Tali: What could I possibly be suggesting? I mean, a young woman gets rescued by a dashing commander who lets her join his crew and then goes off to save the galaxy?

If that isn't a recipe for Damsel in Distress then I dont know what is.

Better than the lame and very generic ice queen routine other characters are doing.

Well different strokes for different folks. When playing as a male character in an RPG game, I tend to approachh romances the same way I would in real life. I do not mind the "ice queen" type of female who doesn't go all out about how she wants to have sex with me in our first few conversations. If I really see the girl as a potential GF, then I would like for her to have her guard up and have somewhat of a wall. This is why someone like Ashley appealed to me  because she was very.....human no pun intended. She teases, but not to the point where she is just trying to play hard to get. She makes it clear that she has a sexual attraction to you, but only after a you've gotten to known each other and even then, she still continues to tease and make fun of you and so on. Point is, I like to flirt and you can do that with Ashley. With Tali in ME2, there was no flirting, it was just Shepard coming down to check on her and next thing you know she is talking about linking suits.....

This. Unless you're bagging at nightclubs/bars, most RL women are "hard to get". Look at it this way, when I met my wife she realllly disliked me, till she let her guard down and we got to know eachother.  That's the "realism" that I appreciate from the Miranda, Ashley, and Jack romances.

I do agree that Tali was a bit too abrupt and it's almost OOC. But then again, Liara was kind of like that as well. Both were supposedly shy. But eh, it makes them somewhat distinct from the others. I personally like Tali and Miranda (meh on Jack). And I like Ashely as well.

Of course none come even close to rivaling Morrigan. But I do not have to see the above as mutually exclusive. Well in bed maybe, but still :P

Ah yes, Morrigan, the greatest Bioware LI since the video game was created. I really hope they don't dismiss that claim.

You ought to see our Morrigan thread. It's five hundred pages of us (well, mainly Brockolloly and terra_ex, but the rest of us occasionally pitch in) ranting about bugs and worrying over the possibility of Gaider dismissing that claim.

Trust me I do. Use to post there too. Until Laidlaw ruined DA2.

This is why I personally believe the Ashley romance is the better romance (in my opinion). For starters it is more of a realistic approach like you described about your wife. Plus there is a notion of doing something very forbidden, the idea that you're romancing one of your crew members which the Alliance has rules against.

With Tali in ME2 even though she is 24 in the game, to me, she comes across as much younger, more like a 17 year old who is just not coming into understanding of her sexuallity and is eager to explore. This is another reason why I like Ashley more because she comes across as very experienced in the sexual department. Also Ashley is one of those women who really do not need a man but they do appreciate it if/once they have one. I like women like that, those who in some situations are just "one of the guys" but not to the point where it is just all out tom-boyish because Ashely IS very feminine, passionate, and romantic.

Ashley in ME1: "Thats quite the view commander and romantic....if you're into that sort of thing.

Ashley's poetry might be cheesy but it is Bioware's attempt to show Ashley's much softer side and I like it. She has a soft side, but not to the point where she is submissive like Tali in ME2.

I dismiss that claim but mostly for bardic and dalish reasons. :D

*snorts*

Now I'm imagining the various LI camps as the Five Families.

I agree, she's the best romance I've seen in a Bioware game and the main reason why I decided to play as a male Grey Warden.

I'm hoping they can add a Morrigan like LI in ME3 by adding Aria. :)
