You've got good points about the ME1 romances black, but as I said I felt that the romances in ME2 were more emotional and affecting. ME1 romances were just more properly paced.

No way, ME1 romance were much more emotional than the majority of ME2's, Thane and Tali were the only ones that really evoke any emotion

It's all opinion. I'm sure if you asked the Miranda, Thane, and Jack threads if their romance was emotional they would say yes. A large part of my reasoning that the romances in ME2 were more emotional were for the loyalty missions and the element of trust.

I find the loyalty missions more of  task after the first playthough to be honest, though i think their element in building trust should be implemented into a romance in ME3, just hopefully the romances will be better paced like in ME1

Then that is your personal preference; my main point was to provide a delineation of the differences between the ME1 and ME2 romances and upon doing so, infer some basic conclusions.  My main Shepard is actually a loner (lol).  But as I'd stated previously (and I feel it would be unnecessary to repeat), ME1 romances were more than just "[proper] pac[ing]."

I agree that they are more than just properly paced. I do think that aside from Ashley ninjaing the romance, the Kaidan and Ashley romances were fantastic. Liara came on a little too strong and a little too early for my taste.

I felt that the sense of trust and justification for the romances in ME2 were generally better, with a few exceptions.

I never really felt any emotion between Shepard and Thane... It just went so fast between them that I didn't felt any connection between the two... They just suddenly started holding hands like if it was natural between those two, at that point, I just didn't want to continue with him... Same thing with Garrus, but at least if you played the first game, you felt at least a little emotion (even if Shepard went WAY too fast to say how flexible she is).

And just like that, I'm a guy, and I don't understand why there is so much Tali fans about her and her romance. I just think she's a nuisance <_<, except for the suicide mission.

I hope you don't think she's a nuisance just because of her fans. If so, you're letting the forum affect your opinion too much. It's rather silly to dislike something simply because it's popular, however human nature that may be. But if not, you've certainly got a right to your opinion anyway. I'll happy to explain why I personally like Tali if you want to understand.

See now Than'es romance is emotional after it starts, especially the scene before the final mission, and Tali, well Tali's cool in my book, she's not my favorite character but I like her

A lot of emotion is added in Thane's romance considering he's dying, and he has failed as a family man.

Think of make-up as art; if you are arguing that women are more aesthetically pleasing, then make-up can potentially be an example of why this is so.

It's not just a matter of makeup, though. It's the body as well. I obviously haven't taken a poll or anything, but as far as I know, most people find the female form more pleasing to the eye than the male form. As in, most people would be more comfortable with seeing "two beautiful women" together than "two hairy men." It's not exactly a little known fact. I say most people, and most people have a juvenile perspective about sex and attraction. Most people. If you don't feel this way, then you don't fall into the category of "most people." It's not my personal opinion, just what I've observed.

That was kind of a response to everyone, not just the person I quoted.

It's definitly not because of the forum that I dislike Tali, even in the first, her accent (because of her suit) just didn't appeal to me at all. The conversations she had with Garrus in the elevators in the citadel was nice, but apart from that, I didn't like her character much. She is a skilled mechanic that loved the first Normandy and her race created the Geth (which are good, because it adds a lot to her race and herself). On the downside, I just never really liked how she handle situations. And her romance of her I saw on internet didn't make much emotions either (I didn't want to play all over just to play MaleShepard, I prefer the female voice).

Tali and Garrus have the most impact in my opinion in this game because they went through so much together (hell, they saved the galaxy twice... ok, only one but they are about to do it again, just for fun). Both of them seem like they were born fighters and engineer/technicians for spaceships and they don't really know how to handle love, which I think adds even more to the emotion part of their relationship.

Edit : @FataliTensei -> I know that he is dying and that he think he is a bad father and all... But I just think that they know each other for like... I don't know how fast the days goes in the game, but it doesn't seem much. They just seem to go into a romance WAY too fast that a relationship should.

The whole world isn't straight men, you know.

Not all women are models (not like appearance is the only thing that matters) and not all men are hairy gorillas.

I used quotations for a reason... I'm saying that that's how a lot of people imagine it, not my personal view. You're trying to correct me as if this is my mentality. Like I said, it's just what I've observed.

I was focusing on one specific point of the argument. Otherwise, I would have provided a much more...thorough...line of reasoning. I brought up make-up as an art because there is no one way to perceive something and some of the arguments being made were focusing on only one specific aspect of make-up.

Personally, I don't like the statement 'women are more aesthetically pleasing'; it is far too ambiguous, subjective, and open-ended for my taste. For example, how is the female form "more pleasing" than the male form? Examples? Sources? And how are you measuring aesthetic beauty? You've provided no operational definition and have cited heresay and conjecture as your main argument. "Most people" is not a statistic. Just saying...specificity might be in your favor.

@ mi Sorry I seemed to imply you were. But really, since you haven't even met .00001% of the total population of earth, I don't think you are quite justified in saying that most people find the female from more pleasing. Saying so does not seem to take into account straight and bisexual women and gay and bisexual men. Unless I'm misinterpreting you (something very easy to do in this topic) in which case I apologize again.

well the romances in general in ME2 are not very well paced, that's for sure, I hope if an S/S option is included it goes more the pace of an ME1 romance

The keyword is : we. Then in the second sentence is : my.

Even if the character could be homosexual in the game, you don't need to try to seduce other characters of the same sex, so it shouldn't matter for you if you don't explore that part of the game. It's not as if we ask for BW to delete the other love interests of the game.

Specificity isn't in my favor since because I have no personal view. I'm not saying men or women are more aesthetically pleasing. I'm just saying the majority of people (straight men and bisexual women obviously, straight women and bisexual men depends on the individual), from my point of view, find the female form at its best more pleasing to look at than males. Probably due at least in part to how much more females are sensualized/sexualized in (American) society and media.

I don't need to be "justified" in saying it, because it's not my personal belief. It's a conclusion I've come to from my own observations. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. If you'd like to "prove" that I'm wrong, by all means. In any case you're entitled to your opinion, too.
