Not really. Talis father, Rael, and that other admiral were bad-ass before they even got on their pilgrimage. They stole a ship and destroyed a pirate attack by themselves. :police:

True, but they lose bad-ass points on account of being idiots.

A poignant rebuttal, especially since you don't supply any reasons why they are idiots in your view. <_<

I thought it was obvious as to why those two are fools.

Admiral Loghain: He wants to go to war with the Geth, despite being horrbily inferior in terms of military strength.
Rael: If he wasn't an idiot, Tali's loyalty quest would have never happended. That ship full of Geth was a monument to this stupidity.

As for the Rael, I think it was more desperation at wanting to get the homeworld back and building Tali her house. He sounded pretty level-headed in that e-mail.

As for Admiral "Loghain", I would think that he, as an admiral, has a better grasp on the military capabilities of the Quarian people than we do from our very limited information standpoint.

That doesn't mean that I am advocating for the Quarians to go to war, quite the contrary, but to call those two "idiots" is doing a disservice to their limited storylines. I think their behaviour is rather more indicative of desperate people, who are running out of options, fast.

It reminds me of the line he says to you when you try to persuade him to not push for war. "Then we will need a world to shelter our none combatatives." He does have a point. I am not saying they should  go fight the Geth but from his perspective, if Shepard will need a fleet of ships to fight the Reapers, does Shepard expect the Quarians will send ship full of civilians and children into battle? It is not that the Quarians have a huge fleet, but that they fleet houses their entire population.

The conflict of retaking or finding a new home is best reflected in Tali. On the loyalty mission Tali will devil advocate Shepard's opinion of what they should do (new world/retake the homeworld). Even if Shepard flip flops in the dialogue, she will counter both sides of the arguement.

The thing that really doesn't help the quarian image is how they've spent about 300 years now with that rag-tag fleet of theirs while humans got multiple colonies going all over the galaxy in what, 30 years or so? Just makes this 'desperate people running out of options' thing look like result of their own ... whatever it was that made them waste so much time. The sheer apparent pigheadedness in insisting it must be that one planet to settle on and no other even if it means suicidal war which could be otherwise avoided... also doesn't help as it just seems extremely unreasonable.

This is mentioned in Ascention. Basically the quarian leadership thought for the longest time that staying in the fleet would provide an incentive for future generations to retake the homeworld. However, they overlooked the fact that they basically screwed themselves over in terms of establishing an industrial base for rearming for such an effort, not to mention the fact that like Han'Gerrel said, they need somewhere to drop off the civvies before going into battle.

However, there's also the fact that there don't seem to be a lot of planets capable of natively sustaining dextro amino acid based life. Practically every other species in the galaxy appears to be levino amino acid based and the only other dextro amino acid based species around are the turians.

Also, the Quarian flotilla is probably better for fighting the Reapers than an army of Krogans. Unless Krogans can fly in space, they'd need a giant space fleet of their own to be real help against the Reapers.

Krogans are building ships now! Didn't you hear they got caught trying to build a Dreadnought class ships! So they are building them, only question is if they can actually work it without destroying it when they get pissed!

And as for those dissing Tali, all characters have their strengths and weaknesses. Tali is more of a mid-ranged fighter, and yes, her drone is totally useful cause it helps provides you like 10-15 seconds of time to shoot at a boss. If your fast and good, you can get like 3 sniper shots off or 2 clips from an automatic weapon. That's a lot of damage that you get WITHOUT TAKING DAMAGE.

Being a damsel in constant distress is her shtick. Part of her appeal to the... people, who like her, I suppose.

Me, I'm tired of saving her incompetent ass. She will survive only one of my ME2 playthroughs, just to see what the "No one left behind" ending looks like. After that, it's burning alive, getting the headshot, carried off by bugs, or being left on Haestrom for her.

As someone who plays as an Engineer, I certianly do not underestimate the value of the combat drone. It's just that Legion also has this ability. Only he has a powerful sniper rifle rather than a shotgun, which I find to be more useful.

I can't tell you why this is, but on my Tali/Legion runs, Tali always used her drone much better than Legion did. Legion seemed to do better with Hacking. And I prefer shotguns. Especially when you give Tali the new Eviscarator. Glorious.

+1

But even in my Pro-Geth playthrough, I'm keeping Tali alive because I want to see her reaction when I decide to side with the Geth and fight against the Quarians in the battle for their homeworld.

Are you just searching for anything with the name "Tali" in the title and necroing it?

Because the people who like her are typical shut in neckbeards. They need a waifu that must be constantly white knighted and who is 100% submissive at all times. I honestly doubt that after reading tali's dossier she isn't the only one masturbating.

Holy F*** didn't realize this was like necro'd 10 minutes ago.

They are brilliant team together...I max out Tali's drone and max out Legion's AI Hacking and sit back and watch the slaughter...they are a very effective team.

Because the quarian military sucks.

Yes. Yes it does.

Kal'Reegar makes this point invalid.

He was injured and needed your team's assistance in order to survive the geth. He had alot of military bravado and he was likely a decent soldier, but for elite quarian marines... meh.
