I definitly think that PC has a great edge, but I enjoy playing on my 360.

Which one do you think is the best platform to play on?

PC is better, but the 360's ok, I guess. How you can enjoy playing a shooter with a controller I will never understand, though.

I'm currently running around as a Vanguard that wields a Revenant and had both Slam and Reave as bonus powers. Needless to day, I prefer the PC version.

The graphics are exactly the same. I can not see any difference at all. I use hdmi cables and have an HD monitor and HD tv I play them on. The controls are a little better on the PC only because you've got full control and there's no aim-assist.

But I like how they set up the teammates squad powers on the 360. you press left or right. on the PC you have to press 5,6,7,or 8. I've got nerve damage in my left hand so it's tough for me to move it quickly enough from the numbers back to wasd. Other than than the controller/Keyboard Mouse they are exactly the same.

It's nice to sit back and chill whilst playing it on a tv with the 360. Controls are good really as you don't need to worry about quick precision shots. No mods though :(

Prefer my PC for any FPS games and online shooters though hands down. Can't beat a mouse and keyboard.

Both versions have their ups and downs though i've only played the 360 one at a friend.

Would be better if through cerberus network some of the better mods became available.

I'd go for Xbox.  The mods are nice, but like a lot of folks these days, I spend all day at work sitting at a computer.  If I'm gonna relax, I can't be bolt upright 2 feet away from a screen - I'd die.

Also - how you can enjoy playing a shooter with a mouse and keyboard instead of a controller I will never understand.

I QFT here, but really, it's up to the individual person to choose what they want for their entertainment dollar.

Specs on the PC are usually better. But this is clearly a console game at heart.

I wouldn't buy a PC game if it was available on another platform that I own. I prefer my games to work out of the box than spend an hour figuring out why it's crashing every five minutes.

Honestly, Dragon Age has some great mods you'll miss on consoles - ME2 has a few minor tweaks, nothing that makes or breaks your gaming experience, at all.

While I prefer the PC version - the game looks just better (and again, in Dragon Age the visual difference was huge, for ME2, not so) and a shooter played with a controler is awkward for me, ME2 is a console game that got ported onto the PC.

Plays almost exactly the same on both systems, so it comes down to personal choice. If you were talking about DA, I would definitely say PC since the gameplay is more inline with Bioware's intention.

Yeah. It essentially comes down to what you prefer. Would you want better controls (mouse & keyboard) for a shooter, or more comfort as you sit on your couch in front of a big T.V.?

The XBOX360 isn't as linear with it's capabilities as the PC version is (you CAN mod with XBOX360, it's just a lot more complicated), but the two versions are essentially the same.

xbox is more cinematic experience. i enjoy playing ME2 on the xbox more and if i could, i would. but the following reasons are why not to play on xbox.

bioware games are too good for xbox. they require hundreds of hours of gaming. the xbox is not capable of running for a 16 hour mass effect binge. simply put, the hardware does not meet the caliber of the software.
the disc swap is also terrible. i know its a small detail, but again, the xbox is not made for frequent disc switching, which will be a problem to people hungry to play numerous characters in a row.

so basically, if you're going to play casually a couple hours a day, go for xbox. but if you are a hardcore bioware/mass effect fan who is interested in prolonged gaming, go pc.

Weather its a port or not pc is much better than console by a longshot especially when it comes to shooters.

16 hours!?

Good god, man.

Anyway, isn't that bad for your video card? ( not to mention your eyes)

My thoughts are as follow;
  • Assuming you have a pc that can run the game smoothly you will get better graphics, modding if you like that. Also, the game is cheaper on pc.
  • Have you played ME1? If so, on which platform? Importing your character is important of course.
  • If you're doubtful whether the pc can run the game or not and you have a 360, well then the 360 might be the way to go. It might be nice to not have to worry about possible installation problems and other conflicts that might occur on pc (not that it's too common perhaps).
  • Keyboard & mouse vs gamepad is a matter of preference I guess. So is gaming in front of your pc vs gaming on a big screen tv. Perhaps you have a comfortable and expensive computer chair which you like better or a very nice couch? Or perhaps you have your computer connected to your tv?
I for one have no choice really, because my computer is too old. And I like gaming in my couch better anyway. But I mean, technically I cannot say that the 360 is better, because it isn't.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the disc swapping on the 360. But I guess it's better than a smaller game, right?
