For those saying that a change to the existing romances will never happen I want to say Bioware themself have set a precedent for altering a npc´s sexual orientation when they changed Juhani in Kotor from beeing available for both Revans to beeing exclusively for female ones.

I was going to say "Yeah, but that's because she was supposed to be a female-only LI to begin with" and contrast it with how Tali, Kaidan, etc. were supposed to be available to both sexes but ended up restricted to just one.  But then I realized it really is a precedent because either way, it'd be reverting to what the original intent was.

I agree, and we might actually have to think a little to romance them. Just hitting the paragon option to be sure to score them is a bit dull..

Except the paragon option with Garrus is to tell him you're not sure crossing the species divide is such a great plan. Funny... I don't remember my Shep having those concerns with Liara...

well, "ingesting" with Liara wasn't potentially fatal...

I honestly think they'd have to tread carefully in adding any new romance options in ME3, s/s or otherwise.  If ME3 is the dramatic finale, then we want to see how the relationships we've pursued tie into the story in the end.  That's not to say that having new LIs in ME3 would take anything away from that.  But having any focus placed on new ones would just seem trite, since the other options would have had a game or two to build up to the climactic (heh) end.  There are some ways that they could add a new set of relationships to ME3, but for it to really work well within the context of the narrative, they'd have to make some choices with the flow of the story in the last game that I kind of don't see them making.

Ideally, this is added to ME2 via DLC or expansion - I feel that's the best way of handling it.

Although now BioWare has flip flopped and considers each game a stand alone title.  So I'll wager that new romances will be the bulk of the romance option in ME3 (you know to reward the clowns who didn't bother to buy ME1 & 2) and the previous romances will get a wrap up scene or something.

They cant restrict ME3 to those that played ME1+2 , a new player does not have a conection to any npc in ME3.
Even some players who played ME1 and ME2 will end up without a savegame because their console or pc broke so they need to make the old LI romancable even if you did not persue their romance in ME1 or 2. I mentioned before that this would be the ideal time for making Kaidan a LI for both the male and the female Shepard (f/f and the return of Liara is next to garantied).
The issue that Kaidan is not part of standard male Shepards universe could be worked around if completing ME3 the first time enables the player to change the key desicions (Virmire-Wrex,Virmire-Kaidan,Rachini,.. ) when he creates a new Shepard from scratch which would also benefit anyone who lost their savegame.
As far as adding a new character to ME2 goes, do you believe Zaeed´s dialog is the way it is because Bioware wanted it this way or because they could not do it another way ?

Don't forget that even people with savegames from ME1 and ME2 won't be able to bring a dead Shepard into ME3, so there's another reason why there would have to be some entry-level romance options.

Good point.  I just hope they won't pre-select Kaidan or Ashley based on your gender again.    That was irritating.

Oh they most certanly will, because I am 95% sure that those who stayed single in ME1+2 like default Shep and those who end their romances at the start of ME3 will get a second shot at love with the LIs that reappear.
That is why I suggested an editor for the major choiches while creating a new character  that gets unlocked for compleating the game once instead of the XP-boost you get in ME2.

As far as I know, no one.  They seem to keep calling it a trilogy and ME2 the "middle-chapter" in everything I've been seeing.  I think the confusion comes from them saying they want each game to stand-alone in the sense of being mostly comprehensible and complete if you haven't played the previous one, but there's nothing odd about that.  You hear the same rhetoric about movie trilogies all the time...and also it's basically never true: yeah, you really do need to watch 'em all because you will not understand everything.  I wouldn't waste time worrying about it.

Er, they just say that you can have fun playing each of the games even if you haven't played them all. That's hardly an issue, as long as the overarcing plot remains intact.

Oh... I don't know... Say you bring your chosen LI up to your quarters for some 'personal time' and before they can catch a breath you've grabbed them roughly by the shoulders and thrown them down on the bed. They look up at you - eyes glazed with lust and just a hint of fear. Moving across them you CENSORED their CENSORED before you CENSORED really hard and by this time CENSORED it takes CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED with a chicken.

Yes, I can definitely see that working.

... with a... chicken?  :?

I can see the concept working (minus fowl), sure. Personally I think it would be cooler to have the option to take Kaidan (or LI of your choice) to a nice dinner at a hub-world restaurant. Of course, BioWare would probably give us the romantic dinner but have it interrupted halfway through by some hit squad out to ruin Shepard's day. (Substitute any other romantic activity or discussion that moves the romances towards a deeper sense of being in a relationship, coming to be intimately familiar with one another's quirks, having moments where they get to act like a couple.)

Suggestion 1 in our FAQ wrote...
*Only* imported save games that have NO Love Interests and
New Game players would be able to use the feature. That way it doesn't
change, or even give the option to change, an existing romance
storyline.

I've been thinking about our suggestions, and I think most of 'em are pretty good! I'm liking the idea of "only available to celibate Shepards" less though. No reason Shep can't be bi. The clearly marked romance lead-ins initiated by the player seems a better all-around safeguard for those who don't want accidental homoeroticism. It doesn't protect against the trauma (!) of seeing a same-sex option in the menu, but one nonrecurring conversational lead-in shouldn't be too painful, right?

Yeah, I'm not down with M/M for celibate Shepards only idea either.   Shepard should be allowed to be bi-sexual as well.   As long as the romance dialogs are clearly marked, a same-sex romance option wouldn't be an issue for anybody.

I recently saw the Ashley and Female Shepard romance scene. I wasn't expecting to feel this way since she's not really my type but, hey, it was kinda hot.

Now I feel sorta gipped.

No, most of us would like the former bisexual squadmates to be

any ideas for people.

Yes, I will correct you! Posted Image

Tali, Thane, Jack and Kaidan were NOT bisexual..  I don't know where you get this nonsense from..

Jack flat out tells you that she isn't interested in a lesbian relationship with FemShep if you pursue her enough, while there is no same sex specific dialogue in the game for the other characters.

As for the recorded dialogue that wasn't implemented in the game, I don't know how many times you and the others like you have been told, but Hale and Meer do each other's dialogues, as well as their own..

Why Bioware does this, no one can say for sure..  Perhaps it's because they want to make both male and female Shepards' voice overs as similar as possible, and having Hale and Meer do each other's lines would act as a good reference..

It does not mean however that Bioware intended these characters to be bisexual and then cut the content at the last minute.

How stupid do you think Bioware is?  They did the same thing in ME1 with Kaidan and Ashley's voice overs, why would they do it again if they really meant to make these characters bisexual?

*shakes head*
