How stupid do you think Bioware is?  They did the same thing in ME1 with Kaidan and Ashley's voice overs, why would they do it again if they really meant to make these characters bisexual?

Stupid enough to record lines they never had any intention of using, apparently.

I missed the part where anyone in this thread is claiming otherwise. No one is demanding anything from Bioware; we're simply suggesting things we'd like to see either incorporated into this game via DLC and/or included in ME3.

No, most of us would like the former bisexual squadmates to be
reimplemented, this includes, Tali, Thane, Jack and Kaidan. (someone
correct me on that if I'm wrong) We also wouldn't mind a BRAND NEW
character. Please share your thoughts in the poll or topic if you have
any ideas for people.

Yes, I will correct you! Posted Image

Tali, Thane, Jack and Kaidan were NOT bisexual..  I don't know where you get this nonsense from..

Jack flat out tells you that she isn't interested in a lesbian relationship with FemShep if you pursue her enough, while there is no same sex specific dialogue in the game for the other characters.

As for the recorded dialogue that wasn't implemented in the game, I don't know how many times you and the others like you have been told, but Hale and Meer do each other's dialogues, as well as their own..

Why Bioware does this, no one can say for sure..  Perhaps it's because they want to make both male and female Shepards' voice overs as similar as possible, and having Hale and Meer do each other's lines would act as a good reference..

It does not mean however that Bioware intended these characters to be bisexual and then cut the content at the last minute.

It does because a BioWare developer said so: http://meforums.biow...05519&forum=144

It was indeed unfortunate that they disabled the Ashley-FemShep romance, as it was 100% completed, not just all the voicework but the love scene as well, everything about the romance was 100% complete and in the game, I know that because I played it recently, via a mod :) . I highly reccomend it to anyone with the PC version of ME1, get the mod, play the Ashley-FemShep romance in its entirety, its a lot of fun. Another nice thing about it, is that on Eden Prime you get to rescue Ashley instead of Kaiden (and the subsequent semi-romantic options when talking to the doctor with Ashley present), and also on the Citadel during the conversation with Ashley and Kaiden you get the flirting with Ashley instead, again everything is totally 100% voiced and in the game. Plus, you get to dance with Ashley at the dancing area. So its not just the romance dialogues that you get (and the love scene), it really adds a lot more fun to the game in a number of different ways. They definitely shouldn't have changed their minds about letting everybody play it, its great.

If what you say is true about Jennifer Hale and Mark Meer both recording each other's lines, then I still don't understand how they can't implement s/s romance with certain characters? Since it has already been done with both the actors. The obvious flirting between Tali and Femshep can actually make more sense once they add more of the lines that according to you, Jennifer Hale did record. This topic was created to politely ask for either s/s options with existing characters or brand new characters. It may be Bioware's game but I recall Tali and Garrus fans asking for a romance for both of those characters and Bioware gave them that. We're trying to do the same thing here, only we want s/s romance options.

Sorry but the whole doing each other romance dialogue is retarded unless BioWare was considering using them at some point. If you were doing a paper would you start research on something that you had no intention of using at any point in time? I highly doubt you would. Now you might have done some research and found that it didn't fit into the overall theme of the paper, however at one point you were planning on using it.

Mordigan's theory about Hale and Meer recording the same line and them placing them on the disk is completely bogus.  We have a confirmation from a BW developer that both M/M and F/F romances were planned for ME.
Only same-sex lines for Thane are present on the ME2 disk, not for any other male LI.  So obviously, Thane was supposed to be bisexual.

I wonder why they cut it out the second time. I wish they'd give us an actual answer and not the "predefined character BS".

Also, don't you find it odd that Bioware would supposedly include same sex dialogue in both games, yet disable them?

Why would they do that?

Hence why enabling existing love interests as bisexual options makes sense: most of the work is already done and it dodges the "devote too many resources to a niche interest" problems. On the flip side, a well designed new character would also provide content for "everyone to enjoy."

Thank you for posting the link, Arik. You're always really helpful that way.

Yet he says with some certainty that he knows it was planned.

You'll have to forgive us if we take his word over yours on the matter.

How would he know though unless he worked on ME1?

I didn't work on ME1 but I would venture to say that most of the
developers feel that Liara/Femshep is an F/F relationship. I don't know
if the "she's an asari" thing was ever intended to take away from the
F/F aspect (since I wasn't around when the idea was put together) but
nevertheless, she was intended as the gay female love interest.

As
far as M/M love interests... I can say that it was planned, but as far
as I know it was cut due to time constraints. Quite frankly the demand
is small. I'm not defending it, but the choice is between a level that
everyone will enjoy and a romance that only a minority will enjoy. We
did it in Jade so we're not afraid of it; there just isn't enough time.

Sorry to all the gay ME fans Posted Image

...why do I have the feeling this is another BS copout answer? Ugh. Good grief. <_<

Though the dialogue files are in the game. FemShepxAshley completely DudeShepxKaidan nearly completely. So there's just a complete waste of resources. Then they turn around and start again in ME2 and once again waste the resources. <_<

Also: The devs are aware not just gay people play the romances right? Theres straight dudes that I know that played the Zevran romance (some for completionist reasons others for s*** and giggles). The minority is probably there but its not restricted simply to gay people.

What I find really odd is you claiming to know better than a BioWare staff member, whether he personally worked on the first game or not.

Only FemShep/Ashley dialog and animations were fully completed.  The MShep/Kaidan romance is incomplete.  I guess the FemShep/Ashley romance was left out for the sake of "fairness".....

This reasoning might work for one game, but for two?

Come on...

And the animation can be hacked...

It's the closest thing to an honest answer we've seen. All we've had otherwise is silence, or a purposely vague PR response.

Time restaints also goes some way to explaining why Fshep/Ash romance was finished and on disk while Mshep/Kaiden wasn't fully there. 2 lesbian and 0 gay encounters might get them more bad publicity than just taking them both out for fairness.

I was surprised there were no m/m romances in ME2. Idk if anyone remembers the Polish video reveal, supposedly had m/m romance lines for Shepard in that version of the game.

Possibly misinformation.

So, can you only get to the ME1 m/m or f/f scenes by modding, or are these youtube vids developed by clever gamers who have edited/hacked into the files, or something?

But FemShepxLiara and FemShepxKelly does the same thing. XD
It still looks bad. Heck it looks worse because its not restricted to one single game.
*shrugs* Really though. One would think it would have been smarter to take FemShep x Liara out as well at least then that predefined character BS would have made a smidgen more sense (wouldn't have made it any more true but still...)

Could well have been time restraints as well.

It's quite likely that gay romances were given lower priority to other aspects in the game and never got finished before they hit the deadline.
