I would say yes. Since other species In Mass Effect have both genders.

Yes they have both genders, I am just wondering something else. We humans can be attracted to members of same sex, but it doesn't seem too crazy for example that turians in their hystory never had a case of homosexualism. Maybe their genetic structure or stuff like that (weak on biology, sorry) simply makes becoming attracted to same sex impossible, regardless of race.

Seeing as how homosexuality is seen in countless mamilian and non-mamilian species across the planet  I can't begin to imagine how extra-terrestial mamals couldn't be gay.

So, yes. Aliens can, and very likely would (following the laws of probability) be capable of homosexuality.

That's still a perception issue. We see these animals as "gay." Obviously we have no idea if they do. We may have theories and common beliefs, but ultimately it's all just speculation. Do they stop and think "wow, I'm having sex with another male/female. I must be gay?" Or are they just following instinct? Again, it's all perception.

Not to mention that aliens wouldn't necessarily be "mamals," even though I don't see what that has to do with anything.

He means to emphasize that there has been observed animals (individuals) who are exclusively gay or at the very least participate in gay relations. By extension, he reasons, it's possible that aliens can be gay as homosexuality has been observed outside of humans. And yes, I still believe we can call aliens who are attracted to the same gender gay regardless if they even have a concept of gay. I am no less human if I don't believe I am, for example. I doubt you are going to begin agreeing with me though.

I think we're getting caught in a 'what is gay' discussion. Is it plausible that aliens would engage in homosexual activity? Certainly. Is it possible that such activity has no effect on their culture or identity? Certainly. So while we might observe homosexual behaviors (mating between beings of the same gender) the aliens themselves might have no concept that such pairings are in any way remarkable. They may not distinguish between genders very much at all.

But if you and every other person labled yourselves as something other than human then yes. You'd be whatever the group collectively choose to label themselves.

If some UFO species came down and called us some other name we wouldn't stop being humans to ourselves would we?

Depends what the definition of the name is, Ryzaki. That's what is important, not the cultural significance of the name, rather the raw definition. If it was something that meant "bipedal organism," for example, they would be right. We are bipedal organisms. In the same vein, someone who is attracted to the same sex exclusively, due to the definition, is homosexual.

Was it ever about making you or I agree with the other?

Only point I was trying to make.

No, I saying that I doubt you will agree with me in that you could call aliens who are exclusively attracted to the same sex gay. If that's false, I apologize.

Oh, no. I very well could, because that's what I identify with as a human, but at the same time I could comprehend the possibility that another sentient species simply didn't possess the term or notion of homosexuality in their vernacular. As in, they could love who they love, and not acknowledge gender. As in, maybe it never crosses their mind, and they approach coupling in a more spiritual way. Maybe that the only way they would acknowledge their "homosexuality" is when a human explains the concept to them, as an example. Does that make them wrong for not coming to that conclusion in the first place? Or us, for putting a label on it? All perception.

If by No One, you mean almost seven hundred forum posters. And that's just a tiny sample of the huge amount of people who'd like this implemented.
Whenever I tell anyone about it vocally in my whining-phases that Bioware cut out the homosexual content for some reason, people always go "Huh? That's weird." and when I tell them of how 'sloppy' the cut was, their mild confusion often turns into "What were they thinking?"

I'd say that less than one tenth of the people who were disappointed with the lack of homosexual content post on these forums. So take almost seven hundred times ten for a more accurate assumption.

Feeding trolls only makes them stronger. Then they become supertrolls and demolish cities. IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT?

Well, no, but I figured I would mention it to create further discussion! I mean, I could've ignored it, but then people wouldn't find a reason to share their experiences of whenever they've told anyone about this issue.

So, tell me how friends react when you've told 'em the Lack-of-homosexual-content-trivia?

I hate to downgrade the discusion from whether or not animals and aliens can be gay, but..........
Kinda glad you came along. My friends happen to think BioWare flaked out.

Were they disappointed or did they just shrug?
No one actually opposed homosexuality being in the game, did they?
