Just what I wanted... Mass Effect Racing! *sarcasm*

Ugh. Once again I'm forced to question the direction BioWare is taking this game. When people asked for an improved Mako, who's idea was it to give them WipeOut with a hover tank? Oh wait, I know. The same person that thought it would be a great idea to add thermal clips and a nuke gun. This is not what fans of ME wanted...

Get out you halo fanboy, now.

From what i gathered on this forum most of Mass Effect fans are Xbox crybabies, that's why Mass Effect became more of a rail shooter than anything else (it's easier with the controller),  i'm not totally sure that that is the case but most of the sales came from Xbox fans.

Personally i didn't have one problem with Mass Effect (1) controls and gameplay especially the Mako which i had allot of fun with, as i am a PC gamer.

But now i have allot of small issues with the use/storm/take cover key, whenever i storm past a terminal or something  or when i'm storming from cover to cover my character seems to get stuck to the nearest wall instead of running past it.

Anyway hopefully Bioware realize what fans expect out of Mass Effect, which is no way in hell another linear TPS action game with bland RPG  elements if you can even call them that anymore. I love both games allot but i kind of expected more from Mass Effect 2 ( sincerely i love the approach of the ship being your inventory which seems perfectly plausible from where i stand).

 Cheers!

Watched the video. Not impressed. Sorry.

Looks like Mass Effect meets Wipeout. Those jumps look ridiculous, in the wrong way. Completely arcadey, I mean, imagine, is Shepard + crew supposed to be inside that thing?

At least the Mako had some tension, a slow pace approach to the target. It could be improved in so many ways. I had great expectations for the Hammerhead but this is looking to be very disappointing. Hope I'm wrong.

It's no worse than the Mako falling over a cliff, rolling over, and uprighting itself again and again in Mass Effect - imagine the nausea of the crew afterwards. And it's not like the Mako doesn't jump; the Hammerhead just has more of a reason to do so.

watched the video, so far it is in the same vein of ME2 : all pew pew and no exploration, hell, it even felt like watching some arcade race game.

Not sure if I was hearing things, but did anyone else catch on GTTV during the DLC segment that they mentioned there was in fact another character being added to the game?

As for the Hammerhead, I ended up with mixed feelings. It’s free and will add some play time to the game, but not sure how it'll fit with the overall theme. Guess I'll have to wait until it comes out to see if it’s more Bring Down the Sky or another Pinnacle Station.

I see my hopes for free roaming were sadly in vain. It's just as structured as the other ME2 missions. And I highly doubt you can get out of the vehicle at will, too.

It looks OK. It doesn't look brilliant, but also it's free. So no complaints.

Ok after watching the video and what little you actually see, I have mixed feelings about it. I would like to believe that it will be good but I seriously have my doubts.

It feels like its just more eye candy to distract us from the lack of side quests (and other content) in this game.

It is no surprise that the maps are totally linear just like all the mission maps in ME2 and looks more like a combat/racer but I guess that’s to be expected since ME2 is all TPS now anyway.

Have to wait and see regardless for a final assessment of this “should have been in the game in the first place content” download.

Same opinion as many here. My suspicions of corridor-shooter in a different wrapping were correct. For this reason I am not exactly jumping in my chair.

But hey, at least it's extra content, and arcade gamers may even enjoy it despite the new rpg-killing trend.

I think alot of the concerns stem from missions being segmented. It'd be cool if there were future dlc that featured elements from all over the rest of the game, complex story based missions, hammer head vehicle segments, and N7 style unique ****. Noveria from the first mass effect was a great example of this kind of diversity. You had a town, a vehicle segment, a mission point, a secondary settlement area, and even a unique "hacking" style minigame. I'd love to see more missions that play out like Noveria from mass effect 1 in terms of overall pacing, and I think we probably WILL see missions like that and that this is mostly just "testing the waters" for various mechanics that will be expanded on later.

I'm willing to give it a try, I think it looks pretty fun, however I think its weird that some people are acting like the Mako was incredibly fun and there was tons of exploration, when in reality there was very little exploration, sometimes you ended up spending 20 minutes trying to climb up a sheer mountain and most of the time you ended up at the same building with enemies inside it, there are some exceptions like the moon missions, the thresher maw, and some ice levels but come on.

Thank you Koopman!! Exactly. I'm glad to see there are some Mass Effect fans like me that want more Mass Effect and less Gears of War.

*clap clap clap* Very well put. We need to be vocal that exploration IS important to a bunch of us.
