Just completed Mass Effect 2, I felt like one of the strongest moments of the game was seeing harbinger leave the master-collector. The collector seemed lost without the reaper using him, and for some reason, that slight use of no-expression on its face made me feel sad for the collectors. For a moment there, when Harbinger told the Collector that he has failed, it seemed as though the Collector was begging him not to leave. However, I'm guessing whatever the reapers did to the Protheans left them almost as mindless as the keepers are (Only the keepers have a programed purpose) and that the Collector was mostly clueless as to what was going on once he was free.

I imagine Bioware are cooking something great for the final chapter of the game.

That moment was a kick in the quad. In some cases maybe you are better off dead ...

I thought Harbringer said to Shepard "you have failed" just because he thinks your attempts at trying to rival the Reapers are futile.

I figured that in a last act of defiance before it died the Collector General transmitted the info on Harbringer that they hand to Shepard.

Harbinger (The Reaper) told the Collector he has failed and that the Reapers will find another way.

I'm guessing "Another way" means looking for a way to come back from Darkspace now that the Citadel Relay is shutdown.

I doubt that, it doesn't seem like the collectors have any more intelligence than a robot. They all seem to be programed to do what the Reapers made them do. I doubt they feel oppressed by the Reapers in anyway.

The Collectors are probably the resault of the previous harvesting of the Reapers.

What I'm curious about though, is what happened to those few Protheans that built the conduit. Vigil said they most likely died, but for a place so central in the Galaxy, a lot of things arn't known about the Citadel.

If that is revealed to be true in ME3, it would be an awesome twist. The Collectors were just pawns afterall, and maybe the Collector General was just being puppeted by Harbinger. Perhaps the Collector General had a will and freedom before being overtaken by Harbinger. If so, I would feel terrible for the Collector General.

Was that base the ONLY source of collectors? Was that ship the only one they had? If not, and they got released, what becomes of any remainder? Aside from that, I'd actually like that twist if the collector general regained enough of his former identity to give one final F-U to the reapers before getting blown away...

The data Shepard receives is because EDI hacked the systems. The Collecters were pawns with no free will.

No he doesn't i checked. When the lights of his eyes fade, he just stops and turns around. No fiddling with the controls any more

I actually feel worse thinking that the General was not capable of doing this even after being released. The idea that the General were so helplessly dependent on Harbinger that without him he couldn't even comprehend his own death is depressing to me.

It is important to note that suddenly, and against all probability, a Collector General had been released from Reaper control, several miles above the reactor core, from which a large explosion was racing and since this is not a naturally tenable position for a Collector General, this innocent creature had very little time to come to terms with its identity. This is what it thought, as it fell:

Ugh! Whaaa? What's happening? Who am I? Why am I here? What's my purpose in life? What do I mean by who am I? Okay okay, calm down calm down get a grip now. Ooh, this is an interesting sensation. What is it? Its a sort of crackling in my... well I suppose I better start finding names for things. Lets call it a... talon! Yeah! Talon! And hey, what's this bright stuff, shining into what I'm suddenly gonna call my eyes? Light? Is that a good name? It'll do. Yeah, this is really exciting. I'm dizzy with anticipation! Or is it the light? There's an awful lot of that now isn't it? And what's this thing coming toward me very fast? So big and bright and fast, it needs a big, fast sounding name like 'Oom', 'Zoom', 'Loom', 'Boom'! That's it! Boom! Ha! I wonder if it'll be friends with me? Hello Boom!

Curiously the only thing that went through the minds of the Collector drones as they saw the explosion was, 'Oh no, not again.' Many people have speculated that if we knew exactly *why* the the Drones had thought that we would know a lot more about the nature of the universe than we do now.

Heh, by way of Douglas Adams, lets take it a step further-lets have The Doctor, from Doctor Who, show up in the ME universe. Boy, that'd be a trip.
