So this is how its gonna be. We know our women are playing the US tonight, and very likely that our Canadian men will play US in the Gold Medal game on sunday, assuming they beat Sweden.
So far... Canada is going for Gold against the USPosted Image

If team canada loses at mens hockey, I'll have to hear everyone at my university complain for weeks. So, go team canada!

The mods work for a company that is based in Canada. I'm quite afraid to actually say anything.

No matter who wins, the caliber of the game was excellent, ladies! Both of the ladies hockey teams (usa and canada) are excellent. But it seems Canada's got a better goalie. Great game. I'm from Minnesota (where a few of the US girls come from/reside) but we like hockey and have huge respect for Canadian hockey here. Gretsky still rules. And Bioware isn't just from Canada, they're in Edmonton. That just means hockey.

Speaking of games, I'm watching Kevin Martin skip at curling against Sweden (I recorded it earlier because I couldn't watch at the time). Congrats on a great Curling team, and maybe the best skip in the world.

How can one be anything but awed by the caliber of comptetion we're seeing these games. The last group of ladies figure skating made hardly an error, and nobody embarassed themselves. The gold medal winner skated so well I was actually on the edge of my chair and had tears in my eyes.

I wish I was closer to Vancouver. You guys (our friendly neighbors to the north) have truly done yourselves proud these games.

I guess you can tell I like Canada. Drove nearly across it a few years ago and what a beautiful place full of friendly people. They are a pleasure to visit.

This.

I'll be up awfully late (or early... 3:30) to watch this and hoping will kick your butts like we did with Sweden.
Maybe your wish CAN-USA will come true... in the fights for bronze

If the Canadian's can come out like they did against the Russian's I don't think there is a team on this planet that can match them, possibly the USA if Ryan Miller can stand on his head again and play the game of his life. The Canadian team has found their game now, so it will not be the same results if we get past Slovakia and into the gold medal round against the USA. The switch to Louongo in goal has allowed this team to come together quicker then if they had stuck with Brodeur. With Brodeur you have a goalie who plays the puck like a 3rd defenceman and if the defence is not used to a goalie like that it can backfire real fast. Luongo, for the most part stays in his goal and makes saves, which makes him much more predictable to his own team mates and easier to play with. Also I do believe Luongo is still at the top of his game where as Brodeur could likely retire after this season. I just hope Canada can make it to the gold medal round because I want so much to see them beat the USA and take gold on Canadian ice!

GO!!CANADA!!GO!!

Ahem, for you to get the CAN - USA -final, USA have to get past Finland, and that is no trivial task. If I had to make a guess, the final will be Slovakia - Finland. Slovakia has shown to be very good team, and Canada is always way too arrogant. Well, usually. Fin - USA is a though one to crack, since USA has more talented INDIVIDUALS, but if us finns can get the "drive" and be a team again, we have a good chance to win...

We are talking about the men's hockey now, aren't we?

What's so weird about the hockey is how many American (NHL) players seed the other teams. It's weird to hear references to various NHL teams' players playing for other nations. It seems a bit weird to me.

For the best hockey to watch, we usually enjoy our high-school hockey tournaments. Those kids just really skate for it. There's no money involved (well, college recruiters are there) and it's clean skating, very little checking and fighting, just good, fast skating.

At least Canada doesn't need to borrow from us to form a team. (If they did I didn't notice, but why would they?)

Yeah, the Finns really had a horrible period.

Vansen: I wouldn't be counting the gold medal just yet. If we get by Slovakia, the gold medal game is going to be one helluva tough matchup. The US team is damned good, and Miller doesn't need the 'game of his life', IMO. He's a damned good goaltender as it is, and he's playing well. The US team is going to play hard, and you can tell by this game with the Finns that they're hungry. They're going to bring it against our boys and there's no telling what the outcome is going to be.

*edit* I'm just pissed that I have to work when the gold medal game is being played. Going to record it to watch later, but there's not a hope in hell that I won't know the result beforehand. Bummer.

Hmm if Canada beats the Slovaks tonight, we will be playing our neighbours south of the border. If Canada plays like they did against Russia, I am sorry but... US wont stand a chance. But Canada needs to want it

If they don't want it, then US will walk all over them. But, my money is still on Canada. Play hard, and we will be unstoppable

Still the US has played great during the medal rounds. Jonas Hiller played the best game of his life saving 42-43 shots. And was impressive against Kiprusoff and a more NHL stacked (quantity) team than Russia. I'm sure it will be another great game. If anyone was wondering 2-0 Canada 1st intermission.

I didn't see that match, only the results and it was shocking... I know that finland has a bad habit of breaking under a lot of pressure (though they have great players) but 6 goals in first 14 minutes? That's just... uh...

And shame about our match with Canada >_> if we weren't so passive for the first 50 minutes and if we played more often like in those last 10 minutes we could've actually won... oh well :( I almost got heart attack from the last minutes

Well, can-usa is going to be interesting for sure.

If the US plays like they did against the Fins, and Canada plays like they did against the Russians, we'll have a nice 13-12 final score in the gold medal game.

Yep, sure looks to be an interesting game. Canada is going to avenge their loss.

Still I am a bit worried. If they play like they did against Slovakia, we wont be winning the gold.

I really want Canada to win, the US players are talking trash talk against our team. Should be a good game
