Considering that it triggers the romance path for MShep, and you can clearly answer responsively, it's rather annoying that it's still there, but you can't advance further. Damn teasing developers!

You people are just seeing what you want to see....as usual.

The dialogue about linking suits that Tali has with FemShep is the exact same dialogue that she has with MaleShep....except if I'm not mistaken, the part about linking suits with FemShep isn't in the main game and only in the extras.

This shows that the theory about Hale and Meer doing each others recordings is probably correct..

If Tali had dialogue specifically concerning FemShep, then perhaps you'd have a point, but as it stands, it's just wishful thinking....just like Ashley and FemShep in ME1..

FemShep had romance dialogue concerning Ashley, but Ashley's romance dialogue was specific to MaleShep only..

Except that's its not. Tali also tells femShep that she is the only person that she would link up suits with.

Actually, that's not true. The Tali / Femshep dialogue is definitely in the 100% unmodded, vanilla game. I was actually really surprised when it didn't go anywhere.

If true, it definitely sounds like an oversight on Bioware's part, because the dialogue for MaleShep is exactly the same..

I'm not sure this is exactly the point, Mordigan.  And forgive me if this has been said, and especially forgive me if this is a topic we should consider closed, but the point in my eyes is that if they recorded all that dialogue regarding FemShep/Ash and MaleShep/Kaidan and included it on the disc, they either had plans to use it, or wasted space on the disc for no good reason.  (I'm not saying Kimberly Brooks or Raphael Sbarge recorded any corresponding dialogue, though I am saying that all they'd have to do in my eyes would be to re-record a mere handful of lines to make the option feasible... well, that and spend some time on animating the love scene, but judging from the one time my femShep went for Kaidan... that wasn't as high a priority as we'd like anyway.)

Whereas the way we see the comments regarding Tali and linking suits ... I'm not there in the game, but if I'm to believe TvTropes' quote -- appropriately next to Les Yay, which is 'this gives me that kind of impression without being overt' kind of stuff -- Liz Szroka did in fact say, "Well, if you were quarian, and a male..." in a somewhat flustered way.  Which if true, I'd take to mean "I'm straight, but flattered" -- but that's just my opinion.

Yep, it definitely happened. On my first Femshep runthrough, I was just trying to befriend her, and after her loyalty mission the dialogue triggered. Femshep replied (paragon style) with something like "It's alright, Tali, I feel the same way" or "I trust you too" or something. It really felt romantic to me so I wasn't surprised to learn it was the romantic trigger for Manshep.

My point is, that the romance dialogue concerning Tali for both MaleShep and FemShep is exactly the same, and isn't gender specific.

If Tali had specific FemShep only lines, then yeah I'd have to agree that it meant Bioware planned her as a F/F romance option.....but she doesn't..

Compare Tali to Jack..  With FemShep, you can pursue Jack all the way up to the point where she tells you she doesn't want to be a member of the "girl's club."

Thats gender specific dialogue..

Liz Szroka did in fact say, "Well, if you were quarian, and a male..." in a somewhat flustered way.  Which if true, I'd take to mean "I'm straight, but flattered" -- but that's just my opinion.

She tells MaleShep the same thing..

She says nothing about you being a male or not.

She says: "If you were a quarian and we weren't already on a suicide mission." The same she says to MShep.

A lot of the romance dialog for Liara is the same for MShep and femShep. There is dialog for her and femShep on the game disk; they just stopped at a certain point.

Why do people always bring that "girls club" line as proof that Jack isn't into girls. I've beaten the game twice with a femShep, she isn't responding to romance dialog with that line, just friend dialog.

Okay, I have been misled as to the specifics (and I thank you for enlightening me, seriously).  On a related note, I really do have to find more time to finish the game the first time if I'm going to be commenting on these threads .

I don't doubt that one could read what they want into the comment, nonetheless.  And said reading isn't discouraged by the fact that (as someone said) it appears to be the romance trigger to MaleShep and it's worded, apparently, the same.

No, if I remember correctly, the comment was in reference to what "linking suits" means in regards to opposite sex Quarians.

In other words, if a Quarian male and female decide to link suits, then it means they're going to bump uglies..

I still really dislike the idea of being able to choose orientation at the beginning or 'turn off' content.
Sure, you could argue that it is similar to choosing your sex, but still.

It should not have to be something you choose. It was not in Dragon Age, or any other Bioware games (that had same sex romance), at least.

A question, for everyone out there, who is hoping for a new character instead of the old romances being restored;
Would you prefer a new bisexual character (that is male, perhaps), or a gay male, as well as a lesbian character?

It saddens me that it is more likely that bisexual characters will get added (they seem to be the only same sex options these days.), but it is something, at least.

I'm with you on the "choose your orientation" menu, it's not necessary. Expressing it should be just fine. (Besides which, if the ME marketing team fear alienating homophobic players, I giggle as I imagine the outcry when every time one of them starts a new game they get asked: "Are you heterosexual? Yes/No")

As for the rest, there's nothing wrong with someone being bi. Either way is just fine. I'll be impressed if the ME team demonstrate the will to write and implement a character who's as epic as all the others, and calmly gay.

I don't remember her ever mentioning a male quarian especially.

The only two purposes mentioned for linking suits were sex and nursing... and Tali wasn't talking about nursing to FShep.

Are you sure? I mean, it's been a while since I played that part, but I don't think her line mentions gender in any way. I remember being something like "I've never wanted to link (thought about linking) suits with anyone. Well, any quarian, anyway....*shuffles embarassedly*"

Could be wrong, but I really don't remember anything gender specific.

In that first bit of dialog, Tali tells a MShep that linking suits can also imply a sense of intimacy, but doesn't say anything about it being between males and females only. The only gender specific dialog in that whole exchange is her saying "his" and "him," but that's it.

You are kind of shooting your argument in the foot there.
The dialogue to initate romance with Tali is the same for males and females.

It is *there* for females, so would that not imply that she was supposed to be an option?
