You know, the Mako may have been slow and ponderous, but I'm wondering if controlling it might be preferable to a vehicle that goes 120 kph. I hope it has really good suspension and a tight turn radius.

Hurrhurr. Suspension on a hover vehicle.

Hit a speed bump in a hovercraft traveling at 120 kph, then come back and tell me you feel it needs no shock absorbtion.

@Forsakerr yeah I saw that, but I read it more as a case of a 'landmine' type thing. plonk it down and then move the hammerhead back to lure some stupid colossus onto the mine and BOOOOOM!

you could be right, it could be to deploy mines ,i guess we ll know when a dev or bioware dude tells us or when it comes out

It's hardly a hovercraft in the sense we're looking at it (as in modern incarnations). The thing doesn't rest on a bed of air, it friggin' flies around with vertical thrusters (probably plus an eezo core to reduce the mass and make it possible for those thrusters to lift it up without using an ungodly amount of fuel/thrust. I'd be hard-pressed to call it a hovertank and more like a spaceship limited by gravity.

I miss the base elegance of the Mako. The Hammerhead looks like it was put together out of lego.

Except that the Hammerhead can't hit speed bumps due to the height it travels - the screenshots show it travelling pretty high up where it can actually avoid most obstacles.

I am a little sad that its only going to have 5 missions with it, while I can believe that there will be more missions for it later on, its disappointing that as long as we have known that it would be coming there will be what seems like so little use for it to begin with. Then again these mission may be so massively huge and have so much to do in them, we will get some real good use from our Hammerhead.

On a totally semi off-topic moment...What is up with these things being named after sharks?? And WHERE IS THE FREAKING LAZER BEAM!

"Coming in late March" kind of reminds me of "This holiday season..."

but, if I read it right, its free, so I guess I shouldn't complain, right? So...we should expect this out sometime in June, right? ;)

If the missions are similar to say, Zaeed's loyalty mission, I'd be thrilled with 5 of them.  If they are more like the N7 missions, I will be a little underwhelmed.

Alliance naming procedures follow patterns.  Frigates named after battles, Cruisers named after cities, Dreadnaughts named after Mountains...  Tanks are named after sharks.

While the tanks don't have individual names, they still have the class names.  The Mako class tank, similar to the Everest class dreadnaught.

Screw the Hammerhead.

The Mako was intact at the Normandy crash site!  I want it BACK!   The thing is indestructable.  It survived the Collector attack AND crash into a planetary body without a SCRATCH.  You can drive it off MOUNTAINS without even hurting the suspension.

When I go up against the Reapers, I'm going to strap like 80 Mako's to the haul of the Normandy.  I'll be unstoppable.

That's great news! I hope the five new missions involve more dialogue than the first set of N7 missions.

Also announced is a new heavy weapon; I'm thinking it's going to be electric based

Heck, standard shipping crates are indestructable in this game.

The Mako would sometimes get a ding in its right front wheel when I drove it off cliffs.  An annoying problem my mechanic could never correct.

I second the Renegade One, and the plan to strap 80 Makos to one's ship. HOWEVER. You are not going far -enough-, I say. You must get 80 Makos... and train them to all fire Shifty-Looking Space Cows. Within the span of -seconds-, the Reapers will be bankrupt.

How could this plan go wrong.

Legion: "ShepardCommander, all the heretics are now safely reintegrated into Geth society."

*Geth Armature steps out and blasts the Hammerhead*

Legion: "Well except for those Geth. The consensus is those Geth suck. Please kill them."

Sweet! Nice to have a date for when to expect it.

I just hope the missions aren't just land, kill a bunch of geth and then return to the ship. I'm already the max level so i don't need another XP dungeon.

By the way, does anyone know if we can play these missions without having to start another playthrough? I've finished a couple of playthoughs already, I loved ME2, but I'd love to not have to dedicate another 30 to 40 hours (or do that horrible planet scanning) just to play these five missions.

I agree.

If this is coming out in late March that means any other DLC is also probably delayed well beyond that. So anyone hoping for Kasumi or other DLC soon is going to be waiting until May or summer it looks like.

I am not complaining, I like having something to look forward to.

Agreed, Zaeeds mission was not to short for what it is and had just enough to do to make it feel worth the time. If all 5 missions are like this and have decent moral options we get to use and see the effects of; then 5 missions will be more then enough to keep us busy until the next DLC. But as you said if they are like some the N7 missions, no matter how nice they are they are going to feel like a rip off for how long we have waited for the Hammerhead.

Also...It better have a freaking lazer mounted on its head! cause we all want a freaking shark with a freaking lazer beam! -does his Dr Evil laugh-

I'm really excited about the Hammerhead, since I enjoyed the MAKO combat scenes in the first ME. More missions is always a good thing, even if they are like the N7 ones.
