I personally rather Ashley and Miranda. I like a girl that puts on a harsh front and doesn't play cute.

I think Tali was specifically designed to appeal to nerds in Mass Effect 2. She's cute, she's shy, she's loyal, and she adores you. What more could you want?

Designed for the nerds? I might agree with you, but the description you gave me says otherwise.
Its like saying puppies were designed for girls.

2: She didn't need saving, she was quite safe behind cover. Well... as safe as anyone could be with a rampaging YMIR mech stomping about.
3: There are a few dead geth right inside the door, if you notice...
4: Or not. She is completely willing to take the fall for her father's reputation.

Almost everyone in ME seems to be a total dumb always in need of be saved when he/she has not Shepard covering his/her back. At least Tali is one of those characters who always tries to fight back when she's in trouble: she does not close herself in giant bubble waiting for a miracle, for example.
She doesn't fight on Freedom's Progress or Haestrom. Her squad fights.

Because on Freedom's Progress, they were idiots who charged in ahead of time. Her priority then changed to trying and save those who still could be saved. Had they followed the plan, she would have been fighting along with both you and them, and it wouldn't have been a giant FUBAR.
On Haestrom, she did fight. Just not after she got blockaded in that room. Or did you not notice the wrecked geth in there with her?

Yes, but she does have to bear some responsibility for not being able to control Prazza on Freedom's Progress. She was the leader.
And Haestrom? She locks herself away in the observatory..."waiting for a miracle"

That was their objective. And she got cut-off through no fault of her own. And of course she locked the door: she'd have been zerged to death otherwise. What the hell else was she supposed to do at that point?

.
That said, I think it's unfiar to call her a damsel is distress, she is not helpless. As people already said, saving crewmates are a recurring factor in Shepard missions.
.
However, is Haestrom she totally screwed up and showed her lack of leading skills. Both Miranda and the Shadow Broker state this. Actually, the latter is negatively impress if you bring Tali along to fight him.

I don't know...ask "Alienmorph"
He is obviously disappointed that Liara didn't kill all the geth (+krogan) on Therum. Maybe he has an idea...

She wasn't in charge on Haestrom. Kal'Reegar was really running things. She was basically the mission specialist. Also and again: Haestrom wasn't her fault. They were fine until the geth swarmed the hell out of them all.

Of course she was. And she is to blame there, as I said, other chracters in ME2 say this too. And saying They were fine until the geth swarmed the hell out of them all. is like saying: 'Everything was all right and it wasn't.

Point being: why are you blaming her for something utterly out of anyone's control? They simply weren't set up to handle such a situation. They were screwed, period, once the geth started spamming dropships. All they could do at that point was hope to get in, grab the data, and get out. The geth just sent more platforms, and made even that impossible.
No, there are plenty of situation that Shepard rescues somebody that got in a situation because it was out of theirs control. Tali in ME1 for exemple. But in Haestrom is different. She had a mission, a team, and coudn't handle it. She is not resourceful and prepared when comes to this kind of things.
.
She is a genius engineer, that's it.

I wouldn't blame her, but I would blame the writing that insisted on setting up such circumstances.didymos1120 wrote...

For a candidate member for 'the best of the best', Tali has precious little content to support such a claim. Our greatest citation for her engineering skills weren't even in ME2, but Engineer Adams in ME1, and that's more of reason to hire her as a mechanic than a citation of her field-skills. In ME1, she was a scrappy Quarian of a team which made no pretensions or claims of being 'the best'.
For her and Garrus to be included in such a group in 2, the writers have an obligation to support that sort of claim. Which, in both cases, was less demonstrated by the presentation and more claimed despite the presentation.

The best of the best? Few on the team can qualify as professional if you ask me.

Not to say I wouldn't like to see every squaddie get their own crowning moments of awesome next game, rather than them needing rescuing. But in the end Tali wasn't brought on board for combat skills, she was known to be trustworthy and skilled with engineering/tech. (Would also like to think that convincing her and Legion to work together is a good sign for the whole quarian geth conflict)

There's only a select few who'd I say are unprofessional. Tali, Garrus, and Zaeed are the only ones who acted "unprofessional" during their loyalty missions.
