When Crosby scored the winner in OT I jumped out of my seat and I was cheering as loud as I possibly could. Suddenly there was someone pounding on my door and it was my landlord from upstairs whom I rent the basement suite off of. She asked if I was OK, and I told her I was better then OK and I was just having a proud Canadian moment because the Canadian Mens Hockey team had just won our 14th gold medal. I then invited her in to watch the medal presentation and we both sat there, trying but not succeeding in holding back our tears of JOY! When she left, we hugged first, and she told me she was leaving for Whistler that day to do her part in the Paralympics and would be gone for the better part of March.
I saw this same thing right across the entire country during these games, Canadians celebrating to be Canadian, celebrating our Olympic winners, celebrating the games in general and most of all having so much fun doing that....it was glorious indeed.

I heard some of the media types saying that the US wants to win but Canada needs to win. While I do think the media hyped up the game but there is some truth in that initial statement. I am a long time fan of hockey and I was a bit disappointed the USA lost but after a few minutes I was like oh well. I could only imagine what would of happened if Canada had lost that game but they didn't. Anyway, I enjoyed the Olympics. USA set the record for most medals by any country ever in a winter olympics? Not to mention nabbed the first gold medal in bobsled since like the 1930's or something. Plus, the first ever US medals in the nordic combined.
Sigh, I can remember watching those human interest stories on some of the athletes and getting choked up a few times.
*I wonder if the NHL players will be in the next winter olympics? There are some rumors that they won't. Something about how this year was good because they were in North America and it was a dream matchup. However, there is some concern about traveling across the world and due to weird times nobody really watching the games. Plus, if the medal games aren't good matchups nobody cares.
*Crazy, crazy, crazy. I heard tickets for the gold medal game went for up to 10,000 dollars from scalpers. I thought the year the Rangers won the cup when tickets scalped for 2000 bucks were alot. 10,000 is crazy.
*Not to take anything away from the gold medal wins of the Canadians but the most amazing metal(in my opinion) was the Bronze the Canadian figure skater won after losing her mother before the competition. The mental fortitude that had to take was amazing.
