I'm new and when I start the game, I cannot pick up the pistol. The screen says to hit spacebar and I do, but nothing happens.

Did you reassign the keys? Use the key assigned for Use/Cover/Run.

not sure if it's a cause, but it is usually a good idea to post your system specs.

Low FPS would be another possible explanation.

FPS?

Frames per second.

Check if your System meets the minimum system requirements and post your system specs here.

To check your fps, download Fraps (http://www.fraps.com/), and keep it active while playing, fps should be displayed in the upper-left corner (default-setting)

"Your search for « pistol » returned 4 result/s."

Where is the data?  Please read Chris' message, pinned third from the top.  It includes the requirements.  If you actually pass those, and searching hasn't answered fro the symptom, fill in the missing information as per the bottom half of his description.  Thank you.

As per prior comments.  When you can follow up, then someone may have something useful for you.  You haven't chosen to be interested enough in a fix to do as instructed.

5 PFS is bad, very bad... That will make gaming terrible.

Theres you problem NVIDIA Quadro NVS 160M is not for gaming, its meant for workstaion.

Only 2 options get a new computer with a proper graphics card, meant for gaming or buy a new video card, but that will depend on your power supply.

Not only for a "work station", but in fact for a very cheap, very low quality type system, being the same as a 9200 onboard chip (generally, not an actual, useful, video card, as the game requires -- although nVIDIA and its partners have some overlap back and forth between their video chips and extra low grade discrete cards with the same numbering).  Cap that by the limitation inherent in buying a laptop, that video is a dead end 99% of the time, no uprade path at all.

Well basically yes, unless you buy a proper video card and replace the Quadro, but you'll most likely need to replace you power supply too.

Next time, please look at the system requirements before you buy any game, that way you wont lose that money, as you can not return opened games.

Get a proper computer that meet the available specs. Or, if you don't wanna spend a lot of money on a new computer, modify your current computer to meet the needs of ME2. My cousin did it, and his computer is older but runs faster than my new one. BTW he has two HD's installed in his.

God, I should've stuck to consoles. You need to be a Rocket Scientist to do this PC stuff.

Theres nothing you can download, you have to buy a new computer or upgrade parts. You need to know exactly what parts you have in your computer, without that knowledge, upgrading will be impossible.

if you want to play ME2 or any game, then you will have to spend money on a proper system or buy the console version. Still you'll lose the money you spent of the game.

There is no magic software that makes the game perform better on your PC. You need better hardware.
