There is plenty of evidence shown on YouTube to state clearly that Bioware did a lot of work on same-sex possibilities. Ashley and Kaiden both have some work done in this aspect. Ashley moreso than Kaiden - but if I'm not mistaken there are some VERY specific comments Shepard makes that were recorded specifically for a gay male romance.

This has been gone over a million times.

The Shepard you see on the cover is "Canon Shepard" - I'm not sure why Bioware decided to make a RPG character "Canon" anything - but they did. Both games are extremely linear - you are not going to get a Fallout 3 from Bioware.

They've managed to get all the arrogance of Blizzard - with none of the insane amounts of success. ((And if you don't think Blizzard's arrogant - you've never read many of their responses that entail them telling their consumer base to hush up - we know what we're doing)).

I didn't buy Awakenings for Dragon Age - I won't be picking up ME 3 *shrugs* No big deal - so many games out there anyway. It isn't to hurt Bioware - they likely won't notice. It's so I can feel better about not wasting my money on something I don't believe in.

This whole gay issue - and their pitiful responses about it - was only one factor.

I'm not sure I would call Bioware arrogant just yet. Try asking Capcom for a decent pc port of ANY of their games if you want to see arrogance.

I understand and accept Shepard is canon - still no reason he/she can't be gay.

I don't accept that shepard is canon, because there isn't supposed to be a canon in mass effect.

There is a default Shepard, not a canon Shepard.

Once the movie comes out, there will be a canon Shepard.

It doesn't matter if there's a movie, there is no canon shep in the Mass Effect GAME which is what we are talking about here. There isn't a canon in Mass Effect because they give you choices.

By your logic we shouldn't even be able to choose anything in the game. Since everything else is irrelevant since there's a "canon" shepard. <_<

Yes I agree, they have every right to do what they want with their game. Whether they want to or not is their choice.

True. But they should consider that offending every single liberal or gay / lesbian customer with their ignorance towards homosexual romances is a good idea.

Sadly, plenty of people do exactly that.

You do as if ou had to engage in terrible struggles; in fact, posting "I support Same Sex romances" would be less effort than discussing here why you are against it.

Pathethic excuse.

I enjoy playing DA even though I do not believe in the sexual situations. It is a game not a porn site. I also believe there is no room in the game for pervisions like homosexual situations. If this does apper in the game I will take my money elsewhere.

Good for you. You should spend it on education anyways, it would seem, considering you can´t even write "perversions" correctly.

If you want to spread homophobe bullsh!t at least do so in correct language, please.

Tirigon, you could've covered that in one post. But your hostility isn't really helping.

I don't need to make "exuses". I'm merely more concerned with the devs spending their time on something more productive that affects something I care about, other than this.

Hence, I'm saying no to this as my 2 cents. Acknowledged?

Ah the game, I'm fine with. If we were talking about universe though, it's a different story.

Agreed. We've all had our bad days, but no need for hostility just because someone else share a different opinion.

I had to catch up with 3 pages so I responded whenever I found something worth doing so.

I´m not hostile either. I just don´t like idiots, and sadly I know many.

Then the "Actually I would challenge it if it affected me" you posted is a lie.

I find myself at a loss however, why do you post so much if you do not care? Seems like excuses to me, sorry....

If you know many "idiots", then don't idiots make a large percentage of players and need their input too? Hmmm.

Of course many players are idiots. That´s why it is hard to find good games these days.

However, I do not see why they should be a reason not to include homosexual romances.

Unfortunately,
in the world of monocle-ness, calling someone an idiot, although
indirectly, is considered offensive. You could put your points across
without seeming pompous in much nicer ways.
All about being the bigger man/woman/asari/thing.

According to my view of the universe and all that's in it I value the character interaction in Bioware's games the most. In my opinion, the main story (at least in ME-2) is very weak in comparison to the amount of character development.  And I do think that with more romance options, opening up two possible sexualities for the different characters, would add to the replayability, like, lots.

(My view of the universe is very tiny. My balcony isn't very high.)

I agree character interaction is extremely important to this game. However, I'm more concerned with saving the galaxy than having a quickie.

And, funnily, so am I.

However, you can have both.

And most imporantly: What bothers me is the inequality here. If they would make Mass Effect a shooter with a bit story and no romances at all I wouldn´t care much - as it is, after a few playthroughs I stopped caring for the story anyways and played only for the action.

But I find it terribly unjust to have heterosexual romances, even as a big part of the game, without having homosexual ones.

And if I was LSD, I'll find it unjust I can't romance Ashley, Tali, and Liara at the same time. There's always going to be something left out, you can't make everyone happy.

Okay, granted.

Justify maximizing the number of people left out and unhappy by leaving out material added in development the first time, then later removed, without invoking fictional release deadlines or the Sky Wizard.

Small number.

"Mass Effect 2 made its debut as number one on the UK all-formats charts.[101] On the first day of its release, the game sold half a million copies. BioWare revealed that by the end of the first week, two million copies had been shipped worldwide. NPD Group reported that, for the Xbox 360, 572,100 copies of the game had been sold in the United States alone by the end of January.[102] As of March 31st, the sales had reached 1.6 million copies[103]."

It's not a small number considering how popular this thread is, and how many threads like it have been made. Why do you care so much?

Your PC can save the galaxy and your PC can fall in love. Why can't our PCs fall in love too? It was already in there. The work was already done. So pretty much you keep finding new excuses. Interesting.

Using the post count of this thread to expand the statistical number of homosexuals who are actually going to use said feature being suggested? It's just the same people arguing for and against it, not a petition of all for it. The reason it's so long is because it's so controversial. Now that's interesting.

Would you like to try again, and maybe this time inject a little...what's the phrase I'm looking for...."relevant information or opinion" into your post?

As near as I can tell, your argument in favor of leaving out same-sex romance options is "it sold well anyway", which isn't even grade school level logic.

And your "argument" on the other hand seems to be based on dismissal and making comparison to minors. Which is more weak?

So by your weak argument, Eddo, you think Liara should be a male-only romance. Right? I mean, lesbians are gay too. And there are surely fewer lesbians that play these games than gay men, since there are fewer female players than males.
