If BioWare is going to go with lame PR answers, they really need to workshop them first.

It was sloppy wasn't it?

Truth it would have been better to say: "Tali isn't a bisexual character" or "Tali wouldn't feel the same attraction to a MShep as a FemShep because she views FemShep as a big sister" or something!

Or be honest. People can respect that.

Here is my theory right now.  Bioware probably had the voice acting done early before they new what exactly the retail product would look like.  I assume they met with their publisher and everything was gone over and decided upon as to what the retail product would look like.  Whenever they finished up, they left it unpolished and a little sloppy.

Why else would they have the teasing s/s dialog that I have been told that Tali and Jack (have not actually heard it myself) make with FemShep?  To tease players?  I doubt it.  For s/s romance with them in ME3?  Maybe, but that sounds kind of sloppy too IMO.

That's not really strong enough, b/c then someone could counter with, 'Then, why didn't you just write her bisexual?'.

They instead used a bunch of meaningless B.S. in hopes that discussion on the issue would stop.

You see, Tali's romance is "innocent and fun" with a male Shepard.   But with a female Shepard, it would not be innocent nor fun, and not PG-13.  Thanks, Hudson....

They could always use the old writer's trick: "The character went on her own path and I couldn't really force her."
Believe me it works. B)
Though in my case most of the time its true.
Still...what a fail response. *sighs*
Why can't BW just be straight with us.
And yes the pun is intended.

Edit: PG-13? Really?

So much for "dark and edgy" seems dark and edgy just means cursing and gratitous asshots from Miranda, boobshoots from every female you can see and strippers. Yay. <_<

So much for M meaning mature.

They should get the DAO team to work on ME3.

DAO had a far superior story than ME2, and a much more customizable, personal experience....  And that's coming from a sci-fi fan.  I am not usually into fantasy RPGs.

Hey at least we have an explanation for the dry humping scenes! They wanted to be PG-13! ;)

Honestly all they'd have to do is take out Jack give Miranda a outfight that doesn't show her cameltoe take out the Asari dancers and the game would be T! Uh and get rid of Kelly!. :wizard:

Although, I always save her. And I skip over that scene where the colonist gets liquefied instead.
- It doesn't sit well with me.

Hey just wanted to randomly pop in and share that I'm very disappointed in the Kotaku article, and even more so by Greg and Ray. They keep talking around the issue, using more and more words that basically say nothing each time that question is asked. Guess that's about it, really. Not a good sign they are giving out to the fans atm.

Hehehe Is it wrong that that scene may be my favorite in the game? :P

I mean honestly. Next time we have to get an assisstant BW at least make it someone who isn't willing to sleep with Shep. And we have more interaction than "You have new messages Commander." even when Shep doesn't. :pinched: (Heck I was hoping Kelly would be more of a confedant like Chawkas (yeah yeah spelling I know).

Edit: I'm talking authentic interaction. Not this go on a date with me so I can have you feed my fish crap. <_<

Or give me a striptease even though you're probably tramatized. Either. :?

Wow, I just read the Kotaku interview and....they never even answered the question. At all. Kudos to the Kotaku folks for bringing the topic up but wow, that's a disappointment in terms of Bioware's part...<_<

The day they give us a real answer will probably be the same day Squareenix realizes they can't keep blaming the western culture for not "getting" their games whenever one (rarely) fails and gets bad reviews. <_<

Oh well. I hope the devs can at least sneak in the conclusion to the M/M MShep x Kaidan romance that modders reactivated in the game. :crying:

If its not there...I'll be heartbroken.

I kind of get the analogy, and I'm not saying that you were (in any way) being antagonistic, but please leave the politics out of it.

On topic; I doubt we'll ever get a real answer until maybe after ME3, and maybe not even then:pinched:

Oh sorry. Uh...it wasn't supposed to be political but that was the best answer I could come up with.

Or maybe the "When Square admits that FF13 wasn't as good as they thought" might be better.

Nah we have our official answer remember?

"MShepard is predefined to be straight even though FemShep isn't!"

at least the one for ME1 "We ran out of time" is a decent excuse. <_<

I just wish one of the interviewers would actually ask what they mean by 'predefined' when they clearly have different choices, and different choices based on sex.

Jesus.

"PR spin" is putting it very, very, very lightly.

Muzyka's is the same "third-person whatever" inaccurate non-answer as it was before.  Except that I love how he now went on about "Hey we're still all about choices!" near the end which directly contradicts him trying to emphasize third-person narratives in the first place.

But Hudson's response is the real kicker here.  I had to read through it twice before I could even begin to comprehend his point, it was so arbitrary and meaningless.  In the end I finally figured out that what he said had nothing to do with same-sex romances and was just padding words on top of words in an effort to skirt the issue.  Yeah you know what, I'm actually quite fond of Hudson, I am...which is why he needs to know that, at the end of the day, he's not fooling anyone with this.

Both Thane and Jacob (plus Kaiden) could potentially seen as male same-sex options, as well - they're not entierly without potential subtext, if the writers would choose to interpret it that way.

I could easily see Thane and Kaiden as a bisexual LI, but I'm not sure about Jacob. He's had heterosexual romances before, and does not really show signs of emotional interest in MaleShep, and he makes passes at FemShep every chance he gets. I'd say it would be more of a fanservice if they made Jacob bisexual.

Personally, I like Hudson better because he can't execute spin properly. Wanna bet he already knows nobody's buying this?

Casey Hudson is an idiot. WOW he said absolutely nothing pertaining to the question.

"Why can't fem shep romance Tali?"

Casey Hudson-

" The ship was built a second time because something happened to the first one. This game is alot more intense, but PG-13 intense. Every character has a unique and interesting romance. We diversified the number of characters you can romance. We made sure that combat was improved too.

Tali's romance is light and fun. She's a cute character! Ciao!!

WTF? Did he even hear the interviewer?? Severe case of ADD-******

Seriously and why even tone down a game like Mass Effect be PG-13, the game is still rated M, obviously you didn't to a good job at the whole PG13 thing, because if you really wanted that then the game should be rated T-the cop out rating
