Some people seem to not understand that homophobia, and the negative reaction they experience when they see homosexual activity, is a learned cultural trait and not one inherent to the human condition. The reason the Greeks and Romans were "bi," as someone put it, is that they didn't grow up with the preconceived, Judeo-Christian notion that homosexuality is somehow distastful and abnormal. To them, having sexual relationships with members of the same sex was not only normal, but often desirable (the Spartan relationships between soldiers and the patron system in Athens and Rome as two examples). It was mainstream in their culture, and as a result few if any people had negative reactions when exposed to it.
The "All Greeks and Romans were bi" thing is blown way out proportion..
The reality is, sexuality was much more complex in the Ancient World. For example, there was quite a bit of intolerance towards homosexual acts in the early stages of the Empire, when pederasty was considered to be a "degenerate Greek practice," and sex between freeborn men was punishable by death (Lex Scantinia).
A man that engaged in passive homosexuality was viewed as abdicating his dominant masculine role in favor of the subservient feminine role, and was thus shamed, ridiculed and even despised.
This negative view of passive homosexuality was so ingrained in Roman culture that it was practically dogma.
As for the Greeks, again the premise that "all Greeks were bi" is incorrect. It seems that passive homosexuality was viewed with the same distaste as the Romans..
Pederasty was tolerated, but with quite a few stipulations. It also seems as though homosexuality was practiced mostly amongst the Greek upper classes, and not so much in the Society as a whole.

Edit: Rape and pedophilia being common place isn't exactly a thing to look at as progressive guys.
Even if I agree on the whole "homophobia is more of a conditioning than a natural state of mind."
...There aren't any vids of the FemShep x Ashley romance from beginning to end? *sighs* Now how am I gonna find pics? I could use Liara...but...I wanted Ashley.

at character creation, introduce a new 'sexuality' option. straight, bi, gay are your options. character interactions change accordingly. for bi, make it so that when you begin a conversation with a potential LI, you can press one button for a non-romantic dialogue and another for a romantically inclined one.
everybody wins.
I still really dislike the idea of being able to choose orientation at the beginning or 'turn off' content.
Sure, you could argue that it is similar to choosing your sex, but still.
It should not have to be something you choose. It was not in Dragon Age, or any other Bioware games (that had same sex romance), at least.
A question, for everyone out there, who is hoping for a new character instead of the old romances being restored;
Would you prefer a new bisexual character (that is male, perhaps), or a gay male, as well as a lesbian character?
It saddens me that it is more likely that bisexual characters will get added (they seem to be the only same sex options these days.), but it is something, at least.

I'd personally like an actually gay character, but Bi will work and it's our most likely outcome, I'll take what I can get

Ideally, gay and male (although I would never get to romance him).
Just because they have not really done that before.
But...bisexual I think would be better. More romances for everyone.
Although as I have stated before, at first it would seem unlikely that they would do an entirely gay character, because that would lock out romances.
Except, they already do that for every single other romance, except Liara.
So, I would support a new bisexual male.
Or better yet, a gay male and a lesbian.
Or at least a bi Tali...

Yeah that was kind of the issue. It would be better if I could find some vaughly shippy high res photos but sadly Youtube isn't the best for picture quality. XD
Here's another lower quality photo:

I actually think that tali goes both ways because of the way she talks to Fshep in the game, Garrus to Mshep not so much, Garrus needs to lightenup a bit lol MShep and Garrus, MShep and Tali all the way, and FShep and Tali lolsliverofamoon wrote...
