why would it be a stretch for them to like femshep?

Would you be attracted to a steel-plated, bipedal locust?

Suspension of disbelief, it does require a little assistance from time to time.

Actually, Mordin doesn't talk about fluid transfer about Tali IIRC. He talks about that with Garrus, but not Tali. about tali, he tells Shepard and Tali to self sterilize, that's about it.

I know Quarians and Turians are both Dextro-DNA which is a different Chirality than Human. It stands to reason if fluid transfer from a Turian would cause illness, so would a Quarian.

Anyway, I think I've dragged this thread off-topic enough, wot?

BioWare shouldn't have backed away from the "partial nudity"

it made the game seem more real and is better with it, I'm not saying show some vagina but the game IS rated "M for mature" parents complaining about it need to shut-up and do their job (parenting)

...just sayin :)

re:Matshelge

I saw this topic and kind of rolled my eyes as I clicked it. I smirked appreciatively at the "just go to a porn site" comment. But your posts actually got me seriously thinking about the necessity of nudity in my beloved Mass Effect.
Not gonna lie: I LOVED the way The Romance played out in ME1. It built up with meaning and gravity, with the scene itself (IMO) subtle and restrained, but at the same time genuine and passionate. Part of the reason for that was because we viewers understood that the characters were undressed.
Sadly, ME2 romances - from start to finish - don't seem to carry the same weight as do the ME1 versions. I'm on my 11th play-thru of ME2... simply to ensure I have every cool type of savegame for ME3. So I've seen every squad romance outcome.
Both Miranda and Jacob have "love-scene models." Being something of an 'advanced novice' 3D artist, I can assure you that making these versions of the Cerberus agents wasn't the end of the world; merely a torso/arm replacement. And chances are that the BioWare art staff already has at least some version of nude aliens sitting on a hard drive, if only as reference material for design and animation teams.
I don't pretend to know more than a bit about game production pipelines and production cycles... I'm just saying that - from the modeling standpoint, having two (or even three) models per character shouldn't be the end of the world... if you've PLANNED for them.
And beyond the nudity issue, that seems to be the problem with ME2 and romance; though some of the romance culminate quite sweetly (Jack, Garrus), generally I don't care for them because I don't care ABOUT them. At least not nearly as much as I did in ME1. The proof: My FemShep main didn't bother at all with her crew; and IMO her "romance culmination" scene was by far the most touching and REAL! The only LI that seems as well plannned for this installment as the previous, is NO LI.

Should there be nudity in ME3? Sure, if it serves the story and the characters like it seemed to in ME1, why not? Maybe we get boxer briefs and bras. Or maybe just Garrus all dressed up because he doesn't know what he's doing. But before the nudity issue is even considered, my hope is that our BW devs take a serious look at how the best relationships in the ME series work (romantic and platonic) and strive to make that the musculature of any future endeavor into intimacy between Shep and the team. If that's done right, only the kids who can't beat the parental lock on mom's PC will be complaining about lack of sideboob in ME3.

Spare me. The only ones who need to get out more are those who would dictate the content of Mass Effect because 'it's just a game.'

Edit: I am so glad the devs at Bioware don't think of Mass Effect as just a game.

Is a game..........if they show nudity great. If they dont, move on. Not because is a game should it be a portal to your greatest fantasies.

Take it for what it is.

If somebody wants to see some action, call your bf/gf and go on a date.

Now, yes I dont agree with ME2, backing away from what it did. If the game is going for a certain direction, dont back away coz of criticism.

But true I need to go out more...maybe the mountains would be a nice setting...or the beach....twice ina  week, my tan ins't good enough as it is already. Maybe you cared to join? lil fresh air would do alot of people nearby a ton of good. Wouldn't you agree? lol

Pioneering ahead and then going back a step is in general a bad choice. As it stands, the romances of BG2 (Aerie´s sex dialogue... *whew*) and ME1 evulutionary handling of love scenes are unbeaten. People today seem to become more prudish again, anyway. I just watched Highlander again and was surprised at its explicity of the love/sex scene. Something not seen often anymore in movies nowadays. Opposed to that general display of nudity in advertisements has increased tenfold. Strange.

Ok yes, with that I do agree., maybe I stated my previous reply on a bad way.

ME2 did seem to cower away from what it made ME1 unique in some ways.

sigh hopefully they make ME into 4 games :P^_^

Did this argument happen with movies?

They should show boobs in a movie if done tastefully
Screw tastefully, just show the boobs!
Movies should never have nude content in them!
If you want nudity go out and get a life.

Oh how times change.

Meh... Since Mass Effect is probably the foremost game right now pushing the more, "Interactive Entertainment," line and sticking it to the Roger Ebert line that "Video games are a child's playthings."

That said, it's disheartening to the Games-As-Art ground when Bioware backed down from artistry due to external political pressure.

I'm not hating! I'm just saying, I am disappoint.

The ironic thing is that that I thought the nude romance scenes from ME1 were more meaningful, portrayed a more holistic view of sexuality, and were more restrained. This is opposed to me and Miranda dry humping like teenagers on the floor in ME2. How is that a better portrayal of sex?

And the scene with Jack where it's purely gratuitous with neither having any respect for the other, I'm not actually against that, but it seems contradictory to pull tasteful but leave in gratuitous.

On one hand if they cut it out completely I wouldn't lose any sleep over it , but on the other hand it does complete the whole experience. If you comepare ME1 to ME2 offerings , ME2 's stuff comes off as being censored.

Personally I believe if certain premium channels can show stuff far worse than what's in ME1 , theirs away to showcase something like that in video games without making headline news.

to sum up ME1 romance was a lot more realistic [and trough this better made] than ME2 -well LOTSB got it improved but i hope to see something as good as ME1 in ME3

If they don't scrap it , I have feeling it will be something more closer ME1 than ME2 in ME3.Personally I think they added the romance parts at the last minute which could be why it's so lacking when compared to ME1.
