If there were no limits on what skills you could learn, what would you want to be able to do?

This can range from the realistic, ie wanting to learn how to sail, to the unrealistic, ie wanting to learn how to breathe underwater without aid.

One thing I would very much like to learn how to do is sword-fight, properly that is, not cinematically.

So what sorts of skills do you guys want?

Fighting from a horseback. I actually know how to use a "low tech" weapon, but not riding.

I'll pick the uncanny skill of being able to correctly choose lottery numbers.

I'd like to learn some practical skills like electrician, mechanic etc., can't have too much knowledge in those areas. But for the two dumbest skill sets I'd love to know: Gunsmithing and how to pick locks. All sorts of movie and game characters know how to do this. Forget Jill Valentine, I want to be the master of unlocking Posted Image

Lockpicking's another one I've been interested in, I didn't think it would come across well though if I went out and bought a bunch of lockpicking tools :P

Being able to sing would be nice. Or maybe some B-Ball Skillz.

Pretty much anything but drawing. I'd happily trade this skill for something that takes up less of my time. Or maybe anything else with an associated job career that's not diluted with hopeful weeaboos who think they know art looking to get into college.

Fly. Or better, just be able to "think myself" to where I want to go. Materialize where I think myself to. Travel by thought. Short of that, I'd love to be able to scuba dive (but a past broken eardrum precludes it). Or be a world-class figure skater. I didn't decide I would like to do that until nearly age 30, at which time, it's far too late to learn how to skate, much less do a triple-lutz.

Learn to manipulate the forces of nature at my own will. Heck yeah, it would be fun to put an entire city on fire... err, did I say that loudly?

Realistic (Sort of): I'd like to learn every language currently in use.

Fantastic: I would be an empath.

I'd like to learn how to avoid the need for sleep, plausible given that there are some people (I recall seeing some documentary about a guy in India) who actually DO NOT SLEEP... at all. Think about it, I'd have 1/3 more of my life to enjoy and that would be more than useful.

I'm satisfied with my RL choices.

Some fantasy skills would be nice though, like flying or being invisible.

I saw the tail-end on a documentary on sleep recently and there was a researcher who had developed a drug that supposedly eliminated the effects of sleep deprivation.  The host of the documentary tried the drug over a 48hr time-period iirc, it worked for him, but then he had an allergic reaction and had to stop.

So it's very plausible, though I personally wouldn't want to live without sleep, having a way to survive all-nighters without zombifying yourself would be cool though.

I should have known all of your choices would be about communicating better so we can all be freinds.

You need to feed those destructive urges! Join the dark side....
