Hell, Tali saved my ass way to many times to count back in Mass Effect 1, you see I am a reckless heroic, so some Krogan would charge Tali and I would get in the way, I'd shoot him in the face with a shotgun, and punch him a couple of times, but then he'd knock my ass down and start kicking the **** out of me, then Tali would kill him with a Tech grenade. We look out for each other, a true team.
Man, I miss those tech mines.

Not that I don't like her, in fact I like her, specially on ME2, but ME1 Liara is by far more "damsel in distress" than Tali ever is. Hell, the "oh, i'm sorry, i'm exhausted for looking at someone's mind when Shiala gave you the Cypher without that much trouble, can I go now?".
At least Tali really looks like an strong character, psicologically -.-
EDIT:
Oh, and yes, Tali's drone is one of the most badass powers of ME2 for a Vanguard.
EDIT2: Liara is more damsel in distress than Liara? WTF? I need to stop playing ME2 this much.

Except on Heavy Mech situation she was not in danger, she could run away if possible. Her squad was the one that was in trouble, because they screwed up and started doing their own thing instead of following orders, and got squashed by heavy mech. Tali herself followed the situation from safety and helped wounded. If Cerberus wasnt there to cause disturbance amongst Tali's squad, things might have gone differently.
Otherwise, yeah. She seems to be in some sort of trouble. ME1 with assassins, Geth and exile on ME2. But you have to write a story somehow, Tali just fits in distress situations. And 3 isnt that much. Liara has been saved 2 by now.

Some people need to relax and read peacefully. I said I liked ME2 Liara, specially because of what she did to let Cerberus ressurrect me/shepard (until I discovered that, I though Liara was a B*tch like her mother xD Time corrected me).

Kal'Reegar owns! But Kal'Reegar himself admits that Quarians are not good frontline fighters (for obvious reasons), they have to fight smart and preferably from orbit. They get their arses kicked otherwise, if not by bullets then by bad infections they might get from wounds.

Well fighting from the orbit didn't seem to have turned out well in the Morning War either.MaaZeus wrote...

Exactly this. Believe me, the scorecard is even.
And no, you don't save her from the heavy mech in ME2. You try to save her idiot teammates. Mechs never give Tali trouble. Hell she was hacking Geth Turrets in ME1 and taking out entire lines of em in the endgame.

It seems to be the Quarian condition.
Yes, it seems that almost every Quarian needs to be rescued. Usually from their own stupidity. I don't think there was a single competent Quarian in Mass Effect 2, aside from;

But even he further compounds just how useless Quarians are when you listen to his dialogue about the Quarian military on the Flotilla.

Not in my Vanguard play-style.
The more people in the first battle line the better, keeps enemy distracted from you, free to Shotgun in the face some people. Snipers are usually just ignored. I usually pick Tali or Grunt to get that job done, then some Barrier-destroyer like Thane, Garrus or Miranda.
Oh, and Tali is some serious Killing machine with the Shotgun if you position her correctly =)

Not really. Talis father, Rael, and that other admiral were bad-ass before they even got on their pilgrimage. They stole a ship and destroyed a pirate attack by themselves.
Also, the Quarian flotilla is probably better for fighting the Reapers than an army of Krogans. Unless Krogans can fly in space, they'd need a giant space fleet of their own to be real help against the Reapers.
