I hope this dlc is more then a racing/twisted metal type thing. I am kind of hoping for a bring down the sky sort of mission.

Yeah, I gave in and watched the video.  From the beginning parts of it, it looks like you go to an uncharted world and actually pick up the Hammerhead in a crate, so at least there it doesn't look all Twisted Metal-ish.  But it looks cool, speeding around blowing s**t up.  I hope there's more to the missions than that; it took awhile for me to get over the nightmares of Pinnacle Station.

Time out sir. Pinnacle Station was a good way to train yourself if you were a sucky shot. And, it gave you achievement points. I'm one of the few who actually liked Pinnacle Station.

Yes, Achievements are tasty, and in a way it did help you if you were a sucky shot, but it had zero story impact aside from saving someones butt from landing in jail and you getting a retirement retreat (that meant nothing cause it didn't carry over in ME2).  I was getting at I hope that this has some meaning in the story and isn't another shoot-em-up on the side like Pinnacle Station.  I hope it's more like Bring Down the Sky.

Don't get me wrong, I liked Pinnacle Station at first, although on subsequent perfect playthoughs it became a nightmare because it was simply a chore to get through (if you didn't get tired and turned it down to Casual  ).

I spammed the pinnacle station training missions and got my kill achievements with weapons and use of techs and bios.

Anyone who disliked the exploaration in ME is not a true sci-fi fan. Remember the cornerstone of sci-fi is to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilisations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.

Every time I landed on an uncharted planet in ME I had strange feelings in my lower regions from excitement. This is what sci-fi is about!

Anyway the Hammerhead stuff looks like Quake 4 vehicle sections.

Really what is is the point of this VEHICLE if all it is going to add is more stuff to shoot?

The first time you play ME1 and land on a planet it's exciting. But as you keep playing it over with new profiles it gets repetitive. I liked the exploration, but what I just said is to defend the people who didn't. :innocent:

Sure mako runs could get repetitive. But the solution shouldn't be to delete the section of game play. I liked many of the mako missions to death. Dealing with admiral khokohu(sp) and finding his missing men. Feros and noveria missions, where you are pitted against heavy geth infestations. That was fun for me. Running down geth, stopping suddenly jumping out of my Mako and putting a few slugs in the Geths head. Or that mission where you find loose rachni besieging an alliance squad. That was like aliens!

LOL

Do you honestly think Kirk or Picard would be excited to land on an uncharted world from ME1??

Atleast the Hammerhead is not a ripoff of the Tau Hammerhead from W40k, although I wouldn't stop laughing if it did invoke a lawsuit from GW.

As for something serious, what's the info about the Firewalker?

Let me guess, what you like in ME is not the RPG part ?
Let's be honest, if you've only seen a meteor shower and some rocks in the Mako exploration missions, I would advise you to play to ME1 again.

Looks similar enough to me. But seriously, Blizzard didn't get sued over the Tyranids and Sphees Muhreenz, doubt Bioware will over a slight visual similarity.

So you might see some space pirates or geth every now and then who buy all their bases from the same store.
Very rarely do you find something remotely cool, like the space monkeys, and thats it. Nothing to write home about.

The rest of it is just driving up the side of a mountain.

Looking forward to this, btw Michael its one thing to not rise to rumours, but dont deny the existence of a (potential/theoretical) character that is even mentioned on Illium news broadcasts as if you know nothing of her, the rumors are rampant and granted they may well be utter b****cks but the name and character setting is there (though she may have as much substance as Admiral Hackett) nonetheless.... innit :)

If Bioware would be sued by anyone it would be themselves, the Hammerhead is practically identical in many respects to the Mako minus wheels, plus tail flaps, (ok the similarities aren't quite that basic but you know what i mean) I'd say a similar move by James Cameron's  HK's in Terminator and the Dropships in Aliens. Practically identical, but, well, not quite...

(A litigation story would be over the similarities between the tekken 6 opening vid and Aliens, (RV's practically identical to the RV in Aliens)

I'll listen again but I haven't heard about Kasumi on Illium. I play a French version of the game and maybe it was not translated.

I can't speak for Adster, but I'm definitely NOT an RPGeek. A game comes out, on one end of the spectrum, you get people complaining about a "dumbed down RPG elements, lack of immersion." On the other end of the spectrum, you get people complaining "why I am talking to people when I could be blowing stuff up," then there's a good chance that I'll believe there is a "healthy balance between the two." So I guess I'm more a fan of the GTA style, a "sandboxer." ME isn't that either, but it's the closest thing we got "GTA in space" for the moment.

It sounds like you have the PC version, not the XBox version, given your previous "F button" comments. But on XBox, ME2 is 2 disks. I imagine on the PC its what, 5? There is only so much content they can add/alter without requiring a new disk, which would NOT be free. I think the idea was that it's like the turrett minigame in KOTOR and the airship minigame on Jade Empire. But the pack said "5 missions," not 5 minigames, so surely there must be more to it than that. The screenshots show the Hammerhead on Korlus, which is where you pick up Grunt. So I'm guessing you either return there for something, or it's added to the "Recruit the Krogan" mission.

If I have any gripe regarding ME2 exploration or lack thereof, it's that in ME1, all clusters where available on the Galaxy map, except the Pangea Expanse. But here, clusters only open up if you get an assignment. I want to go to Tuchanka, chew the fat with Wrex/get dissed by Uvenk, make some money on dogfighting/pyjak shooting, buy some Serrice Ice Brandy from Ratch, and research Fortack's upgrades after my bittersweet reunion with Anderson. But NOOO, I have to wait until the loyalty missions. Likewise for Illium. Why can't they be available at the same time Citadel is. After all, TIM tells you that Wrex and Liara are there pretty much at the get go.

And Star Trek has always better at exploring its mythology than it has with "anomaly/bumpy foreheads of the week." I tuned in to see characters like Garak, and tuned out whenever we got actors in bad pageboy wigs. So the reboot should have more of the former, and less of the latter.

Right, because every SF film and book I have ever read had tons of tedious driving around doing the same boring crap over and over again.
ME2 makes a lot more sense because you would think technology has gottne far enough to locate minerals instead of tracking them from a car...which was moronic.
So I guess I am not a True Sci Fi fan? Pretentious much?

Because ME2 makes so much sense by having the Commander and Spectre Shepard spending her time on menial tasks like scanning planets for minerals when the ship's AI or a cadet could do it.

When scanning a planet I didnt take it as Shepard was personally doing, figured the crew was. I mean Shepard isnt personally flying the ship around the map

You're still pretentious.

Beyond using the whole black and white "you're not a true etc" arguement, you're definition of sci fi is limited to prettymuch just star trek, which is incredibly dull. Not that I don't like Star Trek, but it is far from synonymous with sci fi. The bottom line is the mako elements were rightly gutted because they weren't fun. I did enjoy the mako to some extent, but it was greatly outweighed by the tedium. I'd personally like to see something in between for planet exploration. not completely seperated, but still designed enough to the point where it's not barren. launching probes didn't do it for me either.

I stopped right there. Are you telling me Mass Effect 2 on the PC had 5 disks??? Where did you get that number?

Because i'm sure it was 2 disks and we did not need to disk swap because we can install the game on the Hard Drive.......
