Maybe it wasn't in the game because there wasn't enough Space left on the disks... Just an opinion sooo therefore it made an ideal DLC option.

I am prepared to pay for DLC... if it is substantial... those 5 missions... they are for free... so I doubt, there be a lot of RPG in it... Probably more shooting than anything else... I just hope the maps are interesting!
.

If you remember Mass Effect 1, the free DLC Bring Down the Sky was a lot better than the one we had to pay : Station Pinnacle. So I don't think the fact that it's free clearly means it will be bad.

I actually liked Pinnacle Station

I think, there were so many people complaining about the MAKO, they took out the hammerhead from the game in order to NOT risk lower reviews! Many reviews actually say lack of MAKO is good...

So people who did not like MAKO will not complain aboout it (but will about planet scanning :D ) and those who liked it, can download it now...

So in short: no mako/hammerhead = better reviews!
Mako/Hammerhead DLC = Makolovers happy

Everyone is served... kinda!

Not really, most people that were complaining about the Mako were moaning about how bouncy it was, how it couldn't get up hills and how empty the UCWs were.

These could have easily been overcome by lowering the physics, adding a turbo boost, shrinking the UCWs by a third and adding a bit more to do on them - these would have made the Mako and UCWs much more fun.

Instead, as with nearly everything they couldn't be bothered fixing, they removed it completely.

You don't chop off your hand just because you have a splinter.

I really hope that with the Hammerhead they do a proper job - integrate it into the main plot somehow and allow us to exit and enter it, otherwise it's just going to seem half arsed.

I really have doubt about how much they gain on removing mako and adding planet scanning.

I don't really complain about planet scanning (but must videogame reviewer did). It adds a "mini game" to the game itself, but I regret it because it generates the mako/land exploring has been totally removed. I would also love if they can add more minigame (and obviously a normandy turret fight, like they did in KOTOR). I would have preferred to fight the collector's laser probe with my turrets rather than with my gun. My opinion ...

For sure, the hammerhead and its five missions won't give it back, but it will serve as a beta for ME3 (or an add-on, maybe). If people loves it, they will keep it, if people don't, they will find another idea (or forget this idea completely).

I hope Bioware will continue this way. They are definitely my favourite game producer.

I also enjoyed Pinnacle Station, TBH.

Wasn’t as bad as people made out. Might not have been worth the cash, but I still enjoyed it.

This "Kasumi" character...wasn’t she in Dead or Alive?

I liked the Mako and miss it allot. I know some people **** and moan about it, but i didn’t have a problem with it.

Replacing it with the scanner was an interesting idea, because in ME1 why would you need to actually go down to some planets when you could scan others?

However, why do you as Commander Sheppard actually have to do this scanning yourself? The Normandy has a full crew (as mentioned by Miranda when you first get aboard), failing that why can’t EDI do the scanning? I’m sure she could do it faster and more efficiently then any human..

As for the shooting / turret mini game suggested: again, why would Sheppard do this? Garrus Vakarian is the gunnery Chief, but again there is a full crew to do this.

Even captain Kirk didn’t do everything.

What’s next? A cooking mini game to feed the crew?

Back on topic! Yay for the tank!

I'm honestly excited about this addon but what I'm wondering, is this DLC gonna revolve only around the hovertank where you get to only shoot some bad guys or are there some other minor side-quests, dialogue options included as well for post-suicide mission time-line?

I wouldn't suggest that BioWare deliberately took the content out - that borders on conspiracy theory. I just think it wa content that wasn't quite ready yet.

Preach on brother.

Seriously, you read all the time about how Hollywood producers and SFX wizards are given 18 months of production/postproduction, and 9 months to do it. Does anyone seriously think VG developers are NOT under that kind of pressure?

I do agree with you, but if we start there, dunno where we stop.
I'm commander Shepard, why can't I send Miranda and 2 other people on a mission and take a rest ?
I'm commander Shepard, why can't I destroy that Berserker Base from orbit with the Normandy ?
I'm commander Shepard, why can't I ask EDI to scan this planet for me ?

Just because this game is made for the player to make the most by himself. And I'm superhuman, I'm sure I'll be better than most of my crew using the normandy turrets :).

I would also actually be very happy if I could some of the time takes control of my companions, like they did for Dragon Age. Adding to the game is never bad. So I'm for as many mini game as they can find, if it can gets the ME3 lifetime from 60 hours (ME2) to 100Hours, who will complain ?

I really don't believe in Kasumi. We'll see the future. I just hope it's a codename for Liara ;) (even if I know it's not)

If only! LOL
Forget Bioware's rendition of Kasumi, bring on the readhead ninja with the jiggliness from DOA!

On a more serious note, that concept art of Kasumi is just one big red herring on my opinion.
for those of you that have said it's an unmasked Tali, you could be right. It could also be something that the art department just cobbled together to throw us off the trail to leave the big reveal as a pleasant surprise for all of us.
The concept seems very cheap and half-hearted, so don't expect Kasumi to look anything like this.
If this new character is supposed to be a master theif, then expect someone with a little more charisma than a Tali clone.
I forsee the grungey, punkishness of Jack, coupled with the elegant sultriness of Miranda.
I have this feeling she may not even be human. lol

I hope that these missions are sizable. Not 10 minute N7 missions; if it is that short we know it was made that way because it was free.

Sorry, but I have to respectfully disagree with you there.  As they've always said, it's supposed to be Shepards story.

What they did with Joker in ME2, while interesting really screwed up the immersion for me and It could very easily have been done as a cutscene.

This is your opinion, I understand your point. I have no immersion problem playing another character sometimes. It actually adds a lot. I really loved the Joker part. I felt like I was part of it, not just a spectator waiting for something that will eventually happen.
Role Playing Games are Role Playing Games, I can play Shepard Role, but I would have no issue playing Mordin's role for a few minutes, for instance.

I'm quite confident on the fact that the ME2 developers share your opinion, so you shouldn't worry :)

For all of you out there that have embraced this news of Hammerhead DLC with nothing but joy, optemism and giddy excitement for the good things to come.
I salute you! You're ALL kick-ass people.

for all of you out there that have done nothing but moan, whine, question, assume, ****, complain, berate and outright jump to ridiculous conclusions based on 5 static screenshots...

You all a bunch of F**king childish ingrates who really don't deserve all of this hard labour and sleepless nights that Bioware is putting into making all of this DLC for us.
If you really can't feel any posivity about all of this, I suggest you just go sell your copy of ME2 to someone appreciative and go find fun elsewhere.

****ing signed, kudos, printed, framed, and hung on my wall.

Hey can we get a DLC thats a target practice game revolving around a bunch of collectors that just stand there ****ing the whole time? Or a melee game where we pop that idiot from horizon in the mouth repeatedly while he quotes some of the idiotic **** fest comments in this and other threads. I'd drop 2000 bucks to start development of that right now.

Some tidbits about the storyline of Firewalker would be nice, just a taste, (I hope there is). Are they actual missions, or are they more along the lines of N7 assigments?

Until then, though, I can share 5 mission ideas of my own:

Mission 1: Geth Base

There has been intel suggesting that the previously disorganized Geth are becoming a more focused threat, preparing a massive campaign against organics. Use the Hammerhead on a planet that has some Geth activity, blasting your way to a base. Once inside, you clear out resistance on foot. Eventually, you are greeted by the holographic image of a new AI creature, with some Prothean/Reaper influences in its design. This conversation suggests a new level of organization to the previously disorganized Geth heretics. The AI was hoping to acquire Shepard alive, "to see how you are able to resist us," but it is now unsure if that is possible. Humans will soon be too few in number to resist the Geth. Ending the conversation triggers a deathtrap which Shepard and party must get out of.

Mission 2: Geth Offensive

As a result of the previous mission, you learn of a massive Geth offensive against a critical Alliance installation. After driving to the besieged area in the Hammerhead, you must coordinate the installation's defense. Repairing automated defenses, deploying gunships and surviving soldiers to key locations, etc. How well you do this determines how much resistance you face. If too many soldiers die, then the installation is not held.

Mission 3: Escaped Convicts

Prisoners who escaped from Purgatory when you freed Jack are causing trouble, (including Billy). This would function similar to the bounty hunter sidequests in KOTOR. When you corner an escapee, you can arrest them (Paragon) or execute them on the spot (Renegade).

Mission 4: Pieces of Sovereign

Some of Sovereign's remains are unaccounted for, you must find out what happened to them.

Mission 5: Showdown

The final battle with that mysterious AI representing the Geth Heretics. In addition to being a powerful enemy in its own right, it would also have a Geth Prime as a bodyguard. The end could tie into Heretic Station if you haven't completed Legion's loyalty quest.

Where did you hear this?  Nothing on the G4TV website says anything about this, nor has there been hints of it anywhere else.
