I dont care about the FAQ I'm sick of seeing this stupid topic.

You clearly aren't if you're taking the time to post here. :)

Simply don't post in topics you don't want to be a part of. The forums are as easy as that! Whoda thunk.

I don't support gay sex in ME. Ray Mazuka gave the perfect explanation. The character is a known commodity, he is all over the advertisements for the game, and shots of him engaging in homosexual behavior would largely cause the character to be seen as comical. i know that's not what the creators of this thread would like to hear, but that is the case nevertheless.

I also think there are too many people out there with all sorts of preferences and for them all to complain about not being catered to is a little ridiculous. The game is the way it is, and the game is great. You are not owed anything. No one is owed anything.

Ooh its up. And yes I am in total agreement. <3

Personally I prefer the crush and colored font options. Just so no one has to be uncomfortable or shocked. "For the Priiize." :innocent:

I've never seen F/F turn away male gamers, and I know plenty of female gamers who would be all for M/M. I don't see that negatively impacting sales.

You do realize that you already get shots of him engaged in homosexual activity all over YouTube? Ray Muzuka clearly failed to remember that "he" can already be a "she", as well as lesbian.

If the creators of the game are not gay, why would you gays want to force them to make gay scenes with the character they created?

However, what I can't understand is why Bioware's stance on Shepard being homosexual is such a double standard. Why is it NOT okay for Male Shep to engage in homosexual behavior, when it's perfectly fine for Female Shep to do so?

Because they already did with women. There is gay content all over the games already.

I think you're taking a bit of a liberty in how Muzuka was referring to Shepard. For advertising purposes, Commander Shepard is male. He is "default" vanderloo Shepard, aka, Sheploo.

...Asari are female right? Why isn't that in the FAQ I could have sworn you guys had made a blurb about it.

Sheploo =/= canon though. Just default. There's a difference.

The problem with that is that playing as Shepard is no different than playing the any of the origin characters in Dragon Age: Origins. Compare him to the human noble origin; you are given a last name you cannot change (Shepard/Cousland), a race you cannot change (Human), a profession you cannot change (Alliance-Spectre, Noble-Warden), and you can pick your class, romance interest, and whether you are mostly good or bad. Well, there is one difference. The Cousland history is set; you can alter Shepard's history. So you have more control over Shepard than you do any of the origin characters.

So the idea is that Mass Effect is "too mainstream" of a franchise to have gay content?  I don't really agree.  It's not as if adding gay content into the game will force the marketing team at gunpoint to plaster two men kissing all over the commercials and advertisements.  They could still show default vanilla John Shepard; they could even show him getting it on with Miranda or Jack if they wanted to.

Hell, they've managed to hide FemShep completely, after all, <_< since evidently she isn't marketable.

But as we both know, "default" doesn't equal "canon". I don't think that anybody is asking homosexual scenes for advertisment, here.

Let's not get into the Asari thing. Whether they are female or not, they look female and a femShep would probably only be attracted to them if she were gay or bi.

Why do you have to remind me of that? :crying:

Poor FemShep. She's apparently non-canon because BioWare couldn't be bothered to show one vid of her. Heck they could at least do a showcase of their CC (They probably would if the ME one didn't suck so hard) and show *gasp* you can be female!!!

Oh wells.

Okay I won't get into the Asari thing. No matter how much it irritates me.

Also: Kaidan is the most agreeded upon for the Bi Option right? Or is it just me.

You have to go through quite a few hoops to get male on top of male in ME1. I've seen modders do similar things in all types of games to put serious characters in a humorous light, however that is not even close to the amount of people that would come across that content had it been in the actual game. I'd wager a large portion of people would look at the homosexual dialogue option and choose it just for a pure laugh. Have friends over playing it and asking "what does THAT option do?". It wouldn't take long at all for the character of Shepard to become a running joke amongst fans and casual observers.

I'd like to add my personal confuzzlement to the fact that they go back and forth with it being "your" Shepard and that it's "their" Shepard that we have on loan, as it were. --Also that, if already given the choice between various LI's, including alien species that aren't even physically sexually compatible, how the hell do they get around to it making any sort of sense to restrict M/M content? (This is also including the above, if there's already F/F content...argument.)

They did what with women?  There is gay content all over the games already?  Maybe the creators didnt mind making fem/fem scenes?  You cant force them to do somthing they obviously are not comfortable doing.  If you want it so bad go make your own game with all the gay scenes you want.

I don't think any of the creators are aliens or sexually attracted to aliens, and yet they seemed to be able to create those scenes just fine.

It's not like there's some kind of mental block preventing straight writers from writing gay scenes without great traumatic distress, or something.  Heck, the main writer of the series has already written a homosexual character (Hendel Mitra) in Mass Effect: Ascension, and he seems to be doing fine still..

I don't really agree with female Shepard being gay either but if I had to guess, the reason for that would be that the role the player is playing in the game is a masculine one. It is far more believable that the main character be a female that is into women than it is for it to be a man into other men.
