Ok so I am going to go straight into the good stuff.

Essentially I launch Dragon Age and get an error about side by side configuration. I have already done an enormous amount of research on this subject and have found that the problem is usually attributed to the C++ Redistributable from Microsoft.

I tried to remedy this problem 3 different ways (manually working from a system restore point where Dragon Age & Bioshock 2 did not work, but Mass Effect 2, Call of Duty MW2, and the Original Bioshock were still fully functional) this system restore point had the Microsoft 2008 C++  Redistributable installed, and again the games I listed in parenthesis were working fine.

I first uninstalled the 2008 Redistributable and downloaded and installed the 2005 Redistributable, restarted the computer (even though it did not prompt me) and ran into a massive error. Essentially, this install made every game unplayable (all of those I listed above).

Next, I uninstalled the 2005 Redistributable and reinstalled the 2008 without a restart, and tried to launch every game listed above. Of course, I was back to square one, with Dragon Age and Bioshock 2 still giving me the side by side configuration error.

Lastly I tried launching each game through the program 'depends.exe' (using the .exe) to see exactly which dependencies each game required. Of course, both Dragon Age and Bioshock 2 gave me the side by side configuration, telling me that a MSVCP80.dll file could not be found within my system. A quick google search later let me know that this file was part of the 2005 C++ Redistributable package.

My drivers, directX, etc are all up to date (I fixed these first), and I'm so frustrated right now, as I am bouncing back between 'somewhat working' and 'completely broken'.

If any fix could be thrown out there, that'd be greatly appreciated, and I will be checking back very often to try to work with you guys. My question is simply: Is there some type of conflict of compatibility between 2005 and 2008, or is there some way to have both installed on the computer at once?

I am running Vista Service Pack 2
